When the Endangered Race Will Come Again

Chapter three

Then he read about the dragon master who dropped their eggs home. Sometimes the egg veered off course and landed somewhere else because it’s attracted like a magnet to a lot of gold but that was very rare since eggs went to dragons and no one was more rich than dragons. When the egg goes off course, it lands in a richer dragon’s cave. The dragon will then blow a puff of smoke at the egg. The smoke would then carry the egg to its rightful home. Snake decided to keep the egg. He worked for the rest of the day making copies of Kakita’s egg and putting them in glass cases. Then he took the real egg out of its case and hid it under the covers next to him. Then he curled up next to the egg and fell asleep.

He was shooting down a maze of tunnels. A lake of lava blocked him. He simply flew over it. He continued onward for about two miles.  Soon he reached a giant stone wall. Two dragons were standing in front of him. One stepped back and hit the wall with his claw. He flew in and with his tail flung the wall back into place. In front of him was a giant caver full of eggs and other dragons. He flew to a pile of eggs that had a two carved in front of the pile with ice spikes all around it. Just then a bright silver light filled the cavern. It grew brighter and brighter until he couldn’t see anything. Then a golden hand bagan to move through the cavern. It passed through any dragon that was in his way. Until it reached his pile. It grabbed the first one and wrapped his hand around it. It squeezed tighter and tighter until the egg disappeared. He looked around the cavern in a panic to see if the egg had for some reason teleported to a different spot. But the egg had vanished. He threw back his head and roared his loudest roar in the entire world. His egg, his precious egg was gone.

Then he was hurtling through a tunnel of light getting closer to a shimmering portal. He heard his mother’s anguished scream behind him but that died down until it was nothing but a little whisper. Suddenly he saw something that made him veer of course and towards a house. A house filled with gold. He shot through the house past a family calmly eating dinner up up. The second he passed the roof a tower began to grow and grow until he stopped and fell to the floor. Right before he hit the ground an empty chest appeared right below him and opened. He fell in and knew no more.

Snake shot out of bed and peered at the egg. It was silent in the cold night but Snake could barely see a faint glow coming from it. “So this is your past,” he said to the egg. The egg seemed to glow brighter. Snake smiled. “I take that as a yes,” he said.

Just then Snake realized something. He was going to war. He needed to prepare. He grabbed his sword and raced outside. It was still night and freezing cold. Snake pointed his sword at a nearby patch of grass. “SNOW,” he bellowed. An explosion rattled the ground. The patch of ceiling above the field collapsed bringing with it a mountain of Snow. Snake, lost in wonder, pointed his sword the other way “ICE,” he commanded. The ground there collapsed as a giant iceberg hit the ground. In a panic, Snake pointed his sword at the snow patch. “MELT,” he ordered. A huge flood of water washed all the snow away. Unfortunately the water got out of hand and began flooding the city. “ICE,” Snake said. “ICE ICE ICE.” Instead huge icebergs hit the water causing huge tidal waves to come crashing down. By now people were running out of their houses to see what was going on. Snake needed to think of a plan fast. He pointed his sword at the ground and screamed “GIANT ICE TOWER.” A giant ice tower appeared. Snake gave the tower a ladder and began to climb. He climbed and climbed until he finally reached the ground he crawled out of the hole. He had just collapsed onto the ground when he remembered Kakita’s egg. In a panic he dived back into the hole he made a giant ice slide in front of him and he slid down to the ground. The second he reached the ground he waded through the flooded street. Already the river that was running through the city had overflowed and was causing the pipes to begin to explode. Snake knew that once the pipes broke the city would be no more. Those pipes carried thousands of years of water. If all that water was released the city would cease to exist. He raced up the stairs to his house and then to his room. Kakita’s egg was trapped in an ice ball.

In a desperate fury, Snake began pounding on the ice but the ice was solid as rock. In a desperation Snake pointed his sword at the ball. “MELT,”  he bellowed. The ice dissolved. Snake picked up the egg and carried it down the stairs and out the house and towards the tower. With lightning speed he hurried up the ladder. Just as he reached the last rung the pipes exploded. The water level rose at amazing speed and began to fill the city. Snake leaped out just as a geyser of water shot out of the hole the tower made. Snake barely missed being flung into the air as the geyser hurtled past him.

Luckily, all the people had made it out in time. They were already setting up camp. Snake met up with his friends in a small clearing just outside the village. As soon as they saw him they began clapping.

“Dude that was incredible,” Sam said. “You should definitely be the Town Devil.”

“It’s nothing,” Snake said. “I’d have to flood an entire kingdom to become the Devil without fighting.”

“I don’t know if there will even be a city to have a Devil,” Max said.

Snake had never thought about that. “There’s the village,” he said.

“Wouldn’t the villagers refuse,” Peter pointed out.

Snake looked at his friends. “They wouldn’t dare,” he said. “No one does’nt shelter a city of armed robbers.”

The friends nodded.

“Let’s go get ourselves a home,” Snake said.

The friends walked out of the clearing and towards the village. When they got to the center of the village. Snake pointed his sword into the sky “ICE,” he bellowed.

A massive iceberg hit the ground next to a couple people. They screamed and jumped back.

“People of this town, my city has just been flooded. We demand that you give us your village. If you refuse you will be our enemies and believe me you do not want to be our enemies.”

The people looked at each other nervously. Finally two villagers ran away. They went past the borders and into the distance. Four people followed then eight then sixteen then the entire village took off. The friends high fived each other and walked off to choose each other’s houses.

