Something Strange

Chapter 1: Fallen

It was a beautiful day outside, perfect weather, the sun was high in the sky and there was a calming summer breeze blowing. Yup, perfect day to play chase with your friends, which was exactly what, Maddie Christie and Kaelynn Morimoto, were doing.

Maddie and Kaelynn were closer than ever, but even though they were so close, they had almost nothing in common. Maddie was older, a bit more mature, and sometimes took caution too much, but even though she was like this, she did like playing with her friends. While Kaelynn was a bit younger, and more free spirited, which is what made those two fit together like a puzzle.

The two girls were playing chase at the foot of Mt. Ebott, they saw a bit of a small cave, they both knew the legend about the great mountain, whoever climbs the mountain are said to never return. Even though the legend may be true, they didn’t believe the part where monsters lived under it, which is why they weren’t scared to play chase there.

“Hey Kaelynn, come check this out!” Maddie called out. She was standing right by the cave in the mountain, then Kaelynn came over.

“Woah, do you think this is the cave the legend talks about?” she asked when she ran over.

“Yeah, hold on,” Maddie responded picking up a rock. She then threw the rock into the cave and listened to see when it would hit the ground. After about a minute or so, she heard a loud thump.

“We should probably play chase a bit further away, we wouldn’t want to fall down, it seems like a long enough drop to hurt us pretty bad,” Maddie said.

“Ya, and if we survive, we wouldn’t want any monsters coming after us, oooooooooooooooooh,” Kaelynn said weirdly.

“Aww c’mon Kaelynn, everyone knows that story about monsters is just a myth,” Maddie said walking away.

“You’re right, I know, I was just messing with you,” Kaelynn said following her.

Then the two girls played the rest of the day. They then came up with an idea to play blind chase, which is where both people have a blindfold or they close their eyes and they play chase. So Kaelynn was the one being chased, and she ran towards the cave but didn’t know, so she then tripped and fell in, but she was able to hang onto a vine. She howled and screamed for her best friend to come and save her. Immediately Maddie came rushing over to save her. She grabbed the vine and tried with all her strength to pull her friend up, then the vine started to snap.

“Ah, Maddie grab my arms!”Kaelynn shouted

“I can’t you’re too far away, I can’t reach you,” Maddie responded.

Maddie then pulled harder on the vine, but wasn’t strong enough and she too started to slide off herself, and before they knew it, they were plummeting into the underground.

Chapter 2: The Underground

It was dark, there was a small glimpse of light shining through the hole and down onto the two girls. They had landed on what appeared to be a bed of buttercups, which was the one thing that had broken their fall.

They both woke up, only a little bit soar.

“Well this is great, I told you blind chase was a bad idea,” Maddie yelled as she stood up and brushed the dirt off of her pants

“Hey, I’m not the only one to blame here, you wanted to do it just as much as I did, and you should’ve grabbed my arms, not the vine,” Kaelynn shot back at her standing up as well.

“Ok, fine, how about we both say sorry since we’re both to blame here, and stop fighting, so we can find a way out of here together, it doesn’t look like we can get back the way we came down,” Maddie said.

“Alright, I’m sorry,” Kaelynn said.

“Me too,” Maddie responded.

Then they hugged, and started walking. There was a small pathway leading to a purple doorway, so they went over there and went through. They didn’t see anything but a patch of grass, it was a good thing they were holding hands, they wouldn’t want to lose each other in dark rooms like the one they were in. They cautiously walked towards the patch of grass, then suddenly a golden flower with a face, came out and began to speak.

“Howdy, I’m Flowey, Flowey the flower, hmmm two humans, that’s strange, there’s never been more than one human that’s fallen down here at the same time, anyways that doesn’t change anything, because you’re still new to the underground aren’tcha?” Flowey asked.

They both nodded slowly, because they were really scared, seeing as how apparently, the legend about monsters was true.

“Well someone oughta teach you how things work down here, I guess little old me will have to do, you ready, here we go!” he said, then suddenly, two hearts appeared in front of their chests, both were a deep pink.

“Huh, well that’s interesting,” Flowey said.

“W-w-what is?” Kaelynn asked shakily.

“Your souls, they’re pink, I’ve never seen a pink soul before, at least not in person but I do know what it means. First, how do you two know each other?” he asked.

“W-w-we’re best friends, and we have been for a very long time,” Maddie responded.

“Well that makes sense, you see girls, each living creature has a soul, it’s the very culmination of a being. Each soul has a different trait, the ones that are known are, kindness which is green, integrity which is blue, patience which is turquoise, justice which is yellow, bravery which is orange, perseverance which is purple, and determination which is red, but yours are pink, the souls of friendship, but that’s besides the point. Your souls start off weak, but can grow strong if you gain a lot of LV, what does LV stand for why LOVE of course,” Flowey said with a smile on his face.

The girls didn’t know why but for some reason the talking flower made them less scared and made them want to believe what he had to say, so they listened.

“You want some LOVE don’t you, don’t worry, I’ll share some LOVE with you. Down here LOVE is shared through little white ‘friendliness pellets’, move around, catch as many as you can,” Flowey said winking as these little white seed things came out from behind him.

Then as the ‘friendliness pellets’ came towards them, they did as the flower told them and went for them, then once they hit the girls right in their souls, an agonizing pain shot through them, they had both collapsed on the ground, feeling the worst pain they’d ever felt in their lives. They looked up towards Flowey and his face had changed to a big creepy grin, staring at the girls.

“You IDIOTS, in this world, it’s KILL or be KILLED, why would anyone pass up an opportunity like this?” he said. Then the seed things that hurt them before circled around them.

“DIE!!!!” Flowey shouted as the seeds neared toward them, and he started to laugh and cackle at their downfall.

The girls hung onto each other tightly, feeling so scared and betrayed. Then, as the seeds came closer, they suddenly had disappeared. The girls were a bit confused when they disappeared and they were suddenly feeling much better, than a fireball came hurdling towards Flowey and he was knocked up against the far wall. The room then lit up and two figures appeared, one tall goat lady in a purple dress with some ancient symbol in white stitching on it and another human with a pink and blue sweater, and short brown hair.

“Oh my, there goes Flowey trying to hurt another child who has fallen down here,” the goat lady said.

“Mmmm,” the other human said tugging on the goat lady’s dress and pointing at the girls.

“Yes, what is it my child?” the goat lady said, then she looked over at the girls, “(gasp) oh my, two children, that’s different, uhh hello girls, I am Toriel, caretaker of the ruins and this is my child Frisk, we came here because we heard a thump, so we came to look, but it seemed like nothing happened, there was just a rock, then we left, we were close to the entrance when we heard your screams of pain and we came as soon as we could,” she said.

“Are you ok?” Frisk asked walking over.

“Yeah, we’re fine, thanks to you,” Maddie responded.

Then Frisk and Toriel grabbed them by the hand and helped them up.

“That’s good, well follow us, we’ll show you around the Ruins,” Toriel said.

The girls followed Frisk and Toriel through another purple door, then the next thing they knew they were in a completely different room. It was all purple everywhere, and they saw a little gold star, that allowed them to ‘save’. After that, they walked into the next room and there were plates on the floor and a switch on the wall.

“Welcome to the ruins, there are a lot of puzzles and traps here but do not be afraid, we’ll help you get through the ruins safely until we get back to my home,” Toriel said as she stepped on 4 of the plates, and flipped the switch.

As the girls kept following Frisk and Toriel they began to grow a bit suspicious after what had happened with Flowey. After a while they grew a bit more comfortable, but right when they were feeling safe, they got pulled into a fight, it was a good thing Toriel had taught them what to do in a fight. The monster that had encountered them was a frog looking thing, then Frisk called out to them, “that’s a Froggit, they don’t mean harm, just compliment them and then spare them, you’ll be alright,” they said. So the girls did what they said and even got a little hug from the Froggit after they forgave him for attacking them.

“Good job children, I’m very proud of you,” Toriel said smiling.

After a lot of walking, puzzles, and encounters they finally got to Toriel’s house.

“Well we’re here I’ll show you where you’ll be staying, follow me,” Frisk said.

Frisk showed the girls to a small room with two beds, a toy bin, a wardrobe, and a bin full of shoes.

“This is a nice room, thank you,” Kaelynn said.

“You’re welcome, mom and I will be in the family room, come and ask for anything if you need something,” Frisk said leaving.

The girls looked around the room, then after looking  at everything, the girls were starting to get really tired so they decided to go to sleep. They slept for a couple of hours, then when they woke up they saw 2 slices of pie, one was cinnamon and the other was butterscotch. It was a good thing they each had a backpack, they put the slices in their bags and headed out of the room to ask Toriel when they could go home.

Chapter 3: A Mother’s Love

The girls walked into the family room and saw Toriel sitting on a big arm chair, reading a book about snails.

“Hello Miss. Toriel?” Kaelynn asked.

“Oh, hello children, did you have a good rest?” Toriel asked, putting her book down.

“It was fine, thank you for the pies, we didn’t eat them yet since we’re not really that hungry,” Maddie responded.

“That’s alright, oh I’m sorry, did you need something?” she asked.

“Ummm, well uhh, we just wanted to know umm, if we could uhhhh, know what your book was about?” Maddie lied. I mean how could they ask how to go home after Toriel and Frisk had been so nice to them.

“Oh, well this book is called 72 uses for snails, would you like to hear an interesting snail fact?” Toriel asked.

“Ooh yes please,” Kaelynn said joyfully. She really liked learning about nature.

“Ok did you know, the largest snail recorded was 12 inches long?” she asked.

“Cool, umm if you don’t mind me asking, where’s Frisk?” Maddie asked.

“Oh they were very tired after they had some of the pie, so they went to sleep. We probably should stay quiet,we wouldn’t want to wake them up,” Toriel answered.

“Oh, ok well we’re going to go look around if that’s ok,”

“Oh, yes that’s, fine bother me if you need something else,” Toriel said getting back to her book.

