Life of a zombie

Book 1: The Call

Chapter 1

As darkness fell a small shape fell from the mouth of the cave. A small spider no bigger than a wolf. Its brethren started swarming the forest floor. Zombies came from the cave with skeletons and creepers. All attracted to the eyes of hero-brine. All but one. This zombie thought that hero-brine was here to destroy them. He had seen something that no one had. An ancient prophecy telling that hero-brine would destroy all that stand in his way. Unless one player of unknown name would attempt to destroy him.

That zombie who’s name was Charles was wondering what the name of the player would be. People had such imagination these days. Why couldn’t people just stick with Steve? Or Alex? He never understood anyone. Especially villagers. They were always so afraid of zombies. If a zombie walked up to a villager then they would run away and call the guards. Most zombies would prefer to keep their arms straight out incase of players seeing them. Charles didn’t.

Later on he saw a dungeon and bit some flesh off and threw it into the spawner, causing it to flare up and have a small zombie spinning around in it on an angle. Seconds later 3 zombies spawned and left the dungeon in search of hero-brine. Charles understands zombies the least because if one is told something then somehow they all hear it and follow the instructions. He went to the surface beneath shade and saw the local village bustling with activity. Soon he will see them. He made handcuffs for himself so he couldn’t attack people. He hoped they would understand.

Chapter 2

Charles had studied the village for days taking a look at how they greeted each other. He wanted to fit in. To have friends. He wanted to know happiness. He put on a leather helmet and handcuffs before walking into the village. No one noticed him since they were busy farming or raising a family. Good. Charles thought. The church was not in session. He went to the church and spoke to the priest. “Hi sir.” He said to the priest. Hoping he would not run away and alert the village guards about his position in the village. The priest turned around and backed off and said, “What do you want?”

“Just to talk. I have read an ancient prophecy stating the world will end in 7 days. Due to a player like entity called hero-brine. Prepare the warriors in less then 7days.”

“Sure no problem.” With that Charles left the village but he was seen by someone and cornered by the guards.

“Where is the priest?” One of the guards asked.

“Here! I am here! Calm down.”

“Why?”

“There is a prophecy.”

Chapter 3

“What do you mean a prophecy? The guards asked them both. They had an edge to their tone.

“Let the zombie go.” The priest told them. The guards dropped the zombie. Watching him gasp for air and writhe on the floor.

“Do you know about hero-brine?” Charles asked them both, admiring the questioning look on their faces.

“No. Why do you ask.” Charles then explained the prophecy to the guards who stared in disbelief the whole time. He started from when he was a child to when he saw hero-brine last. “Interesting. We will prepare the defences.”

“Thanks.”

“If in 7 days there is no attack then we will find and kill you. Kapeesh?”

“Fine. In 8 days I will come to the village with handcuffs and helmet on. When I arrive thank me or kill me depending on the prophecy.” With that he left and reached the shade of trees. He saw one player go to the village and build a small wall outside the village. Then an iron golem was built. Then he saw Charles. And smiled.

Chapter 4

Who was that man? Has he seen the prophecy? Why did he not look like any NPC I have ever seen? Charles thought. Since the man was crouched he couldn’t see a gamertag. He helped the villagers then left. He must have been a player. Pathetic really. The villagers should be able to build a wall themselves. But they were too stupid. At the first sign of dark they ran into their homes.

The next day when Charles returned to the village he saw it destroyed with items laying on the ground. Everyone was dead. Except one. An old man with grey robes laying on the ground. On closer inspection he saw it was just an armour stand with the robes. The items scattered nearby show his fate. Then he saw another man, different to the day before. He looked like a usual player, with the normal Steve skin. Only this was no normal player, for this man had eyes burning brighter than that of the Dragons.

Charles returned to what he called home. Of course, it was not as fancy as zombie town. But it was home to him. As all zombie homes, there was a small hp fountain to rejuvenate him if he got hurt. As all players, he liked exploring, and trolling. Overnight he would go to zombie town and shut off hp fountains. So he did, but what he saw shocked him.

The entire zombie army was preparing for war, unless they are destroying the villages, thought Charles. This was very unexpected behaviour from the zombies. Even women and children were in the ranks. All the hp fountains were turned off, hopefully never to be turned on again.

