The Minecraft Diaries – Secret under the Surface: GameKnight’s Dream
(This story takes place in Mark’s first book in the fourth series (Maybe???) and FrozenBoy20’s third book in the first series.)
GameKnight999 – The Dream
“User-that-is-not-a-user, you look… tired right now…” Crafter said to me, “You really should sleep right now if we’re going to get anywhere tomorrow.”
It was just me, Crafter, Hunter, Stitcher, and Herder out in the deep forest. It was nighttime, which means unknown dangers that lay hidden behind every single tree. It forced us to stop our hunt for the golden Polarite and make camp in an opening in the woods. Everyone except me and Crafter were asleep in their sleeping bags.
“Do you think I can sleep after what happened?” I asked my friend.
“I know it was horrible, User-that-is-not-a-User.” Crafter replied, “But you’re our leader, and a leader isn’t supposed to be unaware of a situation…”
“Alright… then. I’ll take a nap-“
“Not a nap, GameKnight. It’s sleep that you need.”
“Fine…” I muttered.
I went over to our sleeping bags. I was just about to cover myself up when I noticed Crafter was still sitting by the fire.
“Crafter… What about you?” I asked.
“Don’t worry, User-that-is-not-a-user.” He replied instantly, “I’ll sleep eventually, but someone has to keep watch of the camp.
I nodded and said, “Alright, good night.”
Crafter smiled in response.
I went into the sleeping bag and closed my eyes.
And drifted off.
And dreams.
***********
The silvery mist surround me.
And this place…
Why is this place so familiar?
“Gam…night…” a voice said in the distance.
Instinctively, I went for my diamond sword, but it wasn’t there. I looked around, looking for the source of that voice that belonged to someone.
“GameK…ght9…” The voice said again, this time more clear.
“WHO IS IT!?” I shouted to the voice, “SHOW YOURSELF, I’M NOT SCARED OF YOU!!!”
“GameKnig…999!!! HEL…O!!!” The voice shouted in response. For some reason the voice sounded familiar, as if I had met this guy. But whatever it is, it’s probably not interested in killing me either.
“GameKnight!” Someone shouted behind me, and I turned around to see who it was.
Clearly he was a man, He wore a sky blue t-shirt and a dark blue pants. He had bright blue hair and blue eyes that is cold as ice.
FrozenBoy20.
“Um… so… what’s up?” I asked awkwardly.
“Unless you count the skeletons I had to kill and zombies that I had to cut into green, fleshy confetti, I’m okay.” He answered confidently.
“FrozenBoy… what am I here for?”
“I’m here to tell you something… something about Herobrine.” He said in a cold tone, which I really DON’T like. “Herobrine… he’s is not what he seems, GameKnight.”
“FrozenBoy, all I see in Herobrine is hatred to everything and desire to kill us all. What else is there? Sunshine and rainbows?”
“DEFINITELY not sunshine and rainbows, GameKnight.” He answered, “But I’m going to tell you: the hatred in him and the desire for world domination is only half of Herobrine’s story.”
“Oh yeah? What else is there in Herobrine?” I challenged him.
“Herobrine has a brother who is Steve… You know him, right? And I don’t mean the default skin for new players, I mean the REAL Steve.”
I remembered reading a book all about Steve in the village library, but I only remembered one detail about him. “Steve was the first guy to slice up the Ender Dragon.” I recalled.
“Yeah, that guy. He’s a friend of mine.”
“Friend of yours!?” I said in disbelief. I had no idea FrozenBoy was a friend of the legendary Steve. But then again, I only met him twice including right now. The last time was the battle with the bandits and the wither named Scaledrus.
“Yeah… on the first day of meeting Steve, he told me all about his brother Herobrine.” FrozenBoy20 explained, “He was still pretty shaken up at the time, but still was able to tell me why he wasn’t here.”
“Well, what happened to Herobrine?” I asked out of curiosity.
“He had a dream…” He began.
“I’m listening.”
“Good, because it’s about to get a whole lot more complicated.” Then he started to ramble off, “He had a dream that he was standing on a cliff that overlooked his house. He turned around just to see Herobrine lying on the ground on his stomach moaning for help, Steve rushed to his brother but instead was blown back off to the edge of the cliff by the sudden appearance of… somebody…” And he trailed off.
“What did he look like?” I asked.
“Steve described him as if he is going to be a nightmare for the rest of his lives. The creature’s body was what you’ll see in a normal Minecrafter but he was black all over but with purple eyes, he had those black silk-like structure and particles that surrounded him, floated in midair and he had layers of shadows within him that mimicked his movements one by one. He appeared next to Herobrine and in a raspy voice, he said ‘Weak little Minecrafters, but I suppose you’ll do.’ That’s what he said to Herobrine.”