Then the girls explored around the house, it was pretty small, other than their room and the family room, there were two other bedrooms, one must be Frisk’s and the other Toriel’s. They cracked the door open a bit, and saw Frisk sleeping soundly, then they left, they didn’t want to disturb them. So then they looked around in Toriel’s room. There was a small room in between the bedrooms and the family room with a staircase leading to the basement, they didn’t decide to go down there, then they looked in the kitchen. After they were done looking around they were finally gonna ask Toriel if they could go home.

“Hello again Miss. Toriel,” Kaelynn said.

“Hello again girls, did you need something?” she asked.

“Umm yes, listen we really appreciate everything you’ve done for us thus far, but how can we go home?” Maddie asked shyly.

“Oh umm, excuse me, I need to do something,” Toriel said putting her glasses and her book down and leaving.

“Miss. Toriel wait!” They called out to her.

They followed her down the stairs, and chased after her to see why she didn’t answer their question.

“You wish to know how to return home do you not. Ahead of us is the exit out of the ruins, I am going to destroy it, go upstairs children,” Toriel said, then she kept walking and the girls kept following. “Almost every child who falls down here meets the same fate, they come, they leave, they die, you naive children, go upstairs,” she continued on, and they still followed. “If you leave here, he, Asgore, will kill you, I was barely able to save Frisk’s life, now let me save you, this is your final warning,” she said.

The three of them had reached a purple door, that must’ve been the exit, Toriel turned back with a stern face, but with sadness in her eyes.

“You wanna leave here so badly, fine then prove yourselves to me, prove that you are strong enough to survive,” she yelled.

Toriel then pulled the girls into a fight, they were more scared than before, and they didn’t want to fight Toriel.

“Please Toriel we don’t have to fight!” they shouted, and she didn’t respond, but instead balls of flames came hurdling at them, then all of a sudden right before the flames hit them, the fight was interrupted.

“Mom, stop!” Frisk called out.

“Frisk, go upstairs they need to prove they are strong against you know who,” Toriel said.

“No, we know who’s out there, if they’re just like me, then I know they can make friends with whoever’s out there so please, I’ll even check up on them,” Frisk said.

Toriel took a moment to let her child’s words sink in, then spoke, “(sigh) you’re right Frisk, I’m sorry girls, I was wrong, thank you for keeping us company, and letting us get to know you, call me whenever you’d like to come over or if you need Frisk to come and help you on your journey,” Toriel said.

With a final hug from Frisk and Toriel they said they’re goodbyes and bid them farewell.

“Bye Toriel, bye Frisk, thanks for everything,” they called out as they walked through the door.

All of a sudden everything got really really cold, and they were standing in a foot of snow.

“Brrrr, it’s super cold, we should probably keep our sweatshirts on and our hoods up,” Maddie said.

Maddie and Kaelynn wore similar sweatshirts, except Maddie’s was deep green at the top and it got brighter until it was a bright yellow at the bottom, and then Kaelynn’s was the exact same except it was purple at the top and turned blue going down.

They walked through the snow, feeling really nervous once again, for who they were going to meet and if they were just as nice as Toriel and Frisk.

All of a sudden a shadowy figure jumped out from the forest and attacked Maddie, and wrestled her down to the ground, he was a skeleton, wearing a blue hoodie, and one of his eye sockets was glowing a deep light blue, and he had some sort of dog skull thing behind him looking like it was just about to blast her to pieces.

“I’m not letting you hurt anymore monsters you little demon!” he said in a deep voice.

Chapter 4: You Look Familiar

“AAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! No please noooo what did I do, please don’t kill me,” Maddie screamed in utter fear.

“Hey get off my friend!” Kaelynn shouted. She then ran over and tackled the skeleton so he would get off of her friend.

“Ack! Frisk run I can’t let Chara possess you,” then he pushed Kaelynn off his chest and went for Maddie again. She quickly stood up and started running, but was immediately stopped when she saw her soul in front of her but it had turned blue and she came flying towards the skeleton. Once she was face to face with him, it only took a second for Kaelynn to, once again, jump in to stop him, but by then it was a little too late, a bone came hurdling towards Maddie and it hit her shoulder, so hard that it started to bleed. Kaelynn managed to pin him down so he could see that they were obviously not who he thought they were.

“Hold on skeleton, first off I’m not Frisk, and my friend never killed anyone, she’s innocent, and who is this Chara you’re talking about?” Kaelynn asked.

It was by then, the skeleton had finally realized what he did, and his eyes turned into normal eye sockets with white pupils, he looked super sorry for what he did, then Kaelynn released him, and he stood up.

“Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry, I thought you were someone else, someone who was a killer and it wasn’t just to us monsters it was to Frisk. I’m guessing you met them and Toriel in the ruins, you just looked like them so much, that’s Chara, uhm matching sweatshirts,” he said.

Maddie then came over limping and holding onto her bleeding shoulder, she had almost fainted, but Kaelynn caught her.

“Uhh, again I’m really sorry, uhh, well this is awkward let me start over, hey, I’m Sans the skeleton, uhh who are you?” he asked nervously.

“I’m Kaelynn, and this is my best friend Maddie,” Kaelynn responded.

That’s when Maddie stood up and then fell face first into the snow, still bleeding.

“MADDIE!!!” Kaelynn shouted, then Sans bent down and picked her up.

“Look, let’s head back to my place, there’s a small town called Snowdin, that’s where me and my brother Papyrus live, he can heal her if we don’t run into him on our way there, but don’t worry if we do he’s very kind,” Sans said.

“Umm ok, oh sorry for tackling you, this is all still pretty new to us,” Kaelynn said as they started walking.

“Eh there’s no need for you to apologize, it was my fault,” he said.

As they started walking, they walked past a station and a dog with a black mask, orange boots, torn shorts, and a pink jersey, smoking what appeared to be, dog treats?

“(Gasp) Sans, what are you doing here, and with, two humans?” the dog asked.

“Doggo, these humans mean no harm, and I accidentally attacked this one, so I’m taking them to Papyrus, Undyne’s not around is she?” he asked hesitantly.

“No, but Papyrus just passed through here, he was actually looking for you,” Doggo said.

“Great, thanks Doggo,” Sans said, then Kaelynn bowed as a thank you, and they continued.

After a bit Kaelynn finally said, “umm, mind me asking, but who’s Undyne?”

“Oh, nobody, you don’t have to worry about her,” Sans said.

“Ok,” Kaelynn said surely, but she knew she couldn’t trust him after what happened.

After more walking and a few puzzles, they ran into another skeleton, he was tall, had red boots, a white battle shirt, and a red scarf.

“Hey bro, we’ve been looking for you,” Sans said.

“SANS, WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN, AND, ARE THOSE HUMANS?” the new skeleton, who seemed to be Papyrus, said.

“Yes, but something happened to this one, and we need you to heal her, can you please?” Sans said. Kaelynn got pretty upset that Sans didn’t mention it was his fault.

But Papyrus did agree, and they went back to their house. It was in a place called Snowdin, it  seemed like a nice town.

Maddie woke up to Kaelynn, Sans, and Papyrus looking down at her. She quickly sat up once she saw Sans, and she scooted over to the other side of the couch shaking in fear, “please don’t hurt me,” she said covering her face.

“Whoa, hold on there Mads, he’s not gonna hurt you. There was a bit of a misunderstandment, but he apologized and we walked all the way to his house and his brother healed your shoulder,” Kaelynn said walking over to her.

“Oh, uh, sorry it’s just this is something I’ve never experienced before and I was scared,” she responded.

“Heh, I know and again I’m really sorry about you know what, anyways, Maddie was it, the name’s Sans, how are you feeling?” he asked.

“Umm I’m fine and who’s that?” Maddie asked in response, pointing to Papyrus,

“That’s my brother, Papyrus, he’s the one who healed you when you got here,” Sans said.

“Oh, thank you Papyrus,” Maddie smiled.

“YOU’RE VERY WELCOME HUMAN!” Papyrus said, then he turned and headed into what appeared to be the kitchen.

“Alright Sans, tell me right now why you lied to Papyrus about what happened in the forest,” Kaelynn said angrily.

“Shhh! listen my brother can’t ever know ok, at least not until he’s gotten to know you ok?” Sans whispered.

Papyrus soon returned with a cup of tea.

“HERE YOU ARE HUMAN, A CUP OF GOLDEN FLOWER TEA, THE KING’S FAVORITE!” Papyrus said giving Maddie the cup, “IT’LL MAKE YOU FEEL BETTER.”

“Thank you Papyrus,” Maddie said taking the cup.

“Hey bro, can I talk to you?” Sans asked.

“OF COURSE BROTHER!” Papyrus said as they walked into the kitchen.

“So bro, are you going to try and capture them?” Sans asked.

“I DON’T KNOW BROTHER, YOU KNOW THE WHOLE ROYAL GUARD THING HASN’T BEEN GOING TOO WELL, AND BESIDES THEY SEEM REALLY NICE, AND I CAN EVEN HELP THEM GET PAST UHM WELL YOU KNOW,” Papyrus said.

“Great, I mean hey you’re still holding up, and even if the guard thing doesn’t work out that’s ok, you still got lots of friends and your cooking has been getting better, and as far as I’m concerned, they’ve been through alot,” Sans said.

“So what do you think, can we trust them?” Maddie asked.

“ I don’t know, I mean, I kind of like Sans, he’s sweet and Papyrus seems sweet too, and he looks pretty cool,” Kaelynn said.

“Whoa wait, back up did you just say you like Sans? the skeleton that nearly got me killed!?” Maddie questioned.

“No, not like that, I just mean he seems like a cool guy, so yeah I think we can trust them,” Kaelynn said.

Then the two skeletons re-entered the room.

“SO UH HUMANS, I NEVER CAUGHT YOUR NAMES, WHAT ARE THEY?” Papyrus asked.

“Oh well, my name’s Madelyn, but all my friends call me Maddie,” she hinted for Papyrus to call her that, since it seemed like she wanted to be friends with him.

“Yeah, and I’m Kaelynn,” she said.

“OH, WELL, DO YOU HAVE CELL PHONES?” Papyrus asked, then the girls pulled out their phones, and handed them to Papyrus. He then inserted his number into them. “THERE YOU GO, YOU TWO ARE GOING TO RUN INTO A COUPLE OF THINGS, SO IF YOU EVER NEED ANY HELP, JUST GIVE ME A CALL AND SANS WILL BE THERE TOO,” Papyrus said giving them their phones back.

