On Writing & Teaching
This page collects short essays about writing, creativity, and classroom practice.
I write from experience as a teacher and author, focusing on how students learn to think, make decisions, and transfer what they know. You might find some articles on writing – some musings on creativity, overcoming fear, and a few writing strategies that might be helpful for your students. Many of these pieces grow out of classroom moments, instructional tensions, or questions educators regularly face but don’t always have time to stop and examine.
Some posts are reflective.
Some are practical.
All are written for teachers who want to invite deeper thinking without abandoning what already works.

Why Did I Start Writing?

Say hello to Olive and Dory
Meet Olive and Dory Olive is the tiger on the left and Dory is the tabby on the right. We've had them for a little over a year. They came to us from a rescue shelter when they were maybe 4-months old and they're adorable. You can see them both sleeping in the cat bed...
Self-publishing
As many of you know, I started as a self-published author. I didn't do this out of choice, rather necessity. You see, I'd written four science fiction novels and I tried to get them published. It was a disaster. I stopped counting my rejections when they surpassed...
