Part 1

As the spaceship the size of Manhattan descended upon the capital of Minnesota, the only thing running through my mind was, “Oh crap.” I clenched my fists. This was bad. This was very, very bad. And it was all my fault. “If I had just stopped him when I had the chance…” I mumbled. My pyrokinetic friend next to me said,

“DJ, this isn’t your fault! No one could have guessed that you’re brother would go and do something like… this.” I shut my eyes, trying to block out all the horrible things he said.

“You’re nothing to me!”

“You’re a poor excuse for a superhero.”

“If you had just done what you were told, none of this wouldn’t have happened!”

“You’re useless.”

“Vicky, it is my fault.” I told her, not able to look her in her pink eyes.

“DJ, no it’s not!” My cryokinetic friend Ellie said to me.

“If I had stopped Jay at the Infinity Alliance launch site, the whole entire freaking city wouldn’t be in danger! Do you know how many people live in the St. Paul?!”

“It’s not gonna come to that.” Ellie reassured me. “We can stop this.”

“But how?!”

“It’s called using our powers, idiot.” She rolled her icy blue eyes at me. “We fly up there, I’ll freeze the engines, Vicky’ll blow up the fuel tank, and you’ll go give Jay that butt-kicking you promised him.” I sighed quietly, looking down at my superhero-suit-clad self.

“I… I don’t want it to come to that. I’m not gonna fight Jay. He’s not himself. That emotionless thing is not my brother.”

“Well, you’re gonna have to.” I glanced back up at the black ship above, swallowing. Ellie turned me to face her and looked me in the eyes.

“DJ, I know what it’s like to not wanna fight with family members, especially with what’s at stake. All you have to do is knock him out and then we’ll bring hm back to base. We’ll find a way to get him back.” I gave her a small smile.

“Thanks El.”

“Guys guys guys guys guys!” Vicky yelled. We both turned.

“Well… That’s a problem…” A large hatch had opened on the side of the ship, and hundreds upon hundreds of alien-looking war robots were streaming out. I took a deep breath, harnessing the water molecules in the air. I forced them under my control, rain swirling around my gloved fist. Vicky lit her hands on fire, while Ellie gathered ice in her palms. They slid their masks on. Suddenly, PinkyRaven and Snowfall stood before me.

“You ready Nimbus?” Snowfall asked me, her blue orbs staring into my stormy silver. I nodded and slid my own mask over my eyes, preparing myself for the fight ahead.

“Yep. Time to go save the world. Again.”

Part 2

I shot into the air, using my rain as a propulsion system. PinkyRaven and Snowfall did the same with their respective elements. I thought it was extremely convenient that we were all Elementals; Rain, Fire, and Ice respectively. Almost like Author-Chan planned it… Oh crap, there goes the fourth wall. Vicky quickly seared the hole in reality shut with her fire before we all dropped down on the deck of the large black ship. We formed a circle back-to-back as the war robot things surrounded us. “Uh… I think we should have waited for back up…” PinkyRaven said, tugging at her large black gloves nervously.

“The rest of the Infinity Alliance is busy rebuilding New York after that huge battle they had. It’s just us.” I told her, gathering more rain in my hands. “Okay, on the count of three, spin in a circle and shoot everything. That usually works.” My two companions nodded, and I counted down, “Three… Two… One… Go!” I shot my rain out at the robots, the sheer speed of the water droplets penetrating the metal armor and making it spark. PinkyRaven blasted her’s with fire, melting everything in her path. Snowfall shot ice, freezing the gears. We slowly spun around, keeping our backs towards each other. It was actually quite an effective strategy, none of the robots able to get a shot off. Soon, they all were either waterlogged, melted, or frozen. I smiled lightly, dropping my hands o my sides and releasing any excess precipitation into the atmosphere. PinkyRaven laughed lightly, turning to us.

“Heh, wow. That actually worked.”

“Well of course it did!” I said, playfully punching her in the shoulder.

“Come on guys, we need to get inside before any more robots show up.” Ellie reminded us.