“Thanks Papyrus,” Kaelynn said.

“Is it ok if we look around, since I wasn’t awake to see your town?” Maddie asked.

“Sure, I can come with, and show you around,” Sans offered.

“Oh, um ok,” Maddie said nervously.

Sans made a face that kind of screamed regret.

Then they left.

“OH, UHM MADELYN, YOU LEFT YOUR JACKET HERE!” Papyrus called out, he then ran over to them and handed her the jacket.

“Papyrus you can call me Maddie,” she said taking the jacket.

“BUT YOU SAID ONLY YOUR FRIENDS CALL YOU THAT,” Papyrus said.

“Yeah, my friends can, and, well, I want to be friends with you Papyrus, it’s the least I could do for the one who healed me, and you’re very kind,” she said with a gentle smile.

“(Gasp) REALLY?!? OH THANK YOU!!!!!” he squealed. He then picked her up and started spinning her around, when he put her down she couldn’t even breath she was laughing so hard, and she was so happy she made him so happy.

“You’re welcome Papyrus, I promise we’ll come to visit,” she replied.

“OK, I’LL BE AT HOME BEING A COOL FRIEND!!!!” Papyrus shouted running home and waving.

“Hahahahahahah,” they all laughed.

“Anyways, Sans, now that we’re alone, can you explain to me why you straight up attacked me out of nowhere!?” Maddie said a bit angrily.

“Ya, I figured that would be the first topic that would hit conversation. Listen kid, there were two humans that fell down here, that was Frisk, and another named Chara, the first fallen human, I don’t know their entire story, but it would be best to ask Toriel or even Asgore,” Sans said as they were walking around Snowdin.

“So Sans told me that Chara was an evil ghost that possessed Frisk, and made them kill all of the monsters in the underground multiple times because they had this power to RESET,” Kaelynn said.

“RESET, what’s that?” Maddie asked.

“Well it’s basically a way to turn back time and erase data back to your last save point, have you guys seen these star things around the underground?” Sans asked.

The girls did remember that there were these little star things that allowed them to ‘save’ that must’ve been what he was talking about. They both nodded.

“Ya, so anyways, Maddie your sweatshirt looks almost exactly like Chara’s, with the green and the yellow, they had the same colors,” Sans said.

“Wait, Sans, if resets erase data, wouldn’t that mean like erasing monsters memories of before the reset happened?” Maddie asked.

“Yup, so you’re probably wondering how I know all this, well first, I’m different from any other monster, I remember these resets, I suffer reliving all those memories, and every human can do it, sometimes they have the choice, and sometimes it happens uncontrollably, like uhm well I don’t want to worry you guys but, when the humans die,” Sans mentioned.

“Wait, what, death?!” Kaelynn shouted nervously, “are we gonna die?!”

“Woah, hold on, calm down, I’m sure it won’t happen, listen, before Frisk came here, I talked to Toriel on the other side of that door in the forest, and she told me to promise to protect any human that came through there, and I think I did pretty well,” he said, and at the end they notice he made a bit of a face looking like he was nervous, and then there was a bit of an awkward silence.

“Well I…. uh we promise not to reset for your sake, and we will never break that promise, especially Maddie she’s really serious about promises, right Mads?” Kaelynn told him.

“Yup! I also don’t take to lightly to broken promises,” she said. “So, uhm, is there anything else we need to know?” Maddie asked.

“Uhh, no just that if you go that way you’ll hit Waterfall soon, good luck,” he said pointing a certain direction.

“Wait, you’re not coming with us?” Kaelynn asked a bit scared.

“Nah, I think you girls will be ok, but just in case, I’ll be up ahead,” he said, then he walked away waving, and then all of a sudden he disappeared into the wind. The girls were really confused but they did look around. There was shop, an inn, a libraby, and a restaraunt. Then they headed for Waterfall, and they were filled with friendship.

Chapter 5: Feeling Homesick

The girls walked the way that Sans told them to, and when they were finally back on grass and didn’t see any snow, they knew they were in Waterfall. They kept walking, until they saw another monster leaning against a wall next to what appears to be a blue flower.

“Um, excuse me, may I ask, what type of flower is this?” Maddie asked, because she was curious of course.

“This here is an echo flower, it repeats the last thing it heard over and over again,” he responded to her looking down, since he was tall.

“Oh thank you, they’re very pretty,” Maddie said, then she listened and heard her voice,*oh thank you, they’re very pretty* it repeated.

“Woah, that thing is far out, you know the two people who’d love this thing?” Kaelynn asked.

“Natalie and Erica?” Maddie responded.

“Ya, you know I kind of miss them, and I miss home,” Kaelynn sighed, that’s when Kaelynn felt a familiar hand touch her shoulder, it was Frisk!

“Frisk!” They both yelled excitedly.

That’s when they noticed Sans was next to them, listening to the whole conversation, sitting at his sentry post.

“Hey kid, haven’t seen you in a while, how have you been?” Sans asked walking over to Frisk.

“Good, how’s Papyrus?” they asked.

“Fine,” he responded back.

“Oh, I see you met Maddie and Kaelynn, have they gone to Grillby’s yet?” they asked.

“No not yet, I was just about to offer, and Frisk if you want you can come along, you know for ol’ times sake, right? What do you guys say?” Sans asked. The girls looked at Frisk, and they had this cheeky smile like they knew what was going to happen if they said yes, so they said agreed.

“Alright then this way,” he hesitated, then he said, “I know a shortcut.” So the girls followed Frisk and Sans, and before they knew it they were in Grillby’s, and they were really dizzy.

“Uhhh woah, how’d we get here?” Maddie asked.

“Sans, can teleport, don’t tell anyone,” Frisk whispered, and Sans nodded.

The girls zipped their lips, and promised not to tell. They sat down at the bar after everyone said hi to Sans and Frisk when they walked over.

When they took a seat, they heard the sound of a whoopie cushion and they couldn’t stop laughing. They all ordered, Sans and Frisk got a burger and the girls got some fries.

“Do one of you girls want ketchup for your fries?” Sans asked.

“Sure,”

“No thanks,” they responded. Maddie was the one who said sure, so Sans gave her the ketchup, and before she squeezed it onto her fries the cap on the bottle fell off and the ketchup went everywhere.

All of them were laughing except Maddie. She just stared at her food, then Kaelynn turned to her and asked if she wanted her fries, but instead Maddie just laughed too and said, “that’s ok, a lot of ketchup never hurt anyone,” and then she picked up a fry that was drenched in ketchup.

When they finished their food, Grillby came out and took their empty trays and left.

“So Kaelynn, I heard you talking about two other girls, what were their names?” Sans asked.

“Oh their names are, Natalie and Erica, and they’re also our best friends,” Kaelynn answered.

“Ya, and I heard you say you were homesick?” Sans said.

“Well ya, but I guess this place is nice too, it would just be nice to get back to my family, and back to home, this place is nice and all but it’s just too different,” she said.

Then they noticed how silent Maddie was being and Kaelynn knew why.

“Well umm Sans I just have one question, um, do you have any parents?” Maddie asked.

“Well, uh my mom passed away shortly after Papyrus was born and my dad disappeared in an accident,” he responded with a sad tone in his voice.

“Oh well, Kaelynn, Frisk can you guys leave? I just want to talk with Sans alone,” Maddie asked.

“Sure, we’ll just be outside,” Kaelynn said.

“Why did you ask them to go outside?” Sans asked, then he noticed Maddie started to cry silently. “Woah, kid are you alright?!” he asked.

“Yeah, it’s just I don’t have any parents either, we’re actually pretty similar, I only have a brother, he’s really sweet, his name is Chaley, he would’ve liked you,” Maddie said.

“Oh, is that so, well then I really shouldn’t have almost killed you back there,” he said winking.

“Heheh, ya well I’m glad I have a new friend I could talk to about this, thanks Sans,” Maddie said getting off her stool.

“Any time kiddo, now you know you’re not alone,” he said walking over to her. “Well, I think we’re all good here,” he said.

“Wait, don’t you have to pay?” Maddie asked pointing to the bar.

“Nah, hey Grillby, mind putting it on my tab?” Sans called out to the waiter. He gave Sans a thumbs up, and they walked out of the diner.

When they got outside they saw Frisk and Kaelynn playing with three dogs. One was really small, white and fluffy. The second was standing on its hind legs, had armor, a sword and shield and its neck was stretching pretty high. The last one was VERY big with HUGE armour and a spear with a dog’s face.

“What’s going on here?” Maddie asked running over.

“Well, these three came by, and wanted attention, so I just started petting them, then when I started petting that one his neck started to grow longer and longer,” Kaelynn said petting the small puppy in her lap.

“Yup, that’s Lesser Dog, you pet him and his neck will grow so long that it’ll start coming down to greet you, that’s when you know you have a problem,” Frisk explained laughing.

“Aww, they’re so cute,” Maddie said going on her tippy toes, to pet the taller one, “who’s this?” she asked.

“That’s Greater Dog,” Frisk responded.

“Oh, well it’s very nice to meet you Greater Dog,” Maddie said in cute voice.

“Well, I best be getting back to Toriel,” Frisk said.

“Aww, but you just got here,” Kaelynn said making a frowny face.

“I know, but I’ll be back soon, I promise,” they responded. “Bye, Sans,” they said leaving.

“Bye,” they all said.

“Well, I best get back to work, see you gals later,” Sans said, then he walked in the opposite way towards Waterfall, at first they were confused and then they remembered his special talent.

Then they turned and headed for Waterfall to continue on their journey.

Chapter 6 Part 1: Knock Knock Promises

Sans was walking towards the big door in the forest to go talk to Toriel.

“Knock, Knock,” he said banging on the door.

“Who is there,” Toriel responded.

“I’ve a,” he responded.

“I’ve a who?” she asked.

“I’ve a got a sore hand from knocking,” he answered, and Toriel burst out laughing.

“Ok, great start, ok, ok, knock knock,” she said.

“Who’s there?” he said.

“Justin,” she responded.