Chapter 5

“Zombie!” The head of the army called out to Charles. “What be your name?”

Forgetting the rank names Charles called out, “Cha-sin. Cha-sin greets the zombie master.” Hoping the zombies will buy it.

“Cha-sin will help command the next attack on puny villagers.”

“Understood” This made Charles extremely nervous, he knew he couldn’t kill villagers but if he didn’t he would be killed. He nodded his head. If he could divert them and get them lost then he would be victorious without destroying the village. Left, right, left, left, right, left, right, right, left. He told himself to get them lost. He knew if his plan failed then all was lost. Either his innocence or his life.

Then the zombie master shouted out. “Forward March!” The zombies gaze out an excited growl so they would be prepared to take over the server. This was not part of the prophecy. How can this happen? It can’t be because of my actions, can it?  He pondered. The prophecy stated that Hero-Brine would rise to destroy them unless a dual wielder would stand up and destroy him. It showed an enderman, a skeleton, a wither and a zombie.

After what felt like days Charles saw the village and called “left turn!” And continued on with his plan. He made sure to put them in the forest. So they would be lost. Only the commanders had a helmet. The rest would burn.

Chapter 6

The next day Charles was just hoping he could stop the zombies again but he tricked the high zombie master, he would be banished or killed. Both meant death. But he had a plan. When he went to the first village he got an iron pickaxe. His cave had diamonds near the bottom, where other zombies hung out. That would cause problems, he went down with the pickaxe to the depths hoping he would not be seen by zombies. He heard laughter and froze. Until he saw 2 skeletons and then continued walking. Finally, reaching the diamonds he lifted the pickaxe with all his might he let the head fall down until it struck the diamonds. He repeated this with every diamond until he had 26 diamonds. He had to protect one of the villages. Or else all would be lost. Quite literally as well. They wanted to destroy the server so they could hopefully stop the prophecy hero-brine had told them.

With the diamonds Charles went to the next village he thought was to be attacked and went there every day hoping to see the mysterious player. He thought he was never going to come. So he waited three days. On the third day the player came. He waved to Charles “Hi,” the player said “my name is gbblackknight01.” The player looked extremely menacing because his skin looked like armour. White and black. The skin was the only thing scary about him to Charles. They stood there and chatted for a while after quick introductions. “Have you seen the hordes of zombies and endermen and creepers?”

“Yes and thats why you need this.”

 Chapter 7

“You know I can kill you now right?” Charles stepped back. “Don’t worry I won’t if you don’t try to kill me.”

“Every line of code is screaming ‘Yes kill him now!’ But I say no.” Charles joked as Gb put on his extra armour. “Sorry it wasn’t enchanted. I don’t have the stuff to enchant.”

“Doesn’t matter I can enchant them if I hurry.”

“No time. The sun sets as we speak.” Charles said as he looked behind Gb. The sun was no more than a slither on the horizon. At the forest line green, blue and black objects were lined up waiting for the command to attack. A zombie noticed Charles and snarled so loudly Charles thought it would shatter his already fragile skull.

“Hello, Xa-Sun

“Well well well. Hello Cha-sin we have been waiting for you. Players, Npc’s and you will all perish. We will stop you if you refuse to join us. Xa-Sun will count to three. One. Two. Thr-”

Chapter 8

“No!” Cried Gb. “We will stop you and whoever is with you. Even they will perish with or without us standing in your way.  I am sure someone is somewhere nearby listening to us. Ready to standby us and give us a hand in stopping the forces of the zombies and other mobs threatening the server of Minecraft!”

“Even a girl?” A mysterious voice called from the grasslands to the east. Personally I think it would be otherwise sexist.” Her gamertag showed RandomCow100. She didn’t seem very threatening. A simple girl in a purple cow onesie. Then she started lighting up the area with the iridescent hue of her enchanted diamond armour and sword. On closer inspection you would be either dead or able to notice the slight change of colour from purple to blood red. You would also see her eyes a deep red. The few hairs on Charles’ neck were standing on end and falling out.