He continued, “Then he said to Steve ‘I will take over the world of Minecraft. I will reach The Source and then destroy them all.’ He also threatened that his loved ones will die right in front of him if he ever interferes with the process.”
“It sounds like the same thing Erebus and… Herobrine would say.”
“Exactly, Herobrine is being controlled by an unknown creature. But let me finish the story.” Said FrozenBoy20, “The creature left Steve with one final message, which was about never interfering with him taking over Minecraft. The creature forced his hand out, blowing Steve of the cliff and on to the rooftops of his house. Then he woke up on his bed to see his BROTHER’S bed was empty, he ran through the house with no sigh of him, he ran off INTO the woods to their secret base and found no sign of him, and he believes he was really taken by the creature. After that, he founded me lying on my back unconscious.”
“That’s it? That’s all there is to it”
“There’s more to that, GameKnight. If you have to know more of Herobrine’s backstory, you’ll have to abandon your quest for the Polarite and start searching for Herobrine’s diary in the stronghold, because you’ll have a better chance defeating him in a fight with his past instead of finding the Polarite.”
“Why-“
“I can’t stay for long, GameKnight. But I’ll leave you with a choice: find the Polarite or figure out the backstory of Herobrine. And if you DO decide to head to the stronghold library, you’ll need this.”
FrozenBoy20 handed me five of his Ender Eye’s.
“I can’t force you to find the stronghold, because it is your choice. You’re about to wake up now, and you’ll have to decide which one it is you want.”
“But-“
“See you later, GameKnight999. Hopefully, we’ll meet again in a more… peaceful circumstance.”
And everything disappeared in front of my eyes.
**********
I slowly opened my eyes.
It was morning.
The sun shone into my eyes and I heard my friends talking about something.
And I decided to listen to their conversation as I pretended to sleep.
“… about the Polarite anyways?” Hunter asked.
“The Polarite is the only thing that can defeat Herobrine permanently, and we need two of those to craft a Polarite Sword.” I heard Crafter respond, “Only the User-that-is-not-a-User can wield the sword, and use it to cast Herobrine’s presence into the void forever. Or at least that’s what the book says.”
“Well, we better get them if we don’t want him to ruin our lives anymore.” Stitcher says.
And that was the time I decided to interrupt their conversation.
“Soo… sounds like you guys have been busy.” I interrupted.
“AHHH!” Stitcher jumped, and then she turned towards me looking annoyed, “GameKnight! Don’t do that to us anymore!!! You scared me to death!”
I can clearly see that Crafter and Hunter was trying hard not to crack up, but I heard them snickering. Then I realized that Herder was nowhere to be seen.
“Where’s Herder?” I asked.
“Don’t worry, User-that-is-not-a-user. He’s just out to get some more wolfs in case we have more run-ins with some monsters.” Crafter replied calmly.
“Okay, good.” I breathed a sigh of relief, “Also, plans are changing, guys.”
“What!?” They all exclaimed in unison.
“I said plans are changing. We’re not looking for the Polarite anymore.” I replied.
“But I thought-“ Hunter began, but I raised my hand to interrupt again.
“Just hear me out, okay? Because it’s a little hard to explain.”
“Alright, then. Spill it.” Hunter said.
“I was in the Land of Dreams again…” I began.
They all pressed in to listen.
“FrozenBoy20 was there.” I said.
“You mean the ice guy we met with the battle with the bandits and Scaledrus?” Crafter asked.
“Yeah, that guy.” I replied, “He told me to abandon our quest for the Polarite and instead look for the stronghold library. FrozenBoy also said that we’ll have a better chance of defeating him if we read his diary, so we can pinpoint his weaknesses.”
There was an awkward silence between all of us. Then Hunter finally broke it.
“That Frozen whoever guy is insane! I would keep going for the Polarite if I were you.” Hunter said in rage.
I ignored her and continued explaining, “He also gave me this when we were in the Land of Dreams, but I don’t know if I still have it…”
I reached into my inventory and searched for the five Ender Eye’s FrozenBoy20 gave me in the Land of Dreams. Then I felt something round… and I took it out.
Five Ender Eye sat in my hand.
“Impossible…” I muttered.
“It wasn’t there before…” Stitcher trailed off.
“I have no idea you can do that in the Land of Dreams…” Hunter said quietly, “I had no idea you can give someone an item and it’ll appear in your inventory when you wake up…”
“How about this: We will look for the Polarite AND Herobrine’s diary. Is that good?” I explained.
“That is a good plan, GameKnight… but we only have three more days until the village calls for a search party.” Crafter said grimly.
I threw one of the Ender Eye that FrozenBoy20 gave me, and we watched it fly out of my hand and… to the ground?
“Well… three days is good enough.” I replied moments later.
“Because the stronghold is just right under our feet.”