“Justin who?” he asked back.

“Just in the mood to open the door,” and then the door opened and standing right there was Toriel, “and say hello,” she finished.

“Tori!” Sans said excitedly “so good to see you face to face again.”

“Yes well I just thought I’d say hello seeing as how I don’t have much to do, Frisk is fast asleep, and I assume the girls are with Papyrus?” she responded. Then Sans realized he made a horrible mistake by sending them to Waterfall, right into Undyne’s deadly hands.

“Uhhhhhhhhhh,” was his only response.

“SANS!!!” Toriel yelled, “you let them wander all on their own?!” she said with a bit of sadness in her voice.

“Hold on Tori, I’ll check up on them every so often to make sure they don’t get into any trouble.”

“Do you promise?” she asked.

“Tori, you know how I am with promises, but I guess I’ll make another exception for you,” he said.

“Good,” she said angrily.

Then they just sat there telling each other jokes until Toriel said she had to go check up on Frisk, so they said goodbye, and without hesitation Sans teleported to Waterfall and by the time he found the girls, it was already too late. They both died in the arms of Undyne, and before he knew it he was back at his sentry post where the girls were with the echo flower. They turned and looked at him with tears in their eyes.

Chapter 6 Part 2: Knock Knock Promises

When the girls reached a small room with a patch of really tall grass, they went to go hide there. Then they heard the faint voice of Papyrus, they were hoping he wouldn’t tell whoever he was talking to, about them, because if it was Undyne, they were in trouble. They heard some things about Undyne, and man do they not want to encounter her.

“UHH, HELLO UNDYNE!” Papyrus said.

Then the girls got really tense.

“Hey Pap, any updates on any humans?” Undyne said, taking off her helmet.

“WELL, YES? BUT I DECIDED NOT TO TRY AND CAPTURE THEM,” Papyrus said a bit nervously.

“WHAT?!” she screamed. “Pap, why didn’t you try to capture them, wait— them? What do you mean by them?”  she said suspiciously.

“OH I  GUESS I DID NOT INFORM YOU, THERE ARE TWO HUMANS. THEY’RE BESTIES, AND THEY’RE VERY KIND. MAYBE UNDYNE, YOU COULD TRY TO BEFRIEND THEM, ‘CAUSE YOU KNOW UNDYNE, YOU DON’T HAVE TO FIGHT THEM,” he responded nervously.

“Pap, we need human souls to break the barrier,” Undyne said, rubbing her forehead.

“I KNOW, I JUST— (sigh) I’LL HELP YOU IN ANYWAY I CAN,” he said leaving.

Then when the girls thought Undyne was gone they took one step forward and instantly they could hear Undyne’s huge feet stomping and they saw out of the corners of their eyes that she was about to fire a spear at them. Then when she realized there was no one there she left.

The girls then got out of the grass, and a little orange monster came out, he looked like a dinosaur, but he didn’t have any arms.

“Yo, did you see that Undyne looked right at us!” he said excitedly. Needless to say this monster was really cute. “My name is Monster Kid,” he said. Somehow I guess the girls were waiting for a handshake, but seeing as how he didn’t have any arms they kind of felt bad.

“Hello there Monster Kid, I’m Kaelynn and this is my best friend Maddie, it’s very nice to meet you,” she said, then she gave him a little pat on the head.

“It’s nice to meet you too, so your human’s, right?” he said, “that’s cool but bad, we wouldn’t want Undyne catching you, even though it would be cool to watch her fight,” he said.

“Oh well maybe you could show us where to go,” Maddie said.

“Ya just keep going that way, I’ll see you up ahead,” he said then he started running and fell right on his face.

“Oh my gosh, are you alright?” Maddie asked.

He then got up and gave them a little nod. The girls then kept walking, and then they reached a bridge and before they knew it spears came hurdling at them, and they ran and held on for dear life. One short moment later, they were face to face with Undyne, and without knowing two spears stabbed them in the back, and they had died, at the same time.

They felt their bodies being teleported to another area, and before they knew it they were back at their last save point. They knew that must’ve been a reset, and they had broken their promise to Sans and their eyes started over flowing with tears as they turned their heads to look at Sans.

Chapter 6 Part 3: Knock Knock Promises

Before anyone could say anything, Sans stepped out of his station, and walked towards them. They were so scared that he was going to kill them for breaking their promise. They collapsed to the floor crying, and hugging each other, saying sorry over and over.

Sans was a bit surprised to see them shaking and crying as if he was going to blast them to pieces.

“Hey, why are you saying sorry I’m not mad at you,” he said. He then put his hand on their shoulders.

The girls stopped shaking and looked at him. “You aren’t?But we broke our promise, we made a reset,” Maddie said still crying.

“Yes, you did make a reset, but you didn’t break our promise, number 1 that was my fault I tried to save you but I was too late, I’m sorry. Number 2 that was one of the resets that occur uncontrollably, I won’t get mad at you for those. Now you’ll know if you get the choice to reset, then if you reset on that choice, that’ll get me mad,” he said.

“Oh, we’re still sorry,” Kaelynn said as he helped them up.

“Alright, now you’re starting to sound like Frisk, seriously even Paps said they apologize too much,” he said laughing a bit.

“Heh, yeah well, everyone makes mistakes am I right?” Maddie said. Both Kaelynn and Sans nodded their heads obnoxiously like they were bobble heads.

“Well we best be on our way, we’ll be more careful when Undyne comes around,” Maddie said, and they ran off.

Sans waved, and sighed. He sat at his station, and thought for a bit. ‘What, if they do reset, and kill out of curiosity. That’s what scares me the most, should I have Frisk tell them what happens in case they get any ideas? Ah this is all stuff I shouldn’t be worrying about, I believe they’ll make the right choice. I just need a nap.’

Right when Sans fell asleep, Frisk and Monster Kid came up and started putting googly eyes on Sans, then he woke up.

“Huh, I can’t see anything,” he said looking around clulessly. Then Frisk took a pic. and took the eyes off and showed him the picture.

“Heheheheh, you got me good kiddo, great job, hey I actually have a job for the both of you,” he said.

“Sure!” they both responded.

“Can, you guys keep an eye on the girls or at least go join them, Undyne’s giving them trouble like usual,” he said.

“Oh, says they guy who slept at his sentry station while Undyne was trying to make me into a human cabob, I screamed in your face, and you didn’t wake up,” Frisk said angrily.

“Alright, how many times have you brought that up in conversation, and how many times can I say I’m sorry,” he said giving them a little hug.

“I know, I’m just messing with you,” they responded.

“Ya, we’ll go, and we’ll keep you updated,” Mk responded, as they left.

“Heh, thanks, it means a lot,” Sans said watching them leave.

“Follow me, I know a tiny cut through here, this’ll lead us to a small patch of grass, they shouldn’t be too far from there,” Monster Kid said. Then they walked through a small cut in the wall, it lead to a small room.

There was a small garbage can, some paper and crayons scattered, and two blankets with a pillow made of literal cotton.

“Yo, MK, what is this place?” Frisk asked.

Chapter 7: Forgettable

“This is my home,” he responded.

“Where are your parents, you always say don’t tell my parents I’m here, so where are they?” Frisk asked.

“They’re up there,” as he looked up a single tear began to shed on his face as he looked up.

“Oh, MK I’m so sorry, do you know how it happened,” Frisk asked putting their hand on his armless shoulder.

“My brother and I were just born, during the war, our parents had fallen, but we were taken to an adoption center in the underground, when we got too big we-” he was cut off by Frisk.

“WAIT YOU HAVE A BROTHER?!?!” Frisk shouted.

“Ya, I never told you this story?” He said a bit confused.

“No, what was his name?” Frisk asked.

“Goner kid, he looked just like me but blue, well at least he used to look like that, now he looks different,” he said.

“So wait, is he still alive because out of all the monsters I met, I don’t remember meeting this goner kid,” Frisk said.

“That’s expected, he doesn’t really live here,” he responded.

“Look we have time I wanna hear about your brother, what does he look like now, where did he go, is he dead?” Frisk asked many questions. Then, Monster Kid finally answered.

“Now he looks exactly the same, but he’s grey with white eyes, no pupils, I also know the story of W.D. Gaster,” Frisk recognized that name, but let him continue. “Goner, was an apprentice of Gaster, but when the malfunction happened with the core, he and almost all of his apprentices, disappeared, but I know for a fact they aren’t gone, because I always meet goner in that mirror over there. Sans knows about this too, he and I are gonna find a way to get both Goner and Gaster back,” after he explained everything they pressed on, and made it right in time to find the girls.

Chapter 8: The Echo Home

“Maddie, Kaelynn!” Frisk and Monster Kid yelled out.

“Oh hey guys, we’re glad you’re here we got past Undyne the first time,” Maddie responded.

“Ya about that um,” Frisk was cut off when I bright light in the form of a circle went under the four of them, “RUN!!!” They yelled.

“Where do we go!?!” Kaelynn yelled.

“This way, I’ve done this one hundred times,” Frisk yelled and they led MK and the girls to a big board, then they grabbed their hand and pulled them to a little strip of the side, after they met a dead end they heard Undyne’s huge feet once again, then it stopped and all they heard was the faint sound of the rushing water. They were hesitant to turn around, and yet they did, and there she was. The girls noticed a bunch of spears surrounded Monster Kid and Frisk, then they were pulled towards her and she saved them from her slicing the board and the girls fell.

“KAELYNN, MADDIE!!!!” the two of them yelled out as they looked down.

The girls landed hard on the soaking wet ground, but once again a bed of buttercups had broken their fall. Shortly they awoke, surprised that they were still alive.

“Ah, where are we?” Kaelynn asked getting up.

“I don’t know but we should keep going,” Maddie responded.

