The Bakery Mystery
Chapter 1
May was up at 6:00 AM heading to her Bakery where they baked cakes, cupcakes, donuts, cookies, and bread. The smells were outstanding! May was unlocking the store almost ready to open. When she opened the door her employees Mike, Thea, Ian, and twin sisters Jade, and Madelyn were already there baking a cake for this kids birthday party. May was happy because she wasn’t far back in her work anymore.
“What are you guys doing up already?” May asked Jade.
“We are helping you. You have been working hard. Why don’t you take the day of” Jade agreed politely.
May went home so happy. She plopped down on her couch along with her dog Duke. May flicked on the TV. May switched to channel 8,the channel the news was on. There was a robbery. May was anxious to see where. Then it showed a clip of her Bakery.
“Someone robbed my Bakery!” May screamed.
May raced out of her house down the street to her Bakery. May got to her Bakery. There were the policemen standing there with Jade cuffed.
“What are you doing? She is my employee!” May shouted.
“This is your employee?” The policeman asked.
“Yes” May exploded.
“She is actually a robber. She has been working here to steal your secret ingredient” the policeman burst.
“What about the other employees?” May asked.
“They were on break when Jade took your secret ingredient” The policeman waleed.
“I don’t believe this! She is like my best friend!” May cried.
“I’m sorry we have to take her to court before anything is final”the policeman said.
“I didn’t do anything!” Jade screamed.
“The camera never lies” the policeman stated.
May went home with a long face hoping that Jade didn’t steal, or take the secret ingredient, or rob anything. May walked in her front door. Her TV was still on the clip of the crime scene. The policeman were reporting the case.
He said they were not officially sure yet. May knew what she was going to do. She was going to solve this mystery once and for all.
May got a compass, map of the city, and a flashlight. May watched TV to find more info about the robbery. Then she walked down the street as a detective.
May got to her Bakery. There was police tape around the doors. May slipped through the door. Wow! Her Bakery was a mess! May walked to the cabinet that use to have her secret ingredient. She found some white sugar on the cabinet. She identified the fingerprints left behind. She moves on to the kitchen. There was a pot with water boiling on the stove. Or was it water? There was a piece of paper in it.
“Wow”May said.
May read the note Dear May, I wrote this note because I knew you were going to come for your secret ingredient. Go south of your Bakery. You may find a pet there.

“I can’t believe this Jade did take the secret ingredient!” May shouted.
May sprinted out the door directly south of her Bakery. Where would she find a pet. Oh the pet store! May ran to the pet store. The door swung open.
“Do you happen to have a note from Jade?” May asked the salesman.
“Yes we do”The salesman said.
The salesman took it from the cash register, and handed it to May. She read it, it said
Dear May I left this note to leed you to your next destination. Go to where children go when there parents are at work.Good Luck.

May went out door yelling thank you to the salesman. May went down the street to the… daycare! May swung open the door. All the kids looked at her. May walked to the front desk she asked
“Do you have a note for May? May asked.
“Yes we do are you a May? The lady asked.
“Yes” May bursted.
The lady handed her the note, and that one said.
Dear May, Go to where you might find food. That is where you will find your next note.It will be hard. Good luck.

May yelled thank you to the lady at the desk. She ran to the grocery store where there is food. She walked in the door.
“Do you have a note for May?”May shouted.
“No, will that debit or credit?” The cashier asked.
“What?Never mind!”May cried.
“Wait do you want your receipt!” The cashier shouted.
May ran to the sidewalk. Where would she find her next note? May thought and thought. Where was there food besides the grocery store. The park! There were hot dog stands,pretzel stands,nacho stands, and more. She walked down the street still thinking.
“Oh! It’s at a Restaurant” She yelled.
May went to the restaurant. Hoping she would find the next note.
“Do you have a note for May? May asked the waitress.
“Yes we do” The waitress said.
He handed it to her she read the note. A bag with her secret ingredient fell out she had found her secret ingredient. Later that night May baked a triple chocolate fudge cake. She tasted the cake. She spit it out. It tasted like salt.
May looked at the bottle with her secret ingredient.
“SALT!” May screeched.
“It was salt!” May screeched again.
May got off the couch with her cake. She took it to the kitchen, and cut open. There were bits of salt all over the inside. May was extremely out of her mind mad. She was red faced ready to explode. She did all of that work for salt. There were mixed feelings whirling inside her stomach.