“Agreed. Pinky?” She smirked, and shot a beam of fire into the floor in front of us. It took a couple seconds, but she eventually burned a hole in the metal hull of the ship. We dropped through, using our powers to aid us in our descent. I looked around. We had ended up in some sort of hallway. It was all black, surprise surprise. Luckily, there were no guards, so we all stealthily wandered through the ship, searching for anything useful. Well, at least we tried to be stealthy. PinkyRaven ended up tripping over a corner somehow, but no one heard. She smiled sheepishly, and we continued on our way.

After at least ten minutes of searching, Snowfall finally suggested, “I think we should split up.”

“Are you insane?!” I asked. “Rule Number One of Horror Movies: Never, under any circumstances, split up! That’s how everyone dies!”

“We’re not in a horror movie though!”

“Creepy hallways; check. The color black; check. Unknown villain; check. I’m pretty sure we’re in a horror movie. Or at the very least a one shot…” I quickly pulled another tear in the space-time continuum shut before anything from Author-Chan’s world could get in, and said, “Let’s just search for a little longer.”

“Ugh, fine.”

After another five minutes of wandering through similarly-looking halls, we finally arrived in this large room area. It was almost as big as both entire IA (Infinity Alliance) bases, and that’s saying something (their bases are HUGE!). In the middle, there was a massive generator-looking thing. “Hey, that looks important. Let’s go blow it up!” PinkyRaven cheered, and gathered fire in her hands. She made a large ball of the flames, and shot it at the important-looking generator thing. The fire careened into it at high speeds, instantly lighting it aflame. Alarms went off, flashing red. “Oops… maaaaaaaaaaaaaaybe that wasn’t the best idea…”

“I second that. Let’s get outta here!” PinkyRaven said.

“Well, on the bright side, at least we destroyed… Whatever that was!” I said as we ran out of the room.

“Let’s just hope that wasn’t the propulsion engines and that this thing doesn’t crash right into the ground.” Snowfall replied.

As we ran, we passed an open doorway. We shot past it, but I quickly backpedaled when I got a glance of what was inside. It looked to be the control room. And commanding it all, was my little brother Jay.

Part 3

“Nimbus, what are you… Oh…” Snowfall said as she and PinkyRaven turned around and approached me.

“Yeah…” I said softly. Luckily, Jay hadn’t noticed us yet, and I hoped it stayed that way. Maybe we could avoid this fight altogether.

“Okay, here’s the plan. We’ll handle all the other turd blossoms in the room, you go deal with your bro.” Snowfall ordered.

“What?! No!” I whisper-shouted. “One of you guys has to at least help me!” Somehow, my brother had developed super-hearing since I’d seen him last, because he turned around and exclaimed,

“Ah, Nimbus. And you’ve brought some friends.” I mumbled under my breath,

“Oh frickity frakkin’ crapalapabingbong…” (Yeah, I have an interesting swear vocabulary, don’t ask).

“You don’t wanna do this, Jay.” I yelled to him, taking a couple steps into the room. Snowfall and PinkyRaven followed me, gathering their elements in their hands defensively. I waved them down as Jay shouted,

“I am not Jay! I am Blue Star!”

“That name belongs to Jay and Jay only!” I screamed. “I don’t know who you are, but you’re not my brother. And I’m going to take you the frick down.” Jay cackled menacingly, a foreign, wild look in his eyes.

“Hahahahaha, you?! You can barely protect yourself! And not to mention that this entire juncture was your fault, too.” I lowered my eyes to the ground. It was true; I had caused this.

“Deej, don’t listen to him.” Snowfall whispered to me. “He’s just trying to discourage you. I know you’re technically the leader, but right now I’m taking charge. Pinky, you and I are gonna attack these douchebags when I say go. Nimbus, you’re gonna go knock Jay out with something. We’ll bring him back to base, like I said earlier. Okay. Three… Two… One… Go!” We all jumped away, Snowfall and PinkyRaven attacking everyone else in the room while I made a break for Jay. I shot a stream of rain at him, but I intentionally missed. He dodged anyway, and I full-on tackled him to the black metal ground. I threw punch after punch to his face, but he blocked every one with his blue arm guards. He kicked me off, making me fly through the air. I stabilized myself using my rain. I hovered over Jay, firing bursts of water at him. He back flipped over them all. He couldn’t do that before. If there was any doubt in my mind that my li’l bro was not himself, this cast them out of my thoughts. I would apologize to Jay later; right now, I needed to take this imposter out.