They walked through the water, their bear legs wet and cold, but to be real that was the least of their worries. Trash piled up everywhere, so they figured garbage flowed from, what the monsters called the surface, down to here. They checked out the garbage, there were some brands they recognized. They stood on one of the boards and saw another save point, then they got a strange tingling feeling, they weren’t alone. So they kept walking, they saw a cooler, they were really hungry, and they only had some food in their backpacks. They looked inside and there was a couple of space bars sitting inside. They sat there eating their astronaut food, and thinking about their adventure through Waterfall. They remembered seeing this blue bunny selling something called Nice Cream, Kaelynn remembered seeing him in Snowdin when they were heading to Sans’ house. She didn’t get a chance then, but because he was in Waterfall at the same time they were, they got some with the money they got from battling monsters, but obviously spared them since they knew killing was wrong, since they knew Flowey was wrong. They also thought back to this telescope that brought them to another room that had many signs that explained the monsters’ history. There was also a room full of Echo flowers whispering things over and over, the room was beautiful, with water that was glowing the most beautiful blue they’ve ever seen. Another thing that happened was Papyrus called them a few times to check up on them, sometimes he’d ask what they were wearing, they figured it was because of Undyne. They saw many things on their way, but their favorite thing was, they got to this room that had a lonely statue that was getting rained on, they didn’t know what to do until they got to another room with a trash can full of umbrellas, so they decided to to put an umbrella on the statue.  A second later a beautiful tune began to play and they loved it. They also had remembered back to a room with a piano, Kaelynn was really  good at it, so she played that tune on the piano and suddenly the wall opened up. So they checked it out and all of a sudden the small white puppy they saw in Snowdin, came and took an artifact that was sitting there and left them dog residue. It was disgusting but they figured it would be proven useful. Around the beginning of their adventure of Waterfall was interesting as well but that was before they reset. They came into a room with bridge seeds that bloomed when four were aligned. They found a secret room with a bench and an echo flower, under the bench there was a supposedly abandoned quiche.

They then brought themselves back to reality.

“Hey I think we should keep going,” Kaelynn said standing up.

“Ya, lets go,” Maddie responded.

They kept walking and they ran into a dummy it looked very much like the one that they saw back in the ruins. They got the option to fight it or not and they decided not to. Then they kept walking and all of a sudden the dummy came to life and popped right in front of them.

“Dummies, are you too afraid to fight me?!?” he yelled.

“No we aren’t we just don’t believe in violence Mr. dummy,” Maddie said shakily.

“Futile!!!” he yelled louder, then the girls were pulled into a fight, with the Mad Dummy.

“Please Mr. Mad Dummy, can’t we talk about this?!” Kaelynn asked desperately.

“NEVER, dummies don’t talk!” he yelled.

They did end up fighting him, but they found this trick, apparently they can get him hit by his own attacks. Afterwards he refused to fight them once something came raining down, and they had recognized the tears that came down on the Mad Dummy.

“Oh…………. it’s you guys again, how’s it going?” he asked.

“NAPSTABLOOK!!!” they both yelled. Napstablook was a ghost who had low self esteem but they helped him back in the ruins, they loved him so much, he was really nice.

“Oh Napstablook, we missed you, what have you been up to?” Maddie asked.

“Oh well……… my cousin was just here…… you just missed him,” he responded.

“Cool! I’m sure we’ll meet him, so do you live around here?” Kaelynn asked.

Napstablook showed them to a huge room that went about 5 different ways, he led them to the middle way to the north, and there was a bluehouse on the left and a red one on the left, both in the shape of a ghost. They went inside the blue one which appeared to be Napstablooks.

“This is a nice house, so what do you do?” Maddie asked, she had noticed a couple of music discs on the floor.

“Well………. I make mix tapes,” he responded. “You uh……….. wanna hear something? don’t have to if you don’t want to, I get if you don’t like listening to music,” he said getting headphones. He wasn’t wrong, at least Kaelynn didn’t like listening to music on regular basis, but Maddie? that was one of her favorite things, so being as polite as she possibly could Kaelynn refused. Though it’s not that she didn’t want to, it was just music was not her favorite thing.  Napstablook gave a little smile and handed Maddie the headphones, she quickly put them on to hear what her new ghost friend had to offer.

She listened close as NB turned the music on. The tune was a tune unlike anything she had ever listened to on the surface, and she loved it, it made this oo kind of noise in an interesting tune.

“I love it!” she replied as she hummed along to the tune and bobbing her head and then without knowing it she started to dance a little. Kaelynn and Napstablook started to giggle a bit at their friend’s silly dance moves.

“You really like it?” NB asked filled with joy. Maddie stopped her obnoxious dancing and nodded her head so fast it was like her head was a cheetah.  “That’s great, I just need to add lyrics to it but I’m not all that great at writing lyrics.

That comment reminded Kaelynn of something, then she shouted, “YOU NEED SOMEONE TO WRITE LYRICS!!!!” the tone in her voice was so cheerful it made Maddie take off her headphones and listen to what her friend had to say. “Oh sorry didn’t mean to yell, what I meant to say is that Mads over here is a whiz at writing lyrics. Seriously you should see the lyrics for this one song that we did with our other best friend, Natalie I know she’d love you, and oh Mads you know someone who would just fall in love with him?” Kaelynn asked.

They both thought for a second and then yelled at the same time, “SARAH!!!” Sarah was another great friend of theirs, she was great at drawing, reading and making comics, and she also loved music.

“Well back to the whole lyrics thing, Maddie what do you say, wanna write lyrics for Napstablooks song?” Kaelynn asked eagerly.

“I don’t know, I’m not that great,” Maddie responded.

“No way you’re amazing,” Kaelynn answered back. Then she pulled out her phone and opened a page and showed it to Napstablook, and had him listen to the song with it. As he listened to the song they came up with, he looked at Maddie.

“This is amazing, would you mind writing lyrics with me?” he asked politely. Maddie thought about what a great opportunity this was then quickly she agreed and it didn’t take her long before she had lyrics down, and then she began to sing them along with the tune.

“Hello people my names Napstablook I make mix tapes can I show you come to waterfall for a surprise don’t close your eyes and don’t be shy welcome to my pathetic house where I make mixtapes and start rave  I know these tunes will kind of cause a fuss do to them being so spookulous,” she finished and both of the people watching loved it so much that they fell on the floor.

“Wow Maddie, that was the best I can’t wait to show it to my cousin!” Napstablook responded. He offered to show them his snail farm, but seeing as how the girls needed to go they politely refused, and he understood and they agreed to come back. They then said goodbye and kept going on.

As they went on they came into a room full of echo flowers they stopped and decided to listen to what they were saying and heard them repeating over and over again things about wanting to go home, Kaelynn and Maddie had always been writers, these echo flowers inspired them to write a story once they got home, and they thought to name it The Echo Home.

Chapter ???: Nice Temmiet You

WARNING

(THIS IS NOT A REAL CHAPTER! BUT IF TO WANT TO CONSIDER IT ONE… GO ON AHEAD)

Maddie and Kaelynn were walking, they found a dark path and went through it.

“What is this?” Kaelynn asked.

“I don’t know…” maddie responded.

“hOi!” A cat said.

“Um…” Kaelynn said.

“ I’m TEm Don’T  forGeT tO sAy hOi to mY friEnD tEm!” Tem yelled.

“hOi I’m TEm Don’T  forGeT tO sAy hOi to mY friEnD tEm!” Tem yelled.”

“hOi I’m TEm Don’T  forGeT tO sAy hOi to mY friEnD tEm!” Tem yelled.

“hOi I’m TEm Don’T  forGeT tO sAy hOi to mY friEnD!” Tem yelled.

“Hi I’m Bob.” Bob said.

“Um…” Maddie said.

As a tem went crazy jumping off the walls the two girls went into a room. As another tem was there, the girls had a weirded out expression on their face. The tem was vibrating quickly, seeming to want to sell things. The tem had tem flakes and other junk.

“Kaelynn what do we do?” Maddie asked.

“I don’t know,” Kaelynn responded.

“Hoi, WeLcOmE tO Da Tem ShoP,” the temmie said excitedly.

The girls were more than confused, they were more confused then all the times their friend Natalie said something random whenever they hung out with her.

“Uh hi Tem, thanks for welcoming us, can we do anything here?” Maddie asked.

“Ya Ya, YoU CaN SeLl StUfFs aNd BuY StUffS So TeM Go To CoolEg!! Hoi!!!” the Tem responded.

The girls looked at what they had, they had all the dog residue, they could sell that and they also found some gloves and a ribbon and Kaelynn found this old box of crayons that she didn’t need and Maddie had a whole sketch book she didn’t need. They saw how much it was to send the Tem to college (if that’s what it was) they almost had enough and they saved enough food so if they sold all this old stuff they could get money and send this temmie off to college.

“WoaH, SketCHes Es cOOl, HooMan goOd ArtiSt, and CraiAYoNs!” Tem was so happy to see all the stuff they had to offer, before they knew it they had enough money to send the tem off.

“Here you go Tem, you can now go to college now,” Kaelynn said giving the money to the salestem.

“(GASP) ALL DEEZ MUNS FOR TEM TO GO TO COOLEG?!?” the girls nodded, “THANK YOU HOOMANS, TEM WILL MAKE HOOMANS PROUD!!!” then the tem’s face stayed in one place as the body left, the girl’s didn’t know where it went, then it came back and had a graduation cap on and returned to its face.

“Ok thanks Tem,” the girls said leaving.

“BOI!!!” the tem said.

The girls laughed so hard, they couldn’t breath, they looked around and talked to the rest of the tems in the village, and only then did they notice the funny music playing in the background, then they started to sing along.

“Bop-doo bop-doo -bop-doo bop-doo, doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo,” they sang.

They saw a tem looking at a hard boiled egg.

“Tem watch eg, eg will hatch, tem proud parent!” it said proudly, and the girls just laughed, then they saw another just standing there.

“Achoo, Tem is alergic to tem,” then little spots appeared on it’s face, “HOIVES!!!” iT screamed.

The girls searched everything and then got the feeling of beeing watched as they turned they saw a temmie staring through the crack of a wall, then they went to save their progress, they were filled with friendship and

Chapter 9: MORE SPEARS!!!!!