Snake found a pretty looking house that overlooked a river that wound through the countryside. Snake used his sword to make some never-melting icicles hang from the roof. Then he added a mound of snow on top. Perfect. The second Snake entered his new home he saw that much needed fixing. The living room was full of pictures of the house owners and their families. Snake tore down the pictures and threw them in the fireplace. The kitchen was fine and so was the hall but the upstairs was a disaster. First Snake went into the first room. It was completely horrible. Snake piled up all the things into the fireplace and squashed the to big things with ice. Soon the house left no trace that someone had lived there before. Then Snake summoned a chunk of ice to appear on his floor and that served as a bed. Snake summoned clothes made out of ice to appear on him. Then he made an ice bookshelf for his collection that he was going to rebuild. It was amazing. There was just one thing missing. Snake put the egg on his bookshelf. And he pointed his sword at it. He imagined the cube of ice wrapping itself around the egg encasing it completely in ice. He concentrated as hard as he could then shouted “ICE.”

It worked, wrapping itself around the egg. Snake happily walked to the citadel. He took out a pickaxe and destroyed the statue of God and replaced it with an ice statue of the Devil. Then he met up with his friends in the town square.

“You have ice clothes,” said Sam.

“I know,” said Snake.

“You have ice clothes,” said Sam.

“Uh, yeah,” said Snake confused.

“YOU HAVE ICE CLOTHES,” Sam yelled.

Snake stared at Sam.“Uh, are you ok,” he said.

“Fine,” said Sam. “Just creeped out.”

Sam nodded. “What should we do,” he said.

“First I want you to make me an ice sword,” said Sam. “Second, I want ice armor. Third, I want an ice shield.”

Snake stared at him but he made the armor sword and shield and walked off to the hill his house sat on overlooking the river. Snake was bored. Suddenly he got an idea. He pointed his sword at the hill. “SNOW,” he bellowed. “LOTS OF SNOW.” A giant mountain of snow covered the hill. Snake walked over to the hill. He smiled and said “ MELT,” the snow poured down the hill and into the river creating a giant waterfall. With a smile Snake jumped in.  It was like a giant waterslide. Bubbles surrounded him and Snake knew he was traveling at incredible speed. When he reached the bottom he shot out and back floated on the river for a while. Then he jumped out to try it again. He spent his day like this all afternoon until it was too dark.

Then Snake began to walk back home. As he passed a rock he noticed something slithering out from under. He ignored it and kept walking. After a while he noticed the things all over the place. They slithered out from rocks and cracks in the earth until there were about thousands of them. One slithered up to him.

“Greetingss, Ssnake. We are honored that you have found your way into the land of the Sslandss. Our community livess underground right under your feet. Thank you for paying uss a vissit.”

Snake jumped back and pulled out his sword. Who are you,” he said.

“We are the Sslandss ass we ssaid and you I presume are Ssnake of dragon blood.”

Snake stared at the Sland. “What is your name?” he asked.

“I am Khan of the Bandesst tribe of the Kraggy clan. We have come to  help you in your quesst to defeat the heartless one. Snake raced up the hill at full speed. He dashed around trees and stumbled over boulders. He dashed into his home and up the stairs top speed. He opened the door to his room and pointed at the ball of ice.

“MELT,” he bellowed the ball broke open revealing the egg. It was covered in cracks. Chips scattered the floor. Another one fell off as he watched. Snake ran outside and out the door. He ran into the street and through the square. Soon he met up with his friends. “It’s hatching,” Snake gasped.

The six friends raced through the street. Snake ran with all his might. The night was cold and dark. As Snake moved closer to the bright lights of his house he saw that it was illuminated with pearly whight. Snake ran as fast as he could, the streets seemed to fly by. As soon as he was in his house he shot upstairs nearly knocking over the banister. With no time for the door Snake crashed into it turning it into splinters. With his friends at his heels Snake burst into the room.

It was quiet. The egg was emitting a bright light and as Snake watched it began to shudder. Suddenly Snake remembered long ago when he first found the book on legends. It was glowing the same color. The egg began to vibrate violently. It fell to the floor and began rolling this way and that. Finally it stopped. Snake, Bill, Joe, Peter, Max, and Sam clustered around the egg. The egg began to shake even more until it was just a blur spinning around and around. It spun faster and faster  until no one could see it. Then the egg began to shake slower. Slower and slower until it stopped. Then the first crack appeared Then the second then the third then the fourth. Soon Snake saw a little patch of silver. Then another then another then another. Soon he could see a little wing.
“Fantastic,” Snake muttered.

“What was that,” said Sam.

“Fantastic,” Snake repeated.

Max nodded. “It is fantastic,” he breathed.

Soon two little wings were sticking out. Snake picked up the egg. It felt warmer than ever.

“Sam, close all the windows,” he ordered. “Max, bring me some blankets.

“Got that,” said Sam.

“OK,” said Max.

Soon the egg was wrapped in blankets and all the windows were closed.

“Come on come one,” Snake pleaded.

The dragon slowly began to work itself out of the egg. A tiny little nose peaked out. Then the eyes, Then the ears. Then the mouth. Soon the head peeked out. Then a little tail.

“Peter, get some fish from the fridge,” Snake said. “Bill, get a plate.”

“OK,” called Peter.

“Got it,” said Bill.

The two hurried off.

“What can I do?” asked Joe.

“Keep an eye on the egg with me,” Snake replied.

He leaned back against the bed and looked at the egg. Just then CRACK. The egg began to rock until it cracked open with a big crack and out popped Kakita.
