Chapter One

This was a usual spot for Keghan Tellemiger. In all of the noisy school bus, he sat alone, quiet and hungry. His scrawny stomach growling like a dog, begging for a little bite of food. He kept all of his thoughts to himself as he stared out of the dirt caked window into the vast never ending farm land of Acroge.
He used to have a normal life, with friends. But history couldn’t strike his once joy-filled heart like Jacksonville used to give him. He was the kid that everyone wanted to hang out with. He could remember the wild sleep-overs with his best friends, in which we’re always ruined by his crazy apartment neighbor. The pranks that his friends and him pulled on his younger sister.
He could still remember his sister’s face when they threw her best hairbrush into the toilet. That along with other fond remembrances were the only thing from his lonely heart from freezing ice cold.

The tiny cafe’ scrunched in between two ancient brick buildings where his friends walked down to get a bite to eat. It never really was the greatest place to eat to Teghan, but it tasted like heaven on earth compared to the food in the small town of Acroge, which always had a hair, or something unusual in the food.

They would squirm their way out into the streets and eat it underneath the sho-
“Hey kid!” I said. “Let’s go! I gotta get these kids home without having their parents shoved halfway up my butt for god knows why! Something about ‘not having them to their houses on time,’ or whatever.” Mr. Fletchlinger, his bus driver, was again over reacting. His wire-like mustache was bouncing up and down as if his mouth was a trampoline. With Teghan’s face emotionless, he slowly dragged his torn up Nike sneakers out of the bus.
