Schoolhouse Mystery

Henry is in high school. Jessie is in Jr high. Violet is in 6th grade. And Benny is in 4th grade.
“Why don’t you want to come over after school?” Benny asked.

“Okay.”

“What grade are you in?” Benny asked Mike.

“4th.”

“I am in 4th grade too.”.

“Awesome dude,” Mike said.

Benny laughed.

After school Jessie, Benny’s sister, said she was going to the library at school. “I want to go too!” Benny and Mike said at the same time.

“Okay, but Benny you don’t like to read.”

“I do to like to read!”

”Don’t fight,” Grandfather said.They went to the library. Benny saw a pretty girl. He could hardly take his eyes off the girl and her name was was Dj. They went to Dj. “Do you know where the Star Wars books are”?

“Well, we had some, but they were stolen.”

Benny stepped. He fell. “It looks like a passage back in time”.

“It might be why books are being stolen”.

“Let’s go down and see”.

They went down to see. Watch, the dog, barked loudly. “What is it with you Watch”? Jessie said. “Let’s go down and see”.

They saw hundreds and hundreds of books. “Wow”. They all said at the same time,” Jessie said.

They saw a table, cups, knives, spoons, forks, and plates. “It’s like a house underground.” They climbed up. They all saw a frightened man with a hat. Dj said, “He is always here.”

“He is always here with something in his bag”. Said Dj. “I wonder if he is the one who is living here.”

“Maybe,” said Benny. “Let’s go and talk to him”.

“Okay”. They went to talk to him. He was very mad. He walked away.

“Yep. He lives down there,” Benny said thinking.

“How do you know Benny?” Henry said.

“I don’t know. I think so though.”

The man came. “Hey you there! What is your name”? Henry was yelling.

“Stop Henry”! Jessie yelled.

“Please stop yelling,” Dj said calmly.

“Okay,” Jessie said calmly. The man was already gone. “We need to find out what his name is.”

“He’s gone forever”. Benny whimpered.

“Stop being such a baby”!

“You are a baby Jessie”. Benny yelled.

“Let’s go home now”. Henry said.

“Okay”. Violet said. Just then, Henry saw the man coming toward them.

“Hello,” he said.  Everyone was shocked.

“Hello”?  Henry said. “My, you are very tall.”

“Yes, yes I am.”

“I am sorry about the yelling,” Henry apologized.

“It is okay.”

“What is your name.?”

“Mr. Tall.”

“Will you be my friend?”Benny said.

“Yeah why not? Do you want to have dinner with us? “

“Yes,”

“How about at 5:30?”

“Okay,” Mr. Tall said.

“Do you know what we are having”.

“We are having hot dogs, corn chips, and pies”.

“Okay see you at 5:30.”

When it was 5:20, Mr. Tall was on his way. “When will Tall be here?” Benny asked.

Grandfather said. “At 5:30.”

Just then Jessie said, “He is here.” Benny ran out to the car.

“Hello Benny he said”.

“Will you please play with me?”

“After I talk to Mr. Alden.” “Okay”. Benny said.

“How have you been?” “Good.” “So what about the Cub Scouts in October.. “I have not told him yet”. Mr. Alden said. “How about when dinner will start.” “Okay”. Grandfather said. “

“Come on let’s play soccer with Jessie, Violet, and Henry.”

Benny said. “Okay.”Mr. Tall said. When they were playing. Grandfather said to Mr. Tall “time to tell him.” That night when dinner had started they told Benny. “What!” Benny yelled. He seemed very upset. “Are you upset?” “Yes!” “Why?” “Because l want to play soccer.” “You still can.

“It is only Friday night.” Grandfather said.

“I should get going now.” Mr. Tall said.

“Okay, will you meet me at the soccer fields at 9:00.” Grandfather whispered to Mr.Tall.

“Okay?” “But- just because.” Grandfather said.

Benny went into the room, “what are you talking about?” Benny asked.

“Oh nothing.” Grandfather said.

“Okay.” Benny said. “Can we go to the library today?”

“Okay.”

“How about at 3:00.”

When it was 3:00 Benny said time for library. “Go with Jessie, Henry, and violet.” Grandfather replied.

“Okay.” Benny said. When they were at the library they all forgot about the thing that happened with Benny. An hour later Grandfather called. Benny answer.

“Come to the soccer field.”

“Okay?” Benny said queerly.

“Tell Jessie to bring you home and we’ll get you ready for for.” Grandfather stuttered.

“Well,” Benny said.

“We are going to soccer.” Grandfather coughed on purpose while he said it.

When Jessie took Benny there was a surprise waiting for him. “It is a train!”

Benny yelled. “Yep.”

“It is.” Grandfather said smiling.

“Why do you like trains so much?” Jessie said.

“Because.”

“I thought you signed me up for soccer?”

“I did.”

“Can we go swimming tomorrow morning at the lake in Ohio?”

Why not. “We leave at 10:00 tomorrow”. Grandfather said.

“Can we go to see Mr. Tall?” Benny asked.

“Well, Yes. This afternoon we can go.”

