Chapter One
As Tommy brooded over the events of the past few days, he got to thinking about the reform
in Entity303. It almost seemed too good to be true. Sure, Empech’s magic fishing pole had
seemed to make him realize his true self, but what if he was faking it? Tommy himself had felt
Entity303’s pain through the fishing line, but could the villain have somehow diluted it?
It was after dinner, and Tommy had come up here to read the book his father had given him
around a week ago, but he stopped when he read the word “battle”. It was just too painful to
relive all those memories all the time. Villagers dying everywhere, fading corpses of friends
bursting into items…
At least he knew the villagers were safe now. Tommy had taken advantage of the unlocked
mods folder and added in a few helpful mods. The folder include things like Pokecube, so the
villagers always had companions wherever they went. There was also the helpful villagers mod,
so the villagers could have even more skilled fighting in battle. And Tommy spent a day
severing the section about walled villages from Witchery to help protect any still undefended
villages out there.
Tommy recalled visiting Minecraft multiple times to check if the mods were working.
The programs had helped lots, in multiple ways. He saw the little (and sometimes big) Pokémon
providing companionship to those who had lost friends and family. He saw villagers untrained in
self defense and combat instantly know how to fight with the helpful villagers mod.
One big change he noticed, though, was Hunter. He hoped it wasn’t the mods, but she was
acting strange around him. He noticed her trying to avoid him, yet also staring just as much.
Once, he even saw her punch a giggling little sister of hers (Stitcher) for seemingly no reason,
other than mentioning his name.
He brushed all that away, though, when the game’s new coding finally made its way to the
players. He suddenly had an overwhelming amount of words fill his head with messages about
the mods. He tried sifting through them and finally found one asking for him to choose his
Pokémon. He mentally right clicked, then images of Pokémon starters flashed through his mind.
He finally settled on his favorite creature from the anime, Piplup. A bright flash filled his vision,
and then a blocky little blue penguin was looking up at him, and a square red and white cub with
a button had found its way into his inventory. Then he realized he forgot about Tux! This was
basically like replacing her.
This was the favorite part of Tommie’s memories of the incident: As the little Piplup looked up
at Gameknight, he noticed its eyes were familiar. It started making sense when it rubbed up
against Gameknight’s legs like Tux always did. “TUX!?” he cried incredulously.
Suddenly, his mind was filled with the music of Minecraft. In between the melodies,
Gameknight could hear the Oracle chuckling to herself. He smiled. “ Oracle, did you do
this? ” Game knight asked mentally. He got no reply, only a few swells in the music of
Minecraft.
Tommy stopped daydreaming and decided to go to bed. He lay down and fell into a soft
peaceful sleep, filled with the faces of his friends (in particular, Hunter, for some reason).