“Good to see you sis, this is Charles.” Gb said addressing Charles. “No you cannot kill him.” This made Cow disappointed because he said this due to cows look of content. “Now back to business. You sir can go sit in the corner and watch because I said so.” Every villager laughed because of how he spoke. He slurred his voice as if he were drunk.

Then 3 shots were fired over their heads and hit the same zombie. Nullifying it’s hp. Charles turned around to see who had fired the arrows. He stared straight down the shaft of an arrow.

Chapter 9

“Who is the rotting meat? Can I kill it?” The figure asked Gb.

“1. His name is Charles. 2. No you may not kill him.” Gb explained as the new player took off his armour. He was a person in a watermelon onesie.

“Name’s Melon Master. How do you do?” He was met by silence. “Me too! We will be great friends. I can see it already.” Again silence.

“He is trying to strike conversation with you.”

“Oh. Get armour and a weapon now. And get ready to fight.”

The battle was delayed until sunrise which really disappointed everyone except melon master. “Yay! I thought we would have to fight but no one wore a helmet!” Only to be slapped by Gb. Making him flash red.

“Idiot. My little brother is an idiot!” Shouted Gb when they got to Charles’ house. I cannot believe him we needed to fight that fight! Now that gives the zombies a new chance to destroy the village. It’s vulnerability is not the best thing in the world at the moment.”

“Speak of the devil!” Called Melon Master from the entrance. “There may or may not be a few others who I have recruited in this battle for Minecraft then just us so… yeah. Here they are.” People lined up along the cave entrance. Their names hovering up above them.

Chapter 10

AirlessSquash72, jaybot523, TNTBOSS123, DatCoolGirlLayla and icefalconz all lined up in diamond armour all glowing with enchantments no-one could tell except them. Charles ran down his mine and came up with 2d black/purple diamond shapes in his hands. “Dragon scales. Used to make armour unattainable by players. The scales would kill players instantly no matter what enchantments on what armour.” He threaded them together on the crafting table. They made a chainmail-like armour with purple flecks scattered through it. He moved outside and poured a bottle of purple liquid on the outside, dragons breath. He put it on an armour stand and let it soak in. When it was done he equipped it and explained his plan of ambush.

Close to dusk Charles placed a log with just the pants and boots on. A diamond sword with two scales embedded into the blade. “Got room for one more in the plan of ambush?” A dark figure asked from the tree line. “Names jackson. Charles right? I heard your plan and thought we could work together as friends? Please can i have one chance?”

“I guess. Do you know where to hide?”

“I won’t hide. I am with you.”

“Really? You know how dangerous that would be right? Get some wood, give them to the villagers and tell them to place them in the form of planks ok?”

“Got it.” And with that Jackson was off collecting and placing wood telling the villagers to make a wall of planks. So endermen can’t move them to get through then escape with the tunnels.

Chapter 11

One day a man with eyes brighter than the stars themselves came into being. Blazes are to blame and this brought hatred to this man. All he wanted was to end the ones who brought this blindness. He was not aware of these blazes and chose to destroy Minecraft instead. One day, in the future, a man with an unknown name will rise when hope is seemed to be extinguished. A griefer will stop herobrines army. Only then will peace be brought to Minecraft.

At sundown the zombies were lined up facing the sun. Facing them, on a single log, sword glinting in the twilight, was Charles. “Hello friends, have you come to play? I like to play. Do you?” He questioned. When the sun disappeared completely, the zombies advanced. Charles showed them his sword, they all stopped. “Recognise it do you? Stole ’em from the dragon myself. With a friend of course.” When he said this, Jackson walked in from the shadows a grin on his face that would haunt their nightmares for millenia to come. Mostly because jackson cant draw, let alone scrape a smile into a plank of wood. Then he had to carve a mask that would fit his head. “Dude, its good you want to use scare tactics, but never try to do that ever again or I swear I will be the one to kill you.”

“Well then, that escalated quickly.” The enderman dumbly replied. He took the mask off only to show the hair he made from a bundle of wheat.

“Dumb blonde.” Charles muttered.

Chapter 12

From some where in the zombie army, a large gong sounded, marking the start of the assault. The zombies surged forwards. Gb, hiding in the bushes whispered to all the others “at midnight they all should be out, sleep in a different bed, one at a time. We cant skip to dawn yet.” Charles waited till he saw gb to put on the rest of the of the armour, still the zombies advanced. He drew his sword, still they advanced, although they did it more cautiously. He started slaying the ones that got too close. But still, they advanced.

