“Emma!” Mark yelled.
“What?” Emma replied.,
“Come back! It’s not safe!”
“Yes it is, the inspector said its okay to mine.”
Mark sighed. “Over the roof of the mine is all gravel, it’s been added over the hundreds of years of the river flowing and depositing gravel.”
“Well, how do you know? And besides it might be filled with diamonds! Just think of all we can do with the diamonds!”
“I know cause-“He hesitated,”Cause my father was killed in that mine. May 9th, right on my birthday, I was turning four, he was mining for diamonds, to- to” Mark choked,” to give me some for my birthday.” Tears started running down his eyes, “the whole hill collapsed, my father was right under it.”
“Oh,” Emma said, “I didn’t know,”
“Wait!” Mark sounded alarmed, “Who was this ‘inspector’ anyway?”
“I don’t know, he was wearing a green shirt and blue jeans and a red sports cap.”
Mark gasped.
“What?” Emma said.
“You seriously don’t know who the glow griefers?” Mark sounded surprised.
“Well I think I heard something like that on the news, but I will have to say no, I don’t.”
Emma said.
Mark fell put his face in to his hands, it felt like a million years but might have been five seconds.
“You okay?” Asked Emma.
“I can’t believe you really don’t know who they are! Are- are you nuts? Bananas? Wackos?” cried Mark
“I would like some nuts and a banana, ok, why are worked up like that? It’s- it’s elementary!”
“Why? Cause it’s all over the news! You are supposed to be either blind AND deaf AND paralyzed or dead not to here— I going”
“What? Mark! Don’t go! I sorry!”
“Sorry for exploding, meet me ate Red Robin restaurant at 3:00 PM and I’ll tell you about the glow griefers.”