The girls turned back left because they saw a small, quaint little entrance in the middle of a wall. They entered and saw an old turtle wearing a scavenger hat and holding a magnifying glass and one of his eyes was shut, he looked old, even older than Kaelynn’s crazy neighbor, Mr. Tucker. Maddie met him one of the first days they hung out which was a long time ago, both of the girls are 14 and they started hanging out when they were like 5, so they always thought he lived back with the dinosaurs. Mr. Tucker was grumpy, old, mean, and smelled weirdly of corn and cookie dough. They didn’t know why he was so grumpy all of the time, but it was because of him, the girls mostly hung out at Maddie’s because unlike Kaelynn, Maddie had nice neighbors.

Looking at this old turtle, they came up with the weirdest thought, ‘what if Mr. Tucker died and ended up as a turtle here in the underground.’

Then they figured that’s the weirdest thing, then again they ran into weirder things while in the underground.

They slowly approached him then he spoke, he had an old shaky voice, it was smooth though and sounded nice. “Well howdy there, what can I do for you two lovely ladies this wonderful time around,” he looked down and once he noticed the weird twist that almost every monster should’ve noticed by now. He looked a bit surprised but it didn’t phase him too much, he quickly went back to the nice little smile he had before.

“Hello there sir, how are you doing today?” Maddie asked politely.

“Well, I’m doing just dandy, thank you for asking. Oh I’m such a shell cake, I didn’t properly introduce myself to you girls, I’m Gerson. I’ve been fighting alongside the king since the beginning of time,” he responded, no doubt, this turtle was nothing like Mr. Tucker.

“Well hello there Gerson, I’m Kaelynn and this is my best friend Maddie,” Kaelynn told him.

“Well it’s very nice to meet you Kaelynn and you too Maddie,” he responded, “would you like to buy anything while you’re here?” he asked.

They girls looked at what he had,but there wasn’t a lot to buy, just two food items, Sea Tea, and Crabapples.

“Umm, can we have four Crabapples and two Sea Tea please?” Maddie asked politely.

“Sure, here you are,” he said handing them the stuff.

They thanked him, payed, took the stuff, put them in their bags, and headed out. As they left they began to walk back down the hallway with the waterfalls and the echo flowers. The echo flowers whispered things over and over, no doubt they were beautiful but sometimes they were a bit eerie sounding.

Once they went through the rest of the rooms they reached a room with a very long bridge.

“Guys!” they heard from behind. It was Frisk and MK.

Frisk started running to them yelling stuff like, “don’t listen to Undyne,” and stuff like that. Then before they reached the girls, they tripped on a board and and fell off the bridge. That’s when Undyne caught up with them.

“Frisk!!!!” they all (except for Undyne) screamed. The girls were about to ask MK for help but since he didn’t have arms that would be kind of hard.

“Don’t worry Frisk, we got you,” Maddie said as Kaelynn and her pulled them up.

“Ugh, thanks guys, that would have been ugly,” Frisk said as they finally got on top of the bridge again. “Now run!” they whispered.

Without question they did as they were told and ran. They heard a small conversation behind them. They heard things like, “oh I’m so happy you’re safe,” or “what were you thinking trying to help the enemy?”

The girls had finally reached another safe point. They were by a lot of rocks, after they saved, they noticed the terrifying heroine before them.

“Oh you humans are so predictable, it’s always either save the innocent for the good of your reputation, or kill them just because you think it’s fun,” Undyne yelled taking off her helmet.

That’s when the girls got pulled into a fight. They also had gotten green shields and their souls had turned green.

“No holding back!!!” She screamed. Then spears started flying everywhere. The girls tried to dodge them as best as they could, but Maddie got hit. They tried sparing Undyne, but nothing worked.

Finally their souls turned back to pink, they wanted to try and see if they could spare her again, but instead the ‘flee’ option was there. That was the only thing they hadn’t tried, other than fighting. They decided, if they can’t fight, talk, or spare Undyne, then they should run from her.

It worked, they ran and managed to escape her, for a few seconds. As they repeated the process they noticed that each time Undyne stopped them she began to grow hotter and hotter, as did they.

After what seemed like fifty stops they reached another sentry station. They finally ran into another room where they thought they got away from her. They took the minute to admire the room they were in, there wasn’t anything except a water cooler. They also remembered the giant sign they saw before they got there. It read, ‘Welcome To Hotland’ that probably explains why they were burning.

After two minutes Undyne appeared behind them and collapsed, burning in the heat of her metal armor.

The girls exchanged a look and walked over to the water cooler and both got a cup of freezing cold water.

“So what are you going to do, mock me?”she asked in a scratchy voice. The girls gave her a patient smile. Even though she didn’t deserve it they dumped both of the cups of water on her. After a little bit she stood up and looked them dead in the eye then they thought they saw a small smile on her face, then she ran back to Waterfall.

They walked forward with a satisfying feeling. After they had decided to take off their sweaters, they found another save point and saw an overwhelming lab looming over them. Yet they were still filled with friendship.

Chapter 10: hot.. Hot.. HOT!!!

The girls were a bit overwhelmed at the sight of the lab. They hesitated before they went inside. They slowly approached the door and before they knocked, it immediately opened up as if it knew they were coming. The door scared Maddie so much she screamed and shot up into the air and landed in Kaelynn’s arms.

“Really?” Kaelynn said, giving her cradling friend a look.

“Hehehe, sorry,” Maddie responded embarrassed.

“Ok you big baby let’s go,” Kaelynn said with her friend still in her arms.

The girls entered the lab. When they noticed how dark it was, Kaelynn released her friend. Once Maddie was back on her feet she grabbed Kaelynn’s hand. They passed a giant glowing screen. Being the only source of light the girls looked at it and saw, one girl with a yellow and green sweater tied around her waist and blue tank top with brown flowing hair on the right. Then another girl with a blue and purple sweater tied around her waist and a teal tank top on, along with dark dark brown flowing hair and glasses. It was them!

“U-u-u-u-u-uh, Mads what are we doing on the big screen,” Kaelynn said nervously  as her twin copied her as a reflection.

Waiting for a response Kaelynn stared at her friend who was just blankly glaring at the screen. “Uhh, Mads?” Kaelynn said giving her friend a little shake.

“Aaaaah, no don’t look at me, I’m hideous!!!” she screamed pulling her sweater over her head, covering her face.

“Oh Mads, hey it’s ok, you’re not ugly,” Kaelynn reassured her. Then before Maddie could respond, another sliding door slid open on the far wall on the left. Then something emerged through the darkness, something that appeared to be slumped over, then the lights flickered on.

It was….. A DINOSAUR!?!?!?!? She was short, yellow, and was wearing glasses and a lab coat. She turned and had a bit of a sad look on her face then she turned and saw the girls. She had gone into complete shock and started to stutter.

“O-o-oh my g-g-gosh, I-I hadn’t -p-planned on s-s-seeing you s-so soon,” she rambled on and on about how she’d gone wrong with everything she’d done about their visit to the underground.

Seeing her in such distress, Kaelynn slowly walked over to her and put a reassuring hand on the dinosaurs shoulder.

“Shhh, it’s ok, you didn’t do anything wrong, look it’s ok,” Kaelynn said in a calming voice, she then gave her a small hug, and heard small quiet sobbs. Maddie slowly removed her sweater and remembered that Kaelynn was a lot better at doing that kind of thing when people were upset or self doubting, like she was.

Then a small memory started to resonate inside Maddie’s mind. The boy she liked, and what she remembered was the day he gave her a flower made of origami. They had been friends for 5 years and she loved him with all her heart but knew he would never like her back, he even told her so, that he wasn’t crushing on anyone and most likely never will. A small tear began to fall it’s way down her rosy cheek, just thinking about how much she missed home.

Then her horrible thoughts were interrupted by loud thumping sound coming from outside the lab. “O-oh no, he’s here,” The dinosaur said nervously.

“Who’s he-AAAAhhhhh!!!!” the girls screamed as something busted a hole in the wall.

“OOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHH YYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!” a deep handsome  voice said as the debret started to settle. “Alphys, darling you didn’t tell me we were having guests,” the voice said.

The dust started to settle as well and the figure was a lot easier to make out. It was a robot. He was box shaped that had red and yellow colored pads on the front. He rolled on one wheel and held a microphone in his right hand.

Kaelynn stared in awe, then he approached her and started speaking in his deep manly voice. “Yes darling, and what is your name?” he asked, holding out the microphone to her.

She was taken back at the forwardness of this character. She started to shake, and said politely into the mic. “uh, Kaelynn.”

“Ah, yes, yes, Kaelynn, what a beautiful name, means Rose, does it not?” he asked wheeling backwards a bit.

She gave a quick nodd. Kaelynn then looked over at her friend who was still by the monitor. She slowly walked over to her and pulled down her hoodie and looked her in the eye with a soft comforting smile. Then, Kaelynn gave her a hug, and introduced her to the robot.

“Oh, the drama, I apologize for interrupting these humans’ sad moment. Dont worry child, the amazing, popular, and dashingly handsome Mettaton, shall cheer you up with a quiz show!” he said. As he talked, he held his hand over what should be his forehead. Then out of the blue, a disco ball came out of nowhere, music began to play and lasers shot all over the walls. That’s when the girls began to giggle a bit. They also figured that his name was Mettaton, that sounds about right.

“Oh yes! Welcome friends to Mettaton’s quiz show, but first, I must get your name young human, say it nice and loud to the viewers watching out there,” he said giving the mic. to Maddie.

“Oh uh, my name is Madelyn sir, but most of the people and or monsters that meet me call me by the name of Maddie, so you may call me that,” she answered him, she began to feel a lot better and that’s when her extroverted side came out to play, and she got really giddy.

They went through a series of questions, ones that Kaelynn knew the answer to, some Maddie knew the answer to, and some that were so ridiculous that Alphys had to jump in and help them.

The whole quizz was nothing but random questions, and if they got it wrong they’d die, but luckily they got them all right. They hadn’t thought about what would happen if they did die and they weren’t about to find out.

“Well, astoundingly, you got all of them correct, I’m glad to meet you two, and our next encounter will be even grander!!! Well I best be going, toodles!” Mettaton said as his wheel turned into a booster and flew off.

The girls were frozen for two seconds before they burst out laughing.

“A-ah, sorry about him, I’m glad you both are o-ok,” Alphys said adjusting her glasses.

“Don’t be sorry, it was a lot of fun” Maddie reassured.

