Meet Olive and Dory

Olive is the tiger on the left and Dory is the tabby on the right. We’ve had them for a little over a year. They came to us from a rescue shelter when they were maybe 4-months old and they’re adorable.

You can see them both sleeping in the cat bed I have next to me on my desk. They kinda compete to see who gets to nap there while I’m writing, but recently, it’s been Olive’s spot, Dory choosing in front of the fireplace instead . . . good choice, Dory.

They are a lot of fun. Olive and Dory play well together, hardly ever fight, and are very social, though sometimes too much. Recently, Olive has decided she likes chasing scrunchies and likes them being shot up the stairs. She will pace around in our office, meowing, to get my attention when she’s decided it’s playtime. If I don’t attend to her terrible moment of need, she’ll jump up on the desk and either sit on my keyboard, or walk back and forth across the keyboard, until I do what I’m being ordered to do. Yes, she has deleted paragraphs and chapters before, thanks Olive.

Dory, however, will chase anything. She is especially fond of ping-pong balls and loves to catch some air and jump for them. We started out with a bag of 50 ping-pong balls, and now we’re down to 25, but I don’t know where the others have gone. Either Dory ate them, or there in that place where single socks go to hide after doing the laundry??? I’m sure when we sell our house in the distant future, we’ll find all the ping-pong balls, and fake mice, and fuzzy balls, and pipe cleaners (a favorite of both cats) . . .

You’ll see more of the cats in the future, I promise.
