The Nightmare That Became Reality

By Teghan

Chapter one

The nightmare

One day there was a girl named Teghan. She had long blond hair and light brown eyes. She was just an ordinary 6th grader. She had a best friend and her name was Ella. They did everything together. On October 25 Teghan had just gotten home from school and was doing her homework when her mom asked, “What would you like for dinner?.”

“Can we have spaghetti,” Teghan asked.

“Sure,” mom said. So her mom started making dinner and once her dad got home they ate. After that she decided to watch some tv in her room. She watched tv for a while and then went to shower. By the time she was done with her shower it was 9:00 p.m. Her mom yelled at her and told her to go to bed. That night she had the worst nightmare and when she woke up everything was different.

Chapter two

The next day

The next day Teghan woke up and her room was different. She didn’t know where she was. She walked downstairs and wondered where her mom was. The kitchen looked familiar but not from her own house. Finally she found her mom drinking her coffee and responding to emails on her computer at the dining room table. The dining room looked familiar from her own house and so did the living room. But anywhere else in her house looked familiar from something else. It was only 5:00 a.m. so she went back up to what supposedly was her room and thought about where her room and the kitchen looked familiar from. Ella’s house? No. And then it hit her. Those rooms were from her nightmare last night. Then she worried about what would happen at school.

Chapter three

The bus

She was on the bus sitting by Ella and staring out the window. Ella was acting different and the outside world looked like her nightmare. Then she realized the bus wasn’t taking her anywhere that she knew.

Chapter four

The abandoned construction area

The bus was driving to this abandoned construction area and as the bus entered the gate everyone passed out except for Teghan. She started shaking Ella but she wouldn’t wake up. The bus driver made her get out and as soon as she stepped foot out of the bus he put the bus in reverse and drove away. Teghan tried to chase after him but the gate closed and locked. She walked into this building that was obviously empty and then she saw another door so she twisted the handle and pulled on the door. She couldn’t get it open. The door wouldn’t budge. She agreed with herself that she would try one more time. Then “Wham” the door came open and she heard an echo. She looked inside but then before she could look back again she was running from something that was growling.

Chapter five

Running

She kept running and running and running. She felt like she was about to pass out.

Finally she thought she lost whatever was behind her and hid behind a building. She heard more growling and started running again. Then she hit the brakes and turned around. The thing was behind her and she screamed, “Who are you?”

“I am Malacar,” it said. “Well why are you chasing me?”

“Because I am from your nightmare.” In her mind she thought OH NO. The thing kept chasing her and finally she was so out of breath. She passed out.

Chapter six

Waking up

She laid there for 15 minutes and then finally woke up. Everything looked blurry at first but once her vision came into focus she saw Malacar standing right above her. She screamed. She cried. She ran. But she still could not get away. Her palms were sweating as if she was getting sprayed by a sprinkler! She stopped and put her hands on her knees and panted. Malacar went around to the front side of her. She looked up. Malacar was panting too. Suddenly Malacar roared louder than a lion. Teghan’s hair blew way back. She felt like her face was being molded by fire. Malacar had a temptation face that looked like he wanted to kill her.

 Chapter seven

The battle

She saw a big barrel of swords so she ran and grabbed one. Malacar grabbed one too. And in her mind she knew that that was the beginning of a battle. Teghan took a swing but Malacar ducked underneath it. Malacar swung too but missed. “Cling” “Clack” “Ding.” Is all you could hear. Teghan wasn’t sure what to do next. The thoughts were passing through her mind as if they were on a rollercoaster. They didn’t stop for enough time for her to focus on even one. Malacar wasn’t going to let this little girl beat him. He had to come up with a new plan…

Chapter eight

What am I gonna do?

Malacar stole Teghan’s sword. Teghan didn’t know what to do next, so she ran. Malacar chased her. She felt like she was running faster than a cheetah. Malacar trapped her in a corner and in her mind she thought WHAT AM I GONNA DO!? Dive right? Dive left? No Malacar would block her. Just then she saw an opening in between Malacars legs, so she dove. Her knees skidded on the ground scrapping them up. She ran and jumped the fence. Malacar ran after her. Teghan thought he was going to jump it too but he ran straight through it. Teghan just stood there with her jaw dropped. Malacar looked like he was going to explode…

Chapter nine

The Maze

Malacar gave out another powerful roar and after what sounded like a spell. Suddenly a huge maze dropped  over Teghan’s head. She was right at the entrance and the door closed and locked. “What is happening?” In the distance she heard  Malacar chuckle, “Have fun.” Teghan slowly moved forward being very cautious. In her mind she felt like she could hear horror movie music playing continuously. She walked forward and there was a lever that said pull me. Teghan wasn’t sure if she should pull it or scream until she passed out. Her mind was boggled. Half of her was saying pull it and the other half boggled was saying scream. She decided to pull it. She slowly creeped forward and pulled the lever. A door opened but as it did the whole sky became dark!

Chapter ten

Darkness

She started balling! She didn’t know what to do next. She ran forward and then CLUNK she hit a dead end. She turned around. Still pitch black sky. In her mind she felt like it was getting even darker. She just wanted to go home! Suddenly she heard something. It sounded like it popped! She turned left and CLUNK another dead end. That left going right slowly and hoping she wouldn’t hit another dead end she turned right and ran. She ran about 20 feet and didn’t hit anything. That probably meant there was no dead end. She decided at that moment she would turn left. She didn’t care if it was a dead end she was going to burst through it if it was. She was going to burst through it in hope that it was the side wall. She held her own countdown in her head. 5… 4… 3… 2… 1… GO. Daylight finally filled the sky. She looked for Malacar but he was nowhere to be found…

Chapter Eleven

Looking for Malacar

She hunted the construction site but she could not find Malacar. Finally she heard a laugh coming from behind the building. She slowly tip – toed behind the building and Malacar was talking into something. It looked like his type of phone. He sounded like he was talking to his boss. “Alright I got her trapped in the maze,” he said into the phone quietly. Teghan didn’t know if she should attack or run! Her mind went back and forth and back and forth. She decided to attack! She grabbed a sword that was laying on the ground next to her and swung at Malacar! She hit him! Suddenly this pixel looking thing popped up above him. It looked like a battery for Malacar. It went down just a smudge then went away. She felt like she was in some sort of video game! She did the math in her head and it seemed like she had to hit him hard 13 more times. “Slash” she hit him again. The battery popped up and went down a little more. Malacar slowly turned around and glared at Teghan. Growling he reached down and grabbed a sword. He swung at Teghan and “Woosh” Teghan flew backwards. She took a few deep breaths and stood back up. Her arm  ached. She looked down to discover it was bleeding! Malacar must of hit her there. She ran back at Malacar and hit him again. He died a little more. . That made 4. She only had to hit him 9 more times! Going up against Malacar that was going to be a lot! Slash Slash Slash! Three in a row! Malacar spun in a circle and stole Teghans sword. She started to panic…

Chapter Twelve

Getting Back Home

Her heart racing faster than a cheetah can run. She ran behind a building and waited for Malacar to find her. She heard him stomping heavily towards where she was hiding. Malacar finally got there. Teghan jumped out from where she was hiding and stole her sword back! She was so mad. She just wanted to get back home! Finally she hit Malacar harder that she has ever hit anything before! The battery popped up and drained all the way down. In the distance a portal popped up! Teghan ran to it and jumped in. As she was going through the portal she heard Malacar scream, “You may have won the battle but you have not won the war!”