When the army was getting to strong for Charles to handle by himself, the moon disappeared, being replaced by the sun on the horizon, signalling the start of the day, instantly setting all zombies on fire at once. The ones closest to

Charles died within seconds, while the ones at the rear died in a minute. All that was left was Charles and the zombie leader. “How could you? You beast! You kill your family. Now I kill you.”

“No! He betrayed me! I will kill him myself.” A voice from the shadows said. When the figure opened his eyes they glowed a bright, angry white.

Hero-brine. Charles thought. “Jackson now!” He screamed as he threw off the chestplate. Then Jackson appeared behind him, grabbed him and they both disappeared in a mist of purple teleportation particles.

Book 2: The Fall

Chapter 1

Back in Charles’ home Jackson collapsed on the floor and curled into a ball. Whimpering to himself in fear. Charles had fear gnawing at his chest but he did not let it show, after all this time he had finally found out what had caused the madness of the zombies and the creature he saw that one night. How is he alive? He wondered staring at Jackson. He isn’t a player, an npc, an animal or a monster. He must be a virus. Some do say viruses are mythical. Then he remembered the words of his tutor. Remember young one, even myths have some truth. “Thats it!” He shouted. Jackson got up. “What?”

“When I was younger my tutor told me, ‘even myths have some truth.’ And prophecies are a type of myth right? Well we need to figure out who the player is that will defeat him!”

“How will we do that? There have been an infinite number of players. We know a fair amount of them to. They were terrified when hero-brine came the all disconnected!”

“Not all of them.” Said Gbblackknight01 from the cave entrance. “We had some difficulty but those users live close to each other and they all got disconnected. But I live a fair way away from them but I doubt they know what has happened. Also someone put this in a hopper and transported something to your chest because they couldn’t touch it. Take a look.” As Charles opened the chest he was nearly blinded.

“Who put the stupid glow-stone in here? Is that my chestplate?”

Chapter 2

“Your welcome. The players can’t reconnect. Their game keeps crashing every time they try to connect so yeah.”

“I understand. Well at least they weren’t terrified enough to leave, right?” He turned to where Jackson used to be in a ball. “Jackson? Jackson where are you?”

“He must have left. As per usual. He gets really bored if people are having a conversation or an argument without him. He likes causing mischief.”

“He is in my mine isn’t he?” And with that, Charles ran into his mine and came out a minute later with Jackson, who had a fidget spinner in his hands staring at it contently.

“I’ve got it! This time I’ve really got it! We could destroy the zombies at the source! We could go to where ever Charles comes from and then take out whatever zombies are left. Then we go to all the others and destroy them too so we win and the villages survive.”

“That is brilliant, i’m gonna hit the hay. Good night.”

Chapter 3

I opened my eyes and saw the faces of 2 zombies watching over me as I lay down, my mother and father. All I see is love in their eyes. As my eyes close everything changes. The house is on fire, my mother runs in and pics me up and carries me on her chest and shoulder, over her heart. My father runs up and goes to attack a figure with fire in his hands. All I hear is the crackle and snap of the fire on wood and crying. Then I realise it is my own. “He is the one to destroy me! He must be killed! I will take you out if you stand in my way!” The figure who’s eyes shone with a hate that could never be compared. A hate so powerful that the fire turned to a supernova. The last thing I see is the man throwing a sword and my mother trying to shield me with her body. Then she falls on the floor, the sword embedded in her back. Then a wall of flame lies between me and the man.

Charles woke up with a start his forehead covered in sweat. He saw jackson standing next to him and Gb sitting in the chair in the corner, staring with interest at Charles. “You ok?” He asked. “You were screaming in your sleep. Either that or crying. My point is, you made a lot of noise while you were asleep.”

“Sorry. What time is it?”

“Midnight.”

“Then what is that glow over there?”