“Enough playing around!” The blue-clad boy yelled in a voice way too mature to belong to my pre-pubescent brother. His fists lit aflame with blue fire, waving them menacingly. He wasn’t an Elemental like my comrades and I, but he had powers of his own. He shot the blue balls of energy towards me. I landed and ducked, tucking into a combat roll. I unfurled and straightened right as he punched me in the jaw, sending me flying backwards once more. My body thumped hardly on the metal ground. I groaned, trying to stand. He walked forward, smirking, and kicked me in the ribs. I grunted, trying to roll out of the way and stand. It didn’t work. He placed his boot on my torso, holding me down on the ground. “I’ve one, Nimbus. You’re party’s over.”

Part 4

As Jay monologued, I slowly pulled moisture from the air and gathered it in my palms. “You’re party’s over.” He said. I smirked.

“This party’s just getting started.” I suddenly shot the rain into his face, temporarily blinding him. I twisted myself to my feet, kicking Jay’s face in the process. I punched his chest, then kicked his legs out from under his feet. Now he was the one of the ground, with my foot on his chest.  I looked around at my surroundings, noticing a loose piece of metal laying conveniently next to me. I grabbed it, and whispered, “Sorry bro.” I whacked him in the head with it, effectively knocking him unconscious. “Guys! I’ve got him! Let’s get outta here!” I yelled to my two teammates, who were finishing up taking out Jay’s crew. They knocked out the last of them, then gave me a thumb’s up. I smiled. This had actually tuned out better than I had thought it would have.

“WARNING, WARNING: CRASH IMMINENT.”

“Oh, you’ve gotta be kidding me…” I exclaimed as I threw Jay over my shoulder and flew over to the other two.

“Do you two know how to steer an alien ship?” PinkyRaven asked, glancing frantically over all the flashing lights and buttons on the main control panel.

“I wish.” I said, at as much of a loss as the others were.

“Did someone say ‘alien ship?’” A familiar voice said from behind us. We turned and saw three friendly faces. My technopathic friend Felicity Brown, also known as Techna, Ivy Foster, our resident empath and polyglot named Empathy, and Aliza Winters, the time-traveler called TimeRunner. Techna wasted no time in running over and holding her hands over the alien technology, speaking with it in a language not even Empathy understood. As Techna was steering the ship away from danger, I turned to Empathy and TimeRunner.

“When’d you guys get here?” I asked.

“Just now. Kinda hard to ignore a huge alien ship in the sky.” TimeRunner said, smirking. Techna turned and said to us,

“Okay, the ship’s gonna go up really high in the atmosphere and self-destruct. I suggest we leave now.”

“I second that motion!” I exclaimed. “Let’s get the heck outta here!” I hoisted Jay up, PinkyRaven blasted a hole in the ship, and all seven of us jumped out. Empathy and TimeRunner hitched a ride with Snowfall, Techna just called her hoverboard to her, and PinkyRaven and I flew. We landed on the ground right as the ship started its ascent into the sky. We watched it with fascination as it soared above the clouds, turning away from the city. I breathed a huge sigh of relief. “Well. That was certainly something.” I said.

“We should probably go get Kandi to check on that once it blows up…” Techna said. Kandyce Rockwell was Techna’s mentor, as she was currently the only techno-organic in existence. She was also part of the original IA team, which raised her rank above all of ours.

“Yeah, probably.” I agreed.

“We should get back to base though. Jay’s gonna wake up soon.” Snowfall reminded us.

“Yeah, let’s go.”

Epilogue

Jay’s eyes slowly opened, focusing on the face in front of him. “Dykey…” He said softly. I smiled, leaning forward over the hospital bed and hugging him.

“I’m right here bro.”

“What happened…?”

“I’ll tell ya when I find out. Right now, just get some rest, okay?”

“Uh, why are you in your Nimbus suit? And… Why is Vicky standing in the doorway and grinning like an idiot?”
