A Minecraft Bandit’s Life

Book One

Chapter 1 – Meepboomvroom

Meepboomvroom ran around the cluster of trees, hoping to lose the knights chasing him. His cubic legs, moving like pistons next to a redstone clock, never stopped unless interrupted. But in his case, interrupted was getting away. Weaving through the trees, he finally heard the clanking of metal against metal disappear. Meepboomvroom stopped, bending over as he gasped for breath.

“OMG, that was close!” he wheezed. You see, Meepboomvroom was a Bandit, exiled from the Kingdom of Minecraftia. He was also a member of a group named The Bandits, also known as the rouges. They had very high tech gear, including guns. The kingdom didn’t have that kind of gear. Instead they had tough armor, which was the tradeoff. Meepboomvroom had already been with the Bandits for a while and had chosen a shotgun as his weapon of choice, always carrying it with him.

He had gone into the kingdom earlier that night; he was looking for some metal because the Bandits were running low and they needed metal to make the weaponry and add-ons. So far he had gathered three metal bars, two rusty plates of metal, an old watering can, and two axe heads. For a new Bandit, this was great, but for Meepboomvroom, he was clearly one of their elite, meaning he was meant to get more. Then he saw a knight walking down a cobblestone path, his armor clanking. Meepboomvroom realized that he could take out the knight and gather his armor, thus completing his run. Of course, the noise it would cause was what he was concerned about. I mean, he had a suppressor (silencer) but a shotgun is loud either way. He decided to go for it. Man I hope this works, he thought. He slowly crept up behind the knight, pulled out his shotgun, and started his assault on the guard. First he shoved the nozzle into the knight’s back, causing him to fall to the ground.

“What in the world?” asked the knight? Meepboomvroom grunted as he struck his armor and pulled the trigger. The knight’s body slumped as Meepboomvroom grabbed his armor and sword just as footsteps could be heard from around the corner.

“I think that is my cue to go,” he said as he began sprinting away… Meepboomvroom finally walked into a clearing. Tired and thirsty, he began to move farther into the interior as a camp came into sight.

“The camp,” he wheezed, clearly exhausted. He saw people milling about, and people guarding, when a woman named Molly spotted him.

“Meep’s back, and he looks tired!” Many people rushed to his aid. The first to reach him was an elite male like him named Jack who helped him down the hill to a seat.

“Are you OK Meep? You seem tired,” said Jack.

“Give me some food and water and I’ll tell you,” Meepboomvroom replied. Jack dashed off to the kitchen, which wasn’t much. More like a large sack of rags and sticks thrown together, mostly because the other Bandits were still working on it. By now a crowd had gathered around Meepboomvroom asking if he was OK and if his run was successful.

“Get out of way,” yelled Jack. A path cleared for Jack to run through.

“Doing OK?” Jack asked, holding out some bread for Meepboomvroom, who snatched the loaf away and ate the whole thing in a matter of seconds.

“Better,” Meepboomvroom replied. Jack then held out a small cup of water, which Meepboomvroom gulped down.

“OK, so what happened on your run, Dude?” Jack asked. Meepboomvroom replied with a sigh and began telling the crowd what happened.

Chapter 2 – The Siege

“And in the end, I made it back here,” Meepboomvroom finished.

“Wow!” Jack replied. “Where is the stuff you got? We can throw it right in the forge.”

“Right here,” Meepboomvroom responded as he threw the items to the ground.

“Great j…” Jack’s sentence was cut off by distant shouts.  It was then that it dawned on Meepboomvroom – the knights that were chasing him hadn’t lost him – they had taken off their armor and followed him, reporting back to their King – meaning they were under attack! He turned in the direction of the shouts and could see the battlefield.

“You get the generator out of the forge, I’ll keep the knights away!” he shouted to Jack who replied with a quick “OK” and ran to the forge. Taking out his shotgun, he turned to a group of three knights who had broken through the formation and were charging right at him. With a plan in mind, Meepboomvroom ran at the knights, confusing them for a second, but they quickly recovered and continued their charge. When he was only five blocks away from the knights he slid in between them and came up the back. Overconfident, the knights turned around only to be greeted by a trigger being pulled.

As the three knights fell to the ground Meepboomvroom turned around and gasped. Molly and Jack were both losing battles! He knew that he could only save one of them. He felt like Jesse in Minecraft story mode! He knew that he only had a matter of time before they both got killed! He made a decision, Molly was a great friend but he knew that Jack was the right decision. The bandit code said to help elite before helping normal bandits or recruits. He ran to Jack’s aid. Using his shotgun as a battering ram, he smashed into the two fighting Jack like a truck. Jack quickly used his duel pistols to shoot the two knights on the ground.