Chapter 4

The glow of 1000 flaming zombies lit up the horizon. Charles, Gb and Jackson burst through the foliage. “Look! The villagers are fighting back! We did make an impact after all on these villagers so we can help them fight the zombie army!” Jackson screamed throwing his mask on and running into the midst of the battle before Charles could scorn him again like he did last time they were up against the same zombie army.

“Jackson! Get back here!” Charles shouted, drawing his sword and also running in.

“Am I the only sane one here?” Gb said, sitting down on a log that had fallen over. A zombie came over and gave him some popcorn. Gb accepted it, nodding his approval. “Thanks.” He said watching the zombie get cut down the middle. Gb ditched the popcorn, jumped up, grabbed his sword and ran into the battle. Zombie after zombie fell from his blade.

As Charles ran through the carnage he cut down zombie after zombie. He heard the shouts of the villagers as the last few zombies lay scattered in front of the village. Above all that, he heard sobbing. He noticed all the zombies either lay dead, or ran to the forest. All but one. Charles approached it with caution. As he approached it the sobbing got louder. It was a female zombie, hunched over another zombies dead body. “Hello?” He said. She turned to face him. As she turned to look at him, a flash of recognition through her eyes. She’s beautiful. He thought. Why does she look so familiar?. Wait. Is this my mother?

Chapter 5

“The last time I saw you was when I fell forward, a sword in my back. I didn’t die because it missed my core. But now I have found you again and the world once again has that little bit of-” she was cut off. As she slowly fell back the little bit of light left her eyes and an iron blade ran through her chest as she hit the ground. Behind where she was stood hero-brine.

“Hello boy. Did you like my little puppet? I made her especially for you.” He said, menacingly. Then the ground started to tremble at their feet. Then, three iron golems burst out of the forest. All had the bright white eyes of hero-brine. They surrounded Charles and didn’t attack. Hero-brine looked as if he was meditating. Then he realised, hero-brine controls the golems. He looked around for a way out. If I can attack hero-brine then I have a chance on freeing the golems! As if hero-brine could hear his thoughts, one of the iron golems moved in front of him, guarding him.

“What about a deal?”

“Explain.”

“You let everyone go and take me.”

“No. I will take you anyway. There is nothing that will stop that.”

Chapter 6

“What about me? Called Melon Master form a fair way off. The bow in his hand hand string dangling off the ends. He was most likely oblivious to the break in the bow. As per usual he was oblivious to the key events of the rescues that he tries to pull off miraculously, but fails miserably. He notices the string. He throws the bow at the iron golem. It hits. The golems eyes go from white to the black with red pupils. And immediately went to attack the melon onesie. He grabbed out two sticks and threw them at the remaining golems. They both had the same reactions as the first. Now he had three golems after him.

Now that left hero-brine. Charles charged him, but a set of possessed armour got in the way, carrying an iron sword. Charles had to deflect blow after blow from the possessed armour. The armour was moving incredibly fast even for a blade wielder. After about five minutes of constant deflections Charles noticed hero-brine was starting to sweat.   He was getting tired. At that moment Charles chose to turn the tables on the armour, switching from defence to offence. This sudden change surprised hero-brine, causing him to flash red with every blow that landed on the armour, leaving it cracked and close to destruction.Melon master screamed from the bottom of the hill, the golems still chasing him. “This is madness!” Giving Charles the best one-liner to finish with.

Chapter 7

“THIS! IS! MINECRAFT!” He yelled, and 1,000 players rode down the hill, all being lead by RandomCow100. Gb was just sitting in a tree with Jackson, eating popcorn, cake, bread and drinking milk. A wierd combina- how is melon master up there? He wondered, turned around and saw icefalconz battling the three golems for melon master, who was currently eating a melon slice up on the tree with the others. I like that kid. He thought as he charged Herobrine. Finally he reached him. Everyone stopped where they were. Herobrine just knelt there, awaiting his fait. With a downwards swing there was a loud shout. Charles froze. I can’t move. He thought. And then he was home.

Gb, icefalconz, RandomCow100, Melon Master and Jackson all stood around Charles who lay on the ground, unconscious. Jackson nudged him with his foot “Dude, get up dude.” Nothing happened. “Lets just get rid of him. Hey, whats this around his neck.” A locket, in the shape of a heart with a picture of his mother and father. Jacksons breath caught
