SHOW DON’T TELL

It’s always a challenge to get young writers to understand the difference between Showing and Telling. When they finally see the distinction, they can see when they are telling in their own writing, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy to change a Tell to a Show. I’ve found many kids have no idea how to show . . . this is where this lesson comes in. 

I struggled with showing instead of telling in my earlier books, but after writing over a million words, I’ve developed a strategy on not only how to do it, but also, how to teach it. I’ve broken Showing into specific, manageable steps and have taught this strategy to countless young writers . . . it works!