“A-ah thanks, well you two should get going, oh wait! I should give you my phone number,” Alphys said. The girls shrugged and gave her their phones. She looked at them and had a shocked look on her face.

“What’s wrong?” Kaelynn asked.

“Nothing, it’s just your phones are very advanced, if you uhh weren’t um, anyways could you, i-if you f-find the t-time to show me the works of y-your phones, i-if you don’t mind,” she stuttered.

“Oh no not at all. You know once we get you out of here we will definitely show you,” Maddie said.

After they got her number they exited the lab and got blasted with heat again. For some reason they heard this type of music in the background that was never noticed before, it’s sounded very technical. They went through Hotland getting texts and calls from Alphys every now and then, and fighting and of course sparing monsters that encountered them. They also had a couple of puzzles… of course.

“Wow, this place is big,” Kaelynn said wiping sweat from her forehead.

“No kidding, do we still have the nice cream?” Maddie asked. The next thing they knew, Kaelynn pulled out two blue popsicles that surprisingly didn’t melt yet. Probably do to how cold it was in Waterfall. They decided to sit down on the hot ground and ate the nice cream, they then suddenly felt a lot stronger do to their health restoring after the damage they took from the encounters.

Not long after, they ran into Mettaton again. Sadly for Maddie they  did a cooking show, and she hated cooking. It was a lot more than a cooking show though. There was a part where Alphys secretly added jetpacks to their phones, but how they didn’t even see her do it. They went through another life or death situation, but survived.

After that, they went through more of Hotland. They ran into many different monsters, all with incredibly interesting names and beautiful designs that inspired the girls because they were both artists. Some of the names were like, Vulkin, Pyrope, and Tsundere Plane. After sparing, the monsters were very kind to them and of course, like everyone else, were surprised at the arrival of two humans.

There was also an encounter where the girl’s were on Mettaton’s news report. They had to go all around a multi pathed room that led to different bombs that they had to diffuse. Luckily, Maddie was smart enough to know how to defuse all of the bombs in just enough time to defuse the final bomb.

As the girl’s pressed on, they remembered their encounter with the royal guard. That fight was……….interesting. They jumped into the elevator and pressed the button that would take them to the newest floor, once they entered they got into………ANOTHER PURPLE ROOM!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?

“Oh boy,” Maddie said, exasperated.

Chapter ???2:Nub Feeet

Once upon a time, Kaelynn and Maddie were walking through the underground when they kept tripping on themselves…. Then they noticed they have NUB FEET?!?! Their feet weren’t really there… they started screaming and then passed out of amazingness. Then they woke up grabbed a popsicle and the passed out again then got more popsicle but missed and grabbed a head of cabbage. They grabbed the wrong thing so tried to put it back and missed. They passed out AGAIN and had a dream about shooting flowey but missed.

Chapter 11: An Eight Legged Dance

No doubt about it, the girls were numb to the sighting of more purple after the ruins being completely purple up until Toriel’s home. As they walked in, they saw a small sale going on. They saw the saleswoman, was a spider….wait A SPIDER?!?!?

The girls were terrified of spiders, but they didn’t want to be rude so they cautiously walked over to see what to buy.

“Ahuhuhu, hello there dearies,” the spider spoke. “How about buying a spider donut or a spider croissant?” she asked calmly.

The girls looked at the advertisement sign. ‘ Welcome to the Spider Bake Sale. Made by spiders, for spiders, of spiders. Only 9999G.’

They looked at each other questionably, then at the spider lady.

“Well, what about it? It’s for a very good cause ahuhuhuhu,” she said creepily.

“Uh, it’s a little expensive, w-w-we don’t h-have that much. W-we would love to, though if we h-had the money, s-s-sorry,” Maddie responded.

Then they slowly crept out of that room. They saw another guy on the other side, he looked scared.

“Uhm excuse me?” Kaelynn asked the man. He was holding a  spider doughnut. “Are you ok? You looked frightened,” she continued.

“Y-you see that lady over there, selling these,” he said showing them the delight in his hand.

“Ya,” Maddie said shivering.

“Well, I was just passing by and she offered them. Once I found out what they were I tried to refuse. Then as I was passing, she wouldn’t stop looking at me and licking her lips,” he said a bit shakily. “Now I’m out of cash,” he said shaking.

The girls grew stiff, they wanted to see if spider was doing the same to them, but they were too scared to move an inch. Then after a minute or so, they shuffled out of the room terrified. That had to be the scariest monster they had ever encountered.

“I-I hope we don’t run into her again she really freaks me out,” Kaelynn said.

“Me too, she seemed nice up until the point we found out that guy was so scared,” Maddie replied.

They decided to put their fears aside and press on. There was one thing they wanted to do more than anything else and that was to set the minsters free. When they were back in Waterfall, they learned some of the monster’s history. So basically, the humans on the surface waged war on the monsters because of fear. Sadly, the monsters lost, and that’s why they’re trapped down here. It also said they were in need of seven human souls to break the barrier that kept trapped down here. They remembered Undyne screaming something like them having six human souls. What was confusing was if Frisk was a human, why didn’t the monsters kill them, and taken their soul to break the barrier. They figured it was because of their power to reset, but if the girls now have the power, does Frisk have that power now? And if they don’t why won’t the monsters just kill them if they want to be free, why protect the child that could be their last hope. It wasn’t because the girls didn’t like Frisk, they loved them, they were so kind to them, it was just that it didn’t make sense. They also figured that since Frisk was so kind other than when Chara possessed them, that that’s the reason why  the monsters are protecting them, they love Frisk. Monsters were so kind, they definitely don’t deserve to be trapped down here.

“Kaelynn, you know how we said we’d save the monsters down here?” Maddie asked, as the stopped to take a break.

“Ya, what about it?” Kaelynn responded.

“Well, the monsters need seven souls to break the barrier, and they have six now so they need one more,” Maddie said. “And if they have two more down here, then should one of sacrifice? That’s the only way we can really set them free,” she continued.

“I know, look we don’t have to decide that now, ok? I’m trying not to think about it too much, ok?” Kaelynn responded.

“Ok, sorry,” Maddie responded back.

They continued on. They found some steam pads that they needed to get to the other side. Luckily, they went on these before so they knew how they worked.

The had to go to two rooms, one to the north and the other to the south. They both had puzzles that were a bit difficult, but doable. Once they finished the puzzles, another door opened up. They went through and found another purple room, and another save spot. The area smelled strangely of cobwebs…..oh no, and they were filled with friendship and…..fear.

They cautiously walked in and they found cobwebs and spiders covering the entire area. They shakily kept walking.

“Did you hear what they said?” A familiar voice said.

“What did w-who say?” Maddie asked stuttering.

“They said that two humans in colorful sweatshirts were going to walk through,” the voice said.

The girls stiffened a bit and started to sweat but kept walking.

“I heard that they hate spiders,” she said.

Walking much slower.

“I heard they like to stomp on them,” she continued.

“Oh n-no, that can’t be,”Kaelynn started.

“I heard the love to tear the legs off,” the voice continued.

The girls ran into spiderwebs that they couldn’t walk around. They could keep walking but they were slowed down. Then they stopped, they were trapped. Then, there she was. It was the lady from the food stand.

“I heard, that they are very stingy with their money.”

“WHAT?!?!?!” They screamed, then they were pulled into a fight.

The girls tried to spare the spider, but failed. Her name was Muffet, (the girls got the joke) and she was terrifying.

“Oh don’t look so blue dearies, purple suites you so much better,” she said. She held tea pots in two out of six of her hands. She poured a strange purple liquid into the battle area, and it started to flood. The girls held their breath and when the liquid disappeared, their souls were purple, and they could only move between three spider web lines.

“Maddie, what do we do!?” Kaelynn asked panicking.

“We dodge!!!” Maddie screamed.

The girls lost count of how many times they died during that fight. They couldn’t be as fast as Frisk might’ve been when fighting Muffet for the first time. They might’ve lost count, but they remembered the attacks fairly well. They were all so interesting. There were spider donuts, spider croissants, and real live spiders attacking them. Though, they had to agree that Muffet’s pet was easily the scariest thing that killed them. It was a giant muffet with very sharp jagged teeth that could eat you whole. I guess that’s revenge for all of the other pastries out there. The girls started to lose hope on getting past Muffet. They really wished Frisk was there to help, but they weren’t. They were on their own for this one.

*Meanwhile at Grillby’s*

It was the 89th reset that happened to Sans and Frisk since they got to Grillby’s.

“What is that 89, 90?” Sans asked. They both knew that they had to get to where ever they were but they died so fast that they couldn’t get there before they died.

“I’m really worried about them, MK said they got past Undyne, and they couldn’t have gotten to Mettaton yet, so who else could be so desperate to kill them now?” Frisk asked themselves.

Another reset.

“There they go again, this is not good, I knew I should’ve followed them, but Paps would get suspicious,” Sans said.

“Oh no,” Frisk said quietly. “I know who they’re fighting,” they said turning to Sans.

“Who?” he asked.

“Who else, I don’t think they saw the bake sale in the ruins,” Frisk said.

“MUFFET!!!” They both shouted.

“Sans we have to teleport outside of where they’ll be fighting her, can you teleport that far?” Frisk asked fastly.

Another reset.

“Let’s go,” he responded. “Grillby, we have t-” he started.

‘go ,’  Grillby signed.

“Right, thanks,” Sans responded.

They teleported to Hotland, right in front of where the girls were. Frisk tried to save, luckily that power was still there. This way if the girls died they wouldn’t go back to Grillby’s.

Another reset.

“They can’t keep this up, here I know what to do,” Frisk said. Then they whipped out their phone and tried to call them.

*Ring Ring*

Someone was trying to call Maddie. “Hello?” she answered.

“She sounds so tired,” Frisk whispered to Sans. They then put Maddie on speaker. “Maddie, Kaelynn, listen to me carefully, it’s Frisk, tell me what food do you have in your backpacks?” they asked.

“Why is that important, we’re never getting out of here,” Kaelynn said.

