But what difference would one arrow make?
Oh, so many, GameKnight.
So MANY.
You just got to look into the heart of any situation, the gears that make the events turn.
And then you got to shoot for it.
It’s a losing battle between me and RedSnake4853 in the final round in the Greencrest Annual Archery Championship. Millions of loud chattering echoed in the arena as the people of Greencrest focused on me. I pulled the string with the arrow of my signature crystal ice bow, but there was no hope of winning.
With one exception.
My opponent has three hundred points while I have two hundred twenty five. Nothing in that target that stood fifty blocks away would help me rise above RedSnake4853’s hope of getting the trophy.
Except for the bull’s-eye.
The bull’s-eye on that target was so tiny it would appear as a black dot if you stood fifty blocks away. Hitting the heart of the target was worth a hundred points, making it my only hope of beating the King of the Archers.
Once and for all.
I turned my head to the crowd of people that was watching me on my left, and instantly spotted Cassie standing in the front line. She has her blond hair draped over her shoulder with a pink bowtie stuck to the tail of it. She wore a pink dress that reached down to her feet, the shade of the colour getting darker on the way down. Her dazzling blue eyes were full of happiness as she smiled towards me. So simple, yet so beautiful.
She didn’t say anything, but her eyes told me something I’ll always remember.
Chris… you can do it!
I simply smiled, then turned back to the target fifty blocks away.
“Alright, citizens of Greencrest!” I heard Mohammad Tomlison shouting to the crowd of people, “Frosty is going to need silence for this one!”
And then dead silence wrapped around the arena.
I pointed the arrow to the target.
Slowed my breathing…
Put tension on the strings…
And let the arrow fly.
Ponk!
The sound of the arrow cutting into the wooden target can be heard over the arena.
Have I done it?
Suddenly, cheering from the crowd broke out of the huge group of people. I saw Cassie jumping up and down in excitement as her blond hair flew around her shoulder. The smirk that was once on RedSnake’s face suddenly turned into the face of defeat. But none of that mattered. I simply smiled.
On the target that sat in the arena.
Contained an arrow sticking out of the bull’s-eye.
Fifty blocks away.
I’ve finally won.
