The Coach
By Dom
Chapter 1: The Coach
The new coach seemed peculiar, and it wasn‛t just
because of the third eye. The new coach did not seem
like he had a lot of experience. I mean he literally had
us do the plank for an hour. Worst of all he made us
run around the school in the WINTER without our
coats on! This has got to be the worst coach and you
haven‛t heard his name Mr . Zowel . The worst
coach ever.
2 Days earlier: The first thing I remember is having
the best birthday until gym. The thing that made it so
bad was playing hockey . Yeah doesn‛t sound so bad
but a hockey puck to the ankle was the thing that made
it so horrible. The pain, seeing the bone through the
skin and the blood, oh the horror.
Then the coach said as I cried,“ Shake it off Jim.”
“I think it might be broken, Mr. Jon.” I said
“Then put some i ce on i t!” He yelled angrily. B y
then he already got in trouble for playing boxing inside
now for this he might get fired, I thought and I
thought right.
“Now we have this guy as our coach, man this
school has just gone down hill.” I called over to
William.
“Yeah you‛re right. Did you know that we haven‛t
had a replacement coach in 20 years?” William told me.
“What, is that real or did you make that up?” I
questioned.
“Well somebody might have. I don‛t know. It was on
a website so maybe,” he said.
“Well at least we have a gym teacher,” I
complained to Jim.
“Well ya that is the good part about it Zack!” Jim
stated with a loud tone.
“We had better get to class,” I suggested.
“Yeah you are right,” Jim answered.
“See ya tomorrow,” I said.
Chapter 2 : Gym
Today was an ordinary gym class we didn‛t have to
run around the school or do the plank for an hour. But
I had to play against my best friend and that wasn‛t all,
on my team we had two good players and Jim‛s team
had five good players. Though it wasn‛t fair he made us
go even though he knew it wasn‛t fair.
The team‛s were called The Bosses and The Hound
Dogs. The Hound Dogs were rocking it like crazy. The
Bosses had a great start but The Hound Dogs did not
start off well, it was 5-0 yeah they made a three
pointer. The Bosses lost the ball a couple of times and
The Hound Dogs also lost it like 2 or 3 times but they
were able to recover it more.
It was halftime and we had to come up with a plan
or something. So we did five out, two three and
diamond press. That plan worked out most of the time
but other time it failed we were winning 15-14. We
came back from the rough start even if we‛re winning
by one point in the third quarter.
The last quarter finally we were up by one most
likely to fail. Trying to collect all strength to win this
game getting ready for defeat.
“Ok that is all the time that we have to day!” Mr.
Zowel yelled to the class.
“What, all that getting ready for defeat and stuff
for nothing!” I yelled furiously.
“What are you talking about Zack?” Jim
questioned.
“Nothing!” I answered harshly.
“Ok yeesh.” Jim growled.
Epilogue
“Finally the championship! This is the first time
Green Valley High has ever gone to the Basketball
championship, well any championship for that matter! I
can smell victory and it is all because of our coach Mr.
Zowel and his training. Is that third eye fake? He
didn‛t know that the eye was on him because somebody
pranked him I think.” I said as I smelled the victorious
air.
“Yeah we owe it all to you coach,” Jim said
thanking the coach.
“Let‛s go win this game for a trophy for the trophy
case so we can be the proud owner of a trophy. Let this
day be the day that we win the first trophy and we
have fun,” The coach stated.
“Ok coach!” the team yelled.
“Coach did you know that you have a eye on your
forehead?” Bob questioned.
“No, who put that there!” He yelled as we started
run so he couldn‛t catch us but that didn‛t stop him.
Though he didn‛t catch us he almost caught
Camren it was a real close call.
“What are you doing?” Jim questioned.
“Playing Pokemon Go. Yeah there are a lot of
Pokemon, oh and we are running so I might hach an egg
and get a new Pokemon today before the game. Quick
question how can he go so fast!?” I questioned.
“Probably because he was in the Olympics! Did you
not read his article?” Jim answered and questioned.
“Sorry, No,” I answered.
“Did he stop yet?” Jim questioned.
“I think so,” I replied.
Then the game started. The other teams‛ kids
were huge like statues over a garden of little weeds.
But we had something that they didn‛t, Coach Zowel!
He will get us through it… hopefully.
The start of the game was a little bit rough but we
tied it up. Then we tried to shoot a three pointer
though we had bad players on our team we made it. It
also helped because they were doing zone defense. So
we were up 13-5 we might win this game and we kept
them down so we were winning in the first half but
they tied it up by halftime.
So now we had to face them man to man in the
third quarter and we were only up by a little bit. They
started to catch us but we kept them down by one
point. We managed to win by one point and that shot
barely missed the rim so we won the first trophy for
the trophy case.
“Good game,” I said to the other team as I ran by
their hand.
“We owe it to you coach and that harsh training!”
the team yelled.
