All Day School Visit
An all-day school visit consists of:
- (3) 1-hour presentations.
- Bookmarks for every student.
- Lunch with a small group of kids (social distancing a must)
- Autograph books for those who purchase prior to the presentation
- books at the school on the day of the visit or shipped to me ahead of time
For How I Became an Author presentation, the audience could be any size, however, I found that kids want to ask a lot of questions, and in a group of 100+ only a few will get to ask their questions. I always leave time at the end of the presentation (15min-ish) for questions. Limiting the number of students in each presentation is beneficial to the kids.
For Story Brainstorm, Strategies in Storytelling, Dialogue, or other pedagogical talks, I’ve found that these work with a maximum of 50 kids with their teachers present (controlling a class of 50 elementary students terrifies me). I will provide a handout for each student. In addition, students will have access to both my Fan Fiction page, where young writers post their work, as well as the Writing Tips page, where I post my short video writing tutorials.
Stories written by your students can be emailed to me and will be posted to my Fan Fiction page. I will return an email to the student with a link to their story, so it is easy to find. Comments posted by other young writers always must be approved by me, so any negative or inappropriate, or disrespectful comments will always be blocked.
Bookmarks will be made available to every student.
Cost: $1200/day

- Book signing without students present

Skype/Zoom Visit
A Skype/Zoom class visit consists of:
- 1-hour presentation.
- Bookmarks for every student.
- Autographed books for those who purchase them.
- books shipped to me w/return shipping label
For How I Became an Author presentation, the audience could be any size, however, I found that kids want to ask a lot of questions, and in a group of 100+ only a few will get to ask their question. I always leave time at the end of the presentation (15min-ish) for questions. Skype sessions with 100 students can be difficult, especially for students at the back of the room. I would suggest limiting this to 50 students max, but I can do what you want.
For Story Brainstorm, Strategies in Storytelling, Dialogue, or other pedagogical talks, I’ve found that these work with a maximum of 50 kids with their teachers present (controlling a class of 50 elementary students terrifies me). I will provide a handout that you can print up for your students. In addition, students will have access to both my Fan Fiction page, where young writers post their work, as well as the Writing Tips page, where I post my short video writing tutorials.

Writing in Residency
Writing in Residency consists of multiple 1-hour VIRTUAL presentations for a single class across multiple weeks. The goal of Writing in Residency is to present multiple pedagogical writing strategies to kids, so they can develop a complete set of writing tools. An example of a series of workshops could be:
- Story Brainstorming
- Strategies in Storytelling
- Plot Construction
- Character Development
- Effective Dialogue
- . . .
This would be a buffet of writing strategies in which we could work together to select the right combination for your students. Throughout the residency, students could email me stories they’ve written, which I would post to my Fan Fiction page. I reply to each email with a link to their story, however, keep in mind some school firewalls will block my email responses.
Students will also have access to the writing tutorials on my Writing Tips page. Many of these short video tutorials will be referenced in the pedagogy presentations for students to refer to later.
At the end of the residency, students would select their best stories to be compiled into a book. I will create a cover for your book, offering 2 or 3 versions for the students to vote on. I will also help to format your student’s stories into a single book, with a table of contents, cover, and possibly a photo of the class, as you want. I will then assist you in self-publishing it on Print-on-Demand sites or on Amazon, and discuss the ramifications of each. Your students seeing their work printed in a book will be the highlight of your year!
Bookmarks will be made available to every student.
Skype/Zoom in Residency: Each session would be $250. Discounts for 3 or more sessions purchased.
In-Person Residency: Cost: $400/session for 3 or more sessions within a 25-mile radius of Clifton Park, NY
Extended Distances and Overnight Stays
For distances greater than 50 miles from Clifton Park, NY, travel costs can be discussed. Overnight stays because of extended travel times are a possibility and are welcome.
Let’s Work Together