“Okay?” Grandfather said.

“Can we go to visit Mr. Tall right now?”

“Why?

“Because I want to show him my train.”

“Okay.” Grandfather said. “Let’s go right now.”

“Hold on.” Mr. Grandfather said. “We need to do our chores first.” Benny.

“What!” Benny yelled.

“Yes we need to do our chores first Dude.”

Jessie said. We leave in a week or so.

“What!” Benny said again.

“Yes.”

“You have school for another month.”

“Okay.” Benny said with his face as hot as the sun.

“So when can we go to visit Mr. Tall. Right now?”Benny asked.

“We leave after we get our chores done.”Jessie told Benny.

“Now let’s get to work.” Grandfather said.

“O-key.”Benny said. Everyone laughed at Benny’s voice. So when they were at work Grandfather was sitting on his special chair. Just then Benny jumped up and said,

“Now can we go to see him?” Benny asked.

“No, not yet.”

“pllleeeeaaaaasssseeee.”

“Not yet!”Grandfather said.

An hour later Benny said, “now can we go to Mr. Tall. Benny asked.

“ Yes.” Grandfather said.

“Yes.” Benny said.

When it was time to go it was raining. “We can still go but we will need to hurry.”

“Okay I will go get Jessie, Henry, and violet,” Benny said.

Benny yelled and ran upstairs. “Come on!” “We need to leave!”

When they were at Mr. Tall’s house they arrived at 5:30. Grandfather shook hands with Mr. Tall.

“Hello,” Benny said hugging him.

“Hello,” he said smiling. “Nice to see you.”

“Hello, Mr. Alden.”

“Hello, What have you been doing, Mr. Tall?” Grandfather asked.

“Do you have a wife?” Benny interrupted.

“Don’t interrupt people,” Grandfather said.

“Okay,” Benny said.

“So what do you want to do with the birthday party?” Mr. Tall asked.

“ Well, I think It will be tomorrow afternoon,” Grandfather said quietly. “But don’t tell anyone about it. Not even Jessie or Henry?”

“Grandfather, we are going to go to see the library.”

“Okay,” he said with a sigh.

“Thanks,” Benny said running down.

“Be back by 7:30!” Grandfather said.

When they were at the library Benny found a note.

“Guys!” “I found a note!” “I found a note!” Benny yelled. “Looks like there’s a clue on it.”

The clue said, Someone tall is evil but inside is niceness. He has sold and stole. He has done it for about 7 years. And it will continue to happen. Someone needs to stop him.

“Let’s keep reading!” So Benny kept reading.

You will find another note at a library. The library’s address is 111853. That’s where you will find it. Keep these notes secret.He lives in a library. Remember he is evil in The inside and nice in the outside. Ken. to Mr. Tall. “I am so surprised that we found a note.”

Benny said with his mouth hanging open.

“I wonder if there is a way to stop him.” He said with a hand on his head.  “I bet there is a way to stop him.”  Henry said.

Just then they saw Mr. Tall walking up to them. “Stay away Grandfather said.

“Why?” Mr. Tall said. “Did you find the secret behind me.” He said.

“Why are you stealing?”  Benny asked Mr. Tall.

“Well, because I like it.”

“And I like it just the way it is.”

“And no one will stop me.”

“Ha ha ha.” “His voice sounded like a dragon roaring.” “And he threw a smoke cup and disappeared  in the light.”

“Wow!” Benny yelled. “We need to catch him.” He said with his hand up on his waist.

“We can tomorrow night.” Grandfather said calmly.

“Let’s go home.” Henry said.

This was the first time violet had spoken, “that was crazy.” When they were on their way home they heard a noise from the water in the woods.

“What was that sound?” Benny had said. But he was the only one to hear it. Then he heard it again? “Do you hear that?” he said.

“Yes I heard it,” replied all of them.

“Let’s run.” And so they scampered away. When they arrived at home they said, “we are definitely going to go see what that was.”

“Well you’re in luck because we are doing to go see what it was tonight?”

Said Henry,  “We need our rest.”

When the Aldens where sleeping they all had the same dreams. At 8:30 they were on the move, just like ninjas. They were very very quiet at Mr. Tall’s house. When they were at his house they tried to see what was happening but he was not in there.

“Maybe he is in the library?” Henry said.

“Good idea,”  Benny said with his finger pointing up.

Everyone laughed. When they were walking to the library they all heard the same noise. It sounded like a squeak. “Squeak!” “Squeak!” “Squeak!” “Squeak!”

“Do you hear that?” Benny asked.

“Yeah.” Jessie responded. “I wonder who it is?”

Answered Henry, “I hope Grandfather is okay.”

Said Violet, “So, let’s go to the library and spy on Mr. Tall.”

“Okey,  everyone said at the same time.” Except for Benny because he was thinking like usual.

“Well,” he was starting to say. “So much for Ohio.”

“You are right Ben,” said Henry.

We should call the cops and see what they have to say about it. The cops finally caught  Mr. Tall. And the Aldens finally got to go to Ohio. And that is the story.