May was about to walk out the door and yell at the police officer. She was going to walk right up to him and yell find my secret ingredient. May did get up she walked out the door, and right there she saw Jade about to knock on the door.
“ Here you go here is your secret ingredient” Jade said.
“ I thought you were in jail!” May cried.
“ They let me go” Jade said.
“ The police didn’t tell me about this” May said puzzled.
“ They just didn’t want to tell you, because they thought you would be offended that they let a robber out of jail” Jade Stated.
“ Ok thanks” May thanked.
May went back into her house looking puzzled at the secret ingredient. Boom! May heard something in her yard. May looked out her window two policemen had tackled Jade to the house. But was it Jade? May went out the door.
“What are you doing?” May asked.
“ This is not Jade this person was pretending to be Jade the whole time. The person under this face paint is not actually Jade. We arrested the wrong person,” The policemen said.
“ If this isn’t Jade, who is it?” May asked.
“The person under the face paint is Jade’s twin sister Madelyn,” Sergeant Calvin said firmly.
“ Then why does she have face paint on?” May asked.
“ The reason she has face paint on is because she is not identical,” Sergeant Calvin said.
“ Wait where is my secret ingredient?” May asked.
“We don’t know. Madelyn won’t tell us” Sergeant Calvin said.
The other policeman stood there cuffing Madelyn. May looked at Madelyn she had a tear in her eye. May was ashamed in her own employee. May was upset she took the day of, and lied on her couch thinking that she could trust them to do her job.
“Well then you may take her, and release Jade.” May cried.
“Then we will do that” Sergeant Calvin said.
May went back in her house. May still didn’t know where her secret ingredient was. Maybe Jade would know. May went to the police station where Jade was being released.
“Jade do you know where my secret ingredient is?” May asked.
“How would I know. I didn’t steal the secret ingredient” Jade cried.
“Well she is your sister” May said.
“Fine I know where she put it” Jade cried.
“ Madelyn sold it to a guy who was jealous of your bakery because it made so much money than his, so the guy called one of your employees. That employee was Madelyn. The guy lives in New York” Jade stated.
“ Do you know the guy’s name?” May asked.
“ His name was like Sergeant Calvin”
May’s jaw dropped to the ground. She new who sergeant Calvin was. May booked a flight to New York that night. Along with Jade. They were going find Sergeant Calvin.
Chapter 2- unexpected plane flight (1 Week later)
“Jade t wake up we are in New York” May mumbled.
“We did?” Jade asked.
“Yeah get up” May mumbled again.
“I don’t want to!” Jade said.
“If you don’t want to you can stay on the plane forever” May said.
Jade got up a few minutes later. They walked out of the plane. The two girls didn’t know where to start. First they walked around looking for a hotel that they should of reserved before they came. May tried to get Jade to walk faster, but she was just falling asleep by the minute.
“Jade wake up this is kinda important” May yelled.
“What?”
“Wake up!” May shouted.
“Ok!” Jade yelled.
“Ok if you were Sergeant Calvin where would you go?” May asked Jade.
“I would probably go to a broken down building” Jade suggested.
“Let’s go find a broken down building where maybe no one might think of. Like out of the city” Jade suggested again.
“Good idea!” May exclaimed.
Jade and May went outside of town after they reserved their hotel room.
On their way out of the city on the gravel road they saw a farm with chicken, cow , and horses.
“Hey sir is there any banded buildings around here?” May asked.
“Yeah there is on highway 88” the man said in a country voice.
“Thank-you!” Jade shouted.
May and Jade ran down the country road looking around for signs. How were they supposed to know know where highway 88 was? They weren’t a map! Finally they came across a broken down sign. The sign said Hwy 88. They were going in the right direction. This Highway was old. Why did they even call it a highway
May and Jade continued to walk when they came across a really old building with birds flying in and out. Jade hesitated to go in, but May was confident.
“Come on Jade we have to see if anyone is in here!” May shouted.
“They could be anywhere we don’t have to go in here” Jade suggested.
“Jade!” May shouted.
“Ok” Jade said.
The two girls walked in slowly. They got to the door. They could her birds flying in and out. They stood in front of the door. Wack! The door slammed open. They both peaked in. There was no one inside. Just some birds, and their babies.
Chapter 3- The unexpected boy
“Where is Sergeant Calvin?” Jade asked.
“I don’t think he’s here” May said.
“Wait maybe he is in a hotel room. If we are going to suspect that he is out in the country then he is going be in the city” Jade pointed out.