“Thanks.” Jack said. Meepboomvroom turned around only to see molly on the ground with a sword sticking out of her chest.

“No time to mourn Molly’s death right now.” Meepboomvroom sighed.

“You got the forge engine right?” he asked Jack.

“Right here!” Jack replied.

“Now let’s get out of here! I saw Wolf_Man get out of camp!” Wolf_Man was the Bandit’s leader.

“I hope almost everyone is ok.” Meepboomvroom thought as they ran out of the camp.

“You ok man?” Meepboomvroom asked Jack.

“Yep.” Jack replied. “Good job following the code, you saved me instead of Molly.” Meepboomvroom sighed.

“Well we can’t mourn yet, we’re still surviving and on the run.” Jack said as they walked into a clearing. “Hey dude, I think we can set up a permanent base here. What do you think?”

Jack asked. Meepboomvroom surveyed the area, “Sure” He replied.

“Ok, I’ll get some wood.” Jack said as he pulled out his hatchet. Jack had managed to grab it from the armory before they ran off along with two metal pickaxes and sixty-four torches.

“Hey!” Meepboomvroom yelled to Jack, “Can I have a pickaxe?” Jack replied with a nod and threw the pickaxe to Meepboomvroom, who caught it expertly. He jogged over to a cave in the hill next to the clearing. Taking out a torch in his left hand and his pickaxe in his right he began to descend into the cave.

Chapter 3 – Settling

Placing the first torch on the wall, Meepboomvroom began to mine stone out of the wall. Breaking each block with a hefty grunt. He grabbed each block and put it in his large camo backpack. He heard a groaning sound from around the corner. He knew it was a zombie before he saw it. You see, you may be thinking that there’s nothing to worry about. But in this universe it’s like a zombie from the walking dead. That means they are a TON more dangerous than normal Minecraft zombies. Meepboomvroom smiled, he hadn’t killed a zombie in a while so he wanted to polish up on his skills. Spinning around, Meepboomvroom grinned at the zombie. He took out his gun and sprinted towards it. He first went for an uppercut strike, not wanting to waste ammo until they had the forge set up. The zombie stumbled backwards and tripped on some gravel. Meepboomvroom then smacked it in the forehead multiple times. Once it stopped moving Meepboomvroom started to search it what he found was great! The zombie had a full box of matches on it.

“Score!” Meepboomvroom said to himself. He grabbed the blocks still on the floor and continued to descend.

When he came back to the surface the first thing that he heard was,

“TIMBERRRR!!!!!” and then the crash of a tree. Meepboomvroom shrieked as a tree came crashing down in front of him.

“Are you trying to kill me!?” Meepboomvroom asked.

“Oh, hey Meep! Sorry I didn’t see you there.” Jack replied. Meepboomvroom sighed,

“It’s ok, I got some stone, coal, and iron from down in the mines. I also got some matches from a zombie. You?” Jack fumbled around in his backpack and pulled out a stack of compressed logs.

“Just about a stack of wood. Can you build our base camp with this?” Meepboomvroom answered with,

“I guess so. Can you give me some?” Jack threw Meepboomvroom sixty-four logs.

“Thanks.” Meepboomvroom said. He took out his crafting table and threw it down. He put the wooden logs down on it and began to craft some planks. Bringing the saw back and forth he finally finished crafting the first batch. Turning around he took out the planks and placed the first block of the outline.

Placing each block one at a time he finished the outline and then moved on to the frame. Making each pole out of cobblestone and placing them in the corners as support beams. Then he put down more across the support beams and tied them with a strong plant they had found to join them together. After tying the beams he put up one beam in the middle and placed two beams in a perpendicular shape. He then tied those beams together and started with the door frame. He first put down a shorter pole made of wood on the left and right, then put a wooden plank in the top. To ensure balance he tied it with the plant they found on the left and right. He then started the inner wall with wood, filling each block with a small slab of wood in each space. Then he did the same on the outside, except with cobblestone. Once done he began to shape a door, he made sure there were holes for sight. He then went inside and started to dig up the ground to replace it with wooden flooring. He then put in wooden slabs for the floor. Once done, he put up the walls under where he had made the perpendicular shape to separate the rooms. Lighting a torch he put one or two in each room. He then went back outside to get his crafting table to start the furnishing.

Meepboomvroom went outside to be greeted by an elk at the side of the clearing.