“Kaelynn, listen to me I know you’re tired and it seems like you’re trapped, trust me I know exactly how you feel,” Sans started. Then he noticed he probably shouldn’t have said that. “Uh anyways, trust me you’ll get out of there ok? Just listen to Frisk you’ll be ok,” Sans said.

Kaelynn hearing Sans’ voice filled her with hope again. She didn’t know why, but just knowing he believed in her made her feel better.

“Ya, ok did you guys go to that spider bake sale in the ruins?” Frisk asked.

“Yeah, we bought a donut there, oooooooh, ok I get it now, thank you Frisk,” Kaelynn said. She hung up and looked through her bag, and she noticed Maddie was about to pass out. She dug through and after a minute or so she found the donut.

“Look Muffet we did buy something from the sale in the ruins,” Kaelynn said showing her the treat.

“Oh I see how it is, you two are thieves!” she screamed. Then as she was just about to attack a smaller spider came through carrying a telegram. “Oh, I see, you saw them in the ruins you say,” Muffet said to the smaller spider. “Oh well then, I’m sorry ladies, I was not aware of this, I grant you mercy,” Muffet said ending the fight.

“Thank you Muffet, here we can’t afford any of your food but I’ll give you 100G for your cause,” Kaelynn said giving her the money.

“Thank you dearie, I’ll lower the price just for you and your friend, come back anytime you’d like,” she responded. Then they walked out of the room and found Sans and Frisk outside, waiting.

“Hey guys!” Kaelynn said, running to them. Maddie however, just walked over. She was so tired, so once she was next to Kaelynn, she passed out. “Wh-Maddie!?” Kaelynn said catching her.

“Man, she really needs stop passing out when I’m around,” Sans said. Kaelynn remembered the last time that Maddie passed out in the underground. That was Sans’ fault though.

“Yeah, except this time she didm’t get stabbed in the shoulder by a phsyco killer and then got chased by complete stranger,” Kaelynn huffed, giving Sans a death stare.

“Wait, Maddie got attacked? By whom?”Frisk asked. “I can’t remember anyone who was that ruthless that lived in Snowdin since,” Frisk shuttered, remembering back to their genocide runs. Then that’s when they realzied who attacked her friend. Then they also gave Sans a death stare. “Sans, what did you do?” Frisk asked agrily.

“Uh, I-I uh-uh uh, well you know who it is with me getting jumpy when humans come around right?” Sans lied nervousely.

“SANS!!! You promised my mother to protect any humans that came down here, and you straight up attacked and almost murdered one, outside the Ruins none the less,” Frisk said with a slight edge to their voice.

Sans sighed, knowing he couldn’t lie to Frisk, they were great pals after all. He explained what happened in the Snowdin forest when the girls came.

“Oh, well if you’re curious, I havent’ heard anything from Chara since the last reset, which was a……(sigh) a genocide route,” Frisk said sheepishly. The genocide runs were a bit of a touchy subject when it came to Frisk and Sans. It really made the line of their friendship thin.

“Hey kid, don’t blame yourself for that, you were being posessed after all,” Sans said, forgivingly.

“Um, guys? As much as I’d love to get some answers, Maddie really needs to get somewhere to rest or she’s gonna collapse,” Kaelynn said, struggling to keep her friend up.

“Right, uh Sans, can you teleport us to the Ruins, Maddie can stay there until she’s ready to continue,” Frisk said helping Kaelynn.

Then without any hesitation they were in front of the door of the Ruins. Frisk did a peculear knock, it was probably how they can tell Toriel that it’s them.

“Hello my child-(gasp) what happened?” Toriel asked.

“Nothing too serious mom, she just collapsed do to the heat of Hotland,” Frisk answered. Then after what seemed like forever, they finally got Maddie in a bed where she can rest. Then while that was going Kaelynn, Toriel, Frisk, and Sans were in the living room, talking and eating pie, and Kaelynn, Frisk and Sans were contemplating on whether or not they should tell Toriel what happened once the girls exited the Ruins. Then they decided not to, because it might ruin Sans and Toriel’s friendship, and Kaelynn just couldn’t do that to Sans, not after all he’s done for her. He was a great friend. Yet somehow, she felt something more towards him, she just couldn’t figure out what.

Chapter 12: Unanswered Questions Answered

Maddie woke up slowly. Her head was soar, and she was dizzy. She brushed her hair out of her face and noticed the bandages around her forehead. “Ugh, my head is spinning. Uh, this is Toriel’s house, how did I get here?” Maddie said. “Wait, where’s Kaelynn?” Maddie said looking around. She heard a knock at the door.

“Maddie, it’s Frisk, are you awake?” the asked.

“Oh, yes, come in,” Maddie said calling.

“Hey, you have been out for a while, how are you feeling?” they asked. They gave Maddie some tea, it was the same type that Papyrus had given her, golden flower tea.

“Thank you, I’m ok, just a little dizzy,” Maddie said sipping her tea. “How did I get here?” she asked.

“Sans, Frisk, and I dragged you here, kind of last time, honstly it’s kind of funny how you’re the one that’s always passing out and I’m the introvert,” Kaelynn said laughing.

“Oh, uh ya, sorry,” Maddie responded.

“Don’t be, but guess what, we got passed Muffet and she gave us a discount  on her sales, so once we get back to Hotland we can finally continue on our journey, but while you were sleeping, Papyrus called and said that when we’re all rested we should go to Undyn’s for some reason, so once you’re ready we’ll go there first, Sans said he’d take us there,” Kaelynn said.

“U-undyne’s?” Maddie questioned nervousely.

“Don’t worry, I asked Frisk about it and they said we’d be safe because Papyrus will be there and if we get into trouble that we should just call them, Toriel, Sans, or Papyrus,” Kaekynn said reassuringly.

“Well if you say so, I guess I’m ready,” Maddie said getting up. She then stumbled.

“Woah, are you sure ok, we should probably stay here a while,” Kaelynn said catching her.

“No, I think I just got up too fast, I’ll be fine, you trust me don’t you?” Maddie asked and Kaelynn nodded, but she was still worried for her friend.

They walked into living room where they saw Toriel, Frisk, and Sans waiting for them.

“We’re ready to get going, if that’s alright,” Kaelynn said.

“Yeah, how are you doing Maddie, you had a pretty nast injury on your head when we brough you here,” Sans said.

“Oh like you’d care,” Maddie snapped. Then she started towards the stairs.

“Where’d that come from, I don’t remember Maddie being that angry, like ever,” Frisk said walking by Sans.

“Oh don’t worry, she’s not mad, sometimes she gets like that, she gets frustrated or hurt, and when someone who has caused something bad to happen to her tries to sound caring, she snaps like that, she just needs sometime to herself, we can still be by her but we best not to try and talk to her,” Kaelynn said.

“That is understandable, I’m sorry to say that Sans, what you did was foolish, so I don’t want you by her until she is completely healed, physically and mentally,” Toriel said sternly.

“What?! Hold on, Toriel you don’t get it, I don’t think anything will do that, I mean sure her injury could heal easily but not her mental state, she just needs time, so how about he take that river person to Undyn’s and she should be better by then, that way Sans can still come to see us, is that alright?” Kaelynn begged.

“Fine, I think that’s a well put compromise ,” Toriel responded.

“Don’t worry, we’ll call you when we’re ready ok?” Kaelynn said motioning for the stairs. Sans gave her a nodd, and she felt something flutter a bit, and she tried to ignore it.

she walked down the steps and found Maddie sitting quietly on the last step.

“Mads, are you ok?”Kaelynn asked walking down the steps.

“I guess, I’m just tired and frustrated and well homesick,” Maddie responded quietly. “Yet at the same time, I don’t want to leave, I want to save these poor monsters and I need to figure out how to do it and I won’t give up until I do,” she said sternly.

“Look I know how you feel, but for now I think we should just press on and learn all that we can about freeing everyone, ok?” Kaelynn reassured.

Maddie nodded, then they left the ruins. They forgot how cold it was compared to the comfort of Toriel’s home, the sogginess of Waterfall, or the scorching heat of Hotland. They headed to Snowdin as fast as they could and Maddie got the chance to finally look at Snowdin forest and it was breathtaking despite the freezing cold. When they finally reached Snowdin, they went to the shop, bought some items and then went to the inn to rest. After they rested, the took a shortcut through an area where a wolf man was throwing ice into the river. The girls asked what he was doing and he just pointed in the way the ice was going. They shrugged it off and kept going north. They reached the river person they had met in Hotland, right where they they’d be.

“Um, excuse me, may we get a ride please?”Kaelynn asked.

“Tra la la, care for a ride I see,” the river person said in a literal sing song voice.

“Yes please,” Maddie answered.

“Where are we headed? Waterfall or Hotland?” they asked.

“Waterfall please,” Kaelynn responded.

“Tra la la, beware the man who speaks in hands, the man from the other world,” they said.

“What is that supposed to mean?” Maddie asked nervously. Before the river person could respond they were in Waterfall. Then the river person zoomed away. They shrugged and went up the path.

They weirdly knew exactly where to go to get Undyne’s place. When they found the fish shaped house, they saw Papyrus standing in front of the door.

“NYEH,HELLO HUMANS, READY TO HANG OUT WITH UNDYNE?!” He asked as enthusiastic as he is.

“Sort of, we’re kind of nervous, I mean she did try to kill us,” Kaelynn said a bit shakily.

“AAAH DON’T WORRY, FRISK DID THE SAME THING AND THEY BECAME GRRRREAT FRIENDS!” He said rolling his “Rs.”

“Hey I can do the to,” Maddie said, rolling her “Rs” too, but was really just trying stall.

“VERY GREAT!!!!! ALRIGHT LET’S START!!!!!!” He yelled as he banged on the door.

The teeth looking doors opened up like an actual mouth and in the doorway was Undyne. She was wearing a black tank top with jeans and red boots, something that looked a lot less threatening than how she was before and during the time of their deaths.

“Papyrus, so good to see you again, you ready for a super special one on one private training?” she asked completely calm. The girls knew they were intervening on something so they tied to leave and then all of a sudden Papyrus moved out of the way and they heard the faint words of, “Oh, it’s you two,” and they slowly turned to see the sternest look they have ever even seen, Even meaner than Mr. Tucker.