“Then let’s go check every hotel we can” May said.
“There is so many hotels how do you think we can find them?” Jade asked.
“I have a plan” May said.
The two girls walked the 10 miles back to the city. They walked by the sign that said welcome to New York. They walked past the sign. They entered the city looking for a hotel.
“Where would they be?” Jade asked.
“First let’s go get a map. Then we have to look for clues that they were here. If we still can’t find them we give up, and go home” May stated.
“Ok let’s go” Jade said.
May and Jade walked down the street feeling confident. Soon they got to a big sign with maps beside it. They picked one up, and looked at it. When May and Jade started walking they ran into a boy that had a sweatshirt that said Sergeant Calvin Hero! Jade stared at it closely. May was still looking at the map when Jade elbowed May.
“What?” May shouted.
“Look at that boy’s shirt!” Jade whispered.
“Oh my gosh what if he is helping?” May asked.
“Let’s follow him” Jade suggested.
“Jade we are not stalkers!” May yelled.
“We are now let’s go! Jade yelled.
Jade and May went up the street still following the boy. The boy didn’t seem like he was from around here. He had an accent that seemed to be talking in code. May tried to get closer, but he would turn around every once and awhile.
“Jade why don’t we pretend to bump into him, and start talking to him!” May suggested.
“He would think we are crazy, but let’s do it” Jade said.
May and Jade went up to him and purposely bump into him.
“Oh sorry I didn’t see you there” Jade said.
“It’s ok I probably look a little suspicious to you. Why do you have a map?” The boy asked.
“Because we are tourist” May yelled from behind Jade.
“Oh my name is Hayden” the boy mumbled.
“You from around here?” May asked.
“No, I’m actually…”
“Actually what?” Jade asked.
“I’m actually a tourist to.” Hayden said aloud.
“Oh you are where are you going first” Jade asked.
“Um… to a famous Bakery” Hayden said.
“ Can we go with you?” May asked.
“Um… sure” Hayden said.
Chapter 4- Unexpected visit
Hayden led them up the street to a Bakery like he said. They walked in the Bakery. The bakers were working hard making macarons. The best part was that you cooed watch them from your seat make the bread and cakes.
“Do you guys like cake because I do”Hayden asked.
May and Jade sat there listening to what Hayden was saying, so maybe he would give them a clue. She examined the boy’s shirt.
“My father is away doing his job as police officer.” Hayed said.
“what is his name? Jade asked.
“Sergeant Calvin” Hayden said.
Madelyn’s side
“Sheriff I want out of here!” Madelyn screamed.
“Yeah, Yeah that is what everyone says. And you know what no-one gets let out” the sheriff said.
” know one should have to be in jail!” Madelyn yelled.
“Only the people who are bad” the sheriff said.
madelyn stood there staring at the sheriff. She was angry, she just wanted to get out of here.
Chapter 5- Sergeant Calvin
May asked the boy a question.
“Did Sergeant Calvin ever have a history with the police?” May asked.
“Yeah that is why he became one. Wait why am I telling you it is no one of your business” Hayden said.
“Fine you don’t have to tell us, but is he in New York?” May asked.
“I think so I just don’t know where” Hayden said.
“Did ever want to take over any place. Like he wanted control?” Jade asked.
“Yeah he wanted a secret ingredient from this persons Bakery ” Hayden said.
“Wait why…”
” Just stop May my father is not a good person!” Hayden yelled.
May sat there with Jade. Jade has not said a word. She sat pale in the face like she just saw a ghost.
“What are we going to do? Hayden won’t tell us anything” Jade whispered.
“we will just have figure this out on our own” May whispered.
“How we don’t have any evidence then?” Jade asked.
“Well we can ask store keepers if they had seen him” May suggested.
“That is a really good idea, but how will we tell this to Hayden?” Jade asked.
“Simple we just sneak away” May said.
“Sneak away! He will think we were like detectives!” Jade whispered.
“Well we are detectives” May pointed out.
“That is true lets go well we can” Jade whispered again.
May and Jade snuck away well Hayden was ordering. They both went up the street going farther away from Hayden.
“Do you think we will run into Hayden?” Jade asked.
“How small do you think this city is Jade? We will never run into him well we are here” May said.
“Hey why did you guys leave?” Hayden asked from behind.
“Aww! Where did you come from?” Jade yelled.
“What do you mean I followed you when you left”
“You did!” May screamed.