“Food,” Meepboomvroom exclaimed! He opened his backpack and looked through it for a knife of some sort, but what he found surprised him. It was a pistol! On it was a sticky note that read, “Here, I bet you could use this. It served me well. Wolf_man.” Next to it was a bag full of ammo! Meepboomvroom smiled at the gift and picked it up. The gun had a silencer on it and was loaded. He looked up at the elk and said,

“Perfect.” Aiming for the elks head he fired. The bullet went straight through its head, killing it instantly. Meepboomvroom did a quick fist pump and then went for the crafting table. He picked it up and started back to the house. Before going inside he called out,

“Hey Jack, could you bring in the elk on the side of the clearing?”

“Sure!” Jack replied from around the corner. Meepboomvroom then waltzed inside to begin furnishing.

When Meepboomvroom finished, the whole building was much better. He had two bedrooms, the forge room, and the kitchen. They were each taking a nap as the elk cooked in the kitchen. They didn’t have a cut chart so they had to improvise. Meepboomvroom slowly got out of bed and stepped outside. His welcome greeting was a creeper on the side of the clearing, which then immediately began to scurry towards him. Meepboomvroom quickly fumbled for his pistol. Taking it out of its holster he quickly cocked it and fired it at the creeper. The creeper was throw back onto the ground, dead. Meepboomvroom smirked at the dead creature and harvested the gunpowder. He knew of many uses for TNT, all explosive. He then circled the building, looking for any threats. When nothing turned up, Meepboomvroom turned and walked through the open door.

Chapter 4 – The New Recruit

“Wait, open?” Meepboomvroom thought. He clearly remembered closing the door. Taking out his pistol, Meepboomvroom slowly walked in. His gun at the ready, pointing up. He first checked the kitchen, checking the crates and other containers. When nothing came up, he checked his room. Being greeted by a rugged, scraggly, knight. Screaming Meepboomvroom fell to the ground, rapidly firing his firearm into the knight’s shoulder. Screaming in pain the knight blindly swung at Meepboomvroom. The last thing Meepboomvroom saw was the flat of a sword hitting his head.

Meepboomvroom’s eyes fluttered open, wondering what happened. Taking in his surroundings he saw Jack resting on a chair and a knight tied to a chair. Meepboomvroom remembered the knight as the intruder from earlier. He then realized he couldn’t feel his left leg. Slowly looking down Meepboomvroom screamed. It wasn’t his leg that he was staring at, it was a wooden brace shaped like a leg. Jack jumped up, startled by the scream. The knight just stared at the floor.

“Phew! I thought I lost you Meep!” Jack said in a relieved fashion.

“What. Happened. To. My. Leg?” Meepboomvroom asked slowly.

“Ohhhhhhh…” Jack trailed off,

“I’m going to put this as gently as I can, can you see that guy over there? The one in the chair? Yeah, he cut it off. I made the wooden leg as best I could but, well, let’s just say I wasn’t listening in medical class.” Meepboomvroom immediately face palmed.

“Are you kidding me? That class was mandatory! How did you pass the tests?!” Jack just grinned.

“You know me.” He then chuckled.

“Hey, get out of bed, I want to see my handiwork.” Slowly getting up Meepboomvroom grunted as he hit the floor.

“Not bad actually!” Meepboomvroom said as he walked around the room.

“Try running around in it.” Said Jack. Meepboomvroom began to run around the room,

“Still is working!” As if on cue Meepboomvroom’s wooden leg buckled.

“Argh!” Meepboomvroom shouted as he hit the floor.

“Never mind.” Meepboomvroom said through gritted teeth.

“I am offended! But really, that was the best I could do.” Jack replied as Meepboomvroom started to get up.

“Well, I guess I can fix it. You interrogate this guy.” Meepboomvroom said, gesturing to the man on the chair.

“Ok.” Replied Jack.

Meepboomvroom Walked out of the forge room with a now metal leg. The new leg had padding on the outside colored black. There was redstone dust on the inside pushing small pistons that were activated by redstone torches powered by blood so the leg knew when to move and how. Above all that was a camouflage paint made especially for all terrain movement, and finally there was leather padding on the bottom so that it would be completely silent.

“Wow! That looks pretty cool! Great job!” exclaimed Jack as Meepboomvroom walked in. All that was left of the enemy soldier was a slumped form and a small chest of his items.

“Get anything out of him?” Meepboomvroom asked Jack.

“Nothing but his items,” Jack replied. Meepboomvroom looked in the chest and all he saw was a few items including…

-1 Iron sword

-32 cooked porkchops

-128 Iron ingots

-1 Bow

-64 Arrows

-1 Flint and steel

The final item in the chest was a book. Meepboomvroom picked it up and read the cover.

“Invasion of the Overworld, By Mark Cheverton.” He read out loud.

“I’ve heard of him. You read that series, didn’t you?” asked Jack.

“I didn’t just read it, I adored it! Best series I’ve ever read!”

“Really?” asked Jack.

“One-Hundred and ten percent!”