“Yah you guys are trying to find my father.
“How did you know?” Jade asked.
“Well I can give you advice. Next time whisper” Hayden suggested
“Ok we’ll stop following us!” May screamed.
“Well you asked me if you guys could come along!” Hayden yelled.
“Well if we get up and leave without telling you I think that has nothing to do with you” Jade said.
“Ok go do you” Hayden said.
“Thank you!” May said sarcastically.
“No problem” Hayden said.
Chapter 6- Looking
“Where would we look first?” Jade asked.
“Let’s try this hot dog stand” May suggested.
“Hey sir have you seen a guy around here maybe someone suspicious?” May asked.
“Yeah you” the guy said rudely.
May and Jade walked away. They were surprised by the rude comment. Well every one here is rich and spoiled, so that’s not surprising. They walked to the next stand where someone was helping a guy with a black hood, and he had a brief case. The brief case had a brand name. May was going to see if she could get a picture with her phone. She got her phone out then took a picture of the brief case, and the guy.
“Do you think the guy is a little suspicious?” Jade asked.
“Why do you think I’m taking a picture of him?” May said.
“Well you could just be weird of something and like taking pictures of people” Jade suggested.
May studied the person closely well hiding in a bush. Everyone was looking at them like they were stalkers. The guy walked away with a pretzel, pizza, hotdogs, and some water.
“He must be feeding a lot of people” Jade said.
“Maybe he is just going to eat it for himself” May joked.
May and Jade got up and went to the stand. She saw what was on the menu.
“Hey what would you recommend on the menu?” Jade asked well May was still in the bush.
“Jade!” May called.
“What, I’m hungry!” Jade shouted.
Jade finally came back, but on her way back she was stopped by a guy in a black hooded coat.
“Yes?” Jade stuttered.
“Hey do you know where I might find a hotel?” The man asked.
“N…No” Jade stuttered.
The guy moved on.
“Jade I told you not to get food!” May yelled.
“Sorry I didn’t eat at the bakery” Jade cried.
May and Jade walked to a their hotel where their room was destroyed! Someone had trashed the place. It looked like a herd of wild buffalo came running through. May had never been in this situation where she herself had to call the cops. Jade was still on her way up to the room when…
Chapter 7 (Destroyed)
“May what happen to our room?!” Jade screamed.
“Someone must have destroyed our room!” May yelled.
“Yeah think?” Jade said
“Ok we might have to tell the front desk” Jade said.
May and Jade went 17 floors down to the front desk where know one was there. She rang the bell. Then someone came around the corner with a sheet of blankets and pillows. She looked like a maid.
“Excuse me mam where is the desk clerk?” May asked.
“I don’t know, but try to come back later” the maid said.
“I don’t have time to come back later my room is trashed, and I think some of the maids did it” May yelled.
“What us ?” The maid yelled.
“Yeah who else do you think has access to our room?” Jade asked.
“Well I will tell the owner about this” the maid said.
“Yeah right” Jade mumbled.
“What was that?” The maid asked.
“Nothing” Jade said.
Chapter 8-(Strange guy)
Back at the Bakery The employees were sitting at the table. Know one had came in since Madelyn robbed the Bakery. Mike Thea and Ian were talking when a guy came in with a bottle of water.
“What’s this for?” Thea asked.
“Nothing just come with me and you will find out” The guy said in a low dark voice.
“What do you mean” Ian asked.
“I mean come with me” the guy yelled.
They got up and started forward to the door. They had know idea where they were going or what they were doing. All they knew was that they were not going to be coming back for a while.
Chapter 9-(Why are you doing this?)
Jade was up in the mourning the room all cleaned up, and the sound of people walking around the floor above them. Jade got out of the bed she was sleeping in, and walked to the bathroom where a note was laying on the floor. That was strange it had a code on it YP23 she had no idea what that meant at all. The scary part was that it wasn’t there last night. Soon May got up.
“May look at this I found it on the floor in the bathroom!” Jade panicked.
“What?” May asked still half asleep.
“Look this note was on the bathroom floor!” Jade yelled.
“I’m sure it is just a prank” May whispered.
“A prank? After what happened in our hotel room you think this is a prank!” Jade screamed.
“Yup” May said clearly.
“Oh my gosh! You really think that?” Jade shouted.
“Yeah” May mumbled.
“Ok do you at least believe In this code?” Jade asked.
“If I don’t believe that there was someone who broke into our room why would I believe that the code is real?” May pointed out.
Jade was upset her best friend was acting strange. She didn’t know why she was like this. Jade figured that if May was up and happy she wouldn’t say those things. Why is she doing this though she is usually positive Jade thought to herself.
“Jade does the hotel have breakfast, or room service?” May asked.
“May we have been eating here the last three weeks!” Jade screamed.
“Why are you doing this your acting so immature?” Jade pointed out.
“Me?” May asked.
“Who else?” Jade whispered.
Is this even the real May? Jade wa getting a little suspicious now. Jade didn’t know if she was real or another person acting like May. Jade took the elevator Down to the lobby again nobody at the front desk, nobody talking about a football game. Nobody getting breakfast. So Jade decided she was going to get herself some breakfast.
When Jade got back to the room May was sleeping. May got up a little bit later.
“Hey Jade” May said miserable.
“Now you make sense” Jade said.
“What do you mean?” May asked.
“What do you mean what do I mean? You’re the one who doesn’t mean anything!” May shouted.
“You were just… never mind” Jade said.
Chapter 10-(The new story)
A new day began nothing suspicious had happen,but May and Jade had not found Sergeant Calvin. May was acting suspicious,but Jade had a feeling this was going to be the worst day yet.
“May!” Jade called.
“What?” May asked.
“Are you ready to go to Central Park?” Jade asked.
“Why are we going there?” May asked.
“We are going to look around “ Jade reminded May.
“Oh yeah. I wonder how it is at the Bakery?” May asked.
Chapter 11-( Where am I?”)
May’s employees were in the back seat of the moving truck. They had know idea where they were going.
“Where do you think they are taking us?” Thea asked.
Chapter 12-( Central Park)
“I don’t know I wonder if they are sitting in your office?” Jade joked.
“Yeah right” May said.
“Or they could be in a truck with a guy they don’t know” May suggested.
“Like they would ever get in a truck with a stranger.” Jade pointed out.
May and Jade stopped arguing at each other, and headed down the road to Central Park where there was food stands. Mostly people.
“Jade look for anything suspicious” May said.
“That bush look suspicious” Jade said.
“Ok people them” May said.
“Ok that guy is buying a hot dog” Jade whispered.
“Yeah everyone does that” May whispered back.
Jade walked to the hotdog stand where she thought that guy was suspicious. Then all of a sudden Jade was out of sight.
“Jade where are you?” May yelled.
May kept on looking not knowing there was a hologram of her who captured Jade.
“Help!” Jade screamed, but no one heard her. She could only hear her voice.
“May where are you?!” May yelled again.
May couldn’t hear anything not a single thing. May was very frightened at this point. Where could she be? Then heard a scream it sounded like Jade!
May ran the way she heard Jade scream.There she saw hologram of herself. Why was there a hologram of her she was out of the room earlier. Oh no that’s why Jade was yelling at me. May thought as she kept on running.
“May help!” Jade shouted from inside what felt like a sack.
“Jade I’m coming!” May shouted
May ran past a guy trying to ask her something, but she ignored it.
Chapter 13-(It’s over)
May found the old warehouse where the hologram took Jade. May walked over to the robot/hologram. May too a wood plank, and hit the hologram. The hologram was knocked out, but was she. The hologram stood back up a little woozy.
“May help!” Jade screamed.
May finally found a putts of water. May splashed on to the hologram. It’s eyes went black. May raced over to the sack that Jade was in.
“May thank you for saving me!” Jade yelled.
“Yeah now everything g is over except one thing. We have not found Sergeant Calvin yet.” May reminded Jade.
May and Jade ran out the door to the warehouse as fast as they could.
“May how do you know where Sergeant Calvin is?” Jade asked.
“It is back at the Bakery. I got a call from Thea that they were taken by a guy named Sergeant Calvin. He took them. He also has our secret ingredient. That was the whole point of going to New York!” May yelled.
“Oh yeah” Jade remarked.
Chapter 14-(The final chapter)
May and Jade were in a taxi driving to a place they commonly would go. There they would find Sergeant Calvin.
“We are here!” The taxi driver said.
May and Jade got out of the car. They saw Sergeant Calvin with May’s employees. The police suddenly came arresting Sergeant Calvin.
Everything was better later in the week nothing had happen May got her secret ingredient back. Madelyn was fired and in jail. Still May didn’t know that they forgot all their luggage in New York.
