A Minecrafter’s Dream by Agustya S.

LOCATION: Mojang offices, Stockholm, Sweden.

TIME: 9:00 AM, Sweden time.

We park in front of the giant Mojang logo and head inside the large double doors.

“Are you sure this is the right place?” my dad asks.

“I’m sure about it,” I say quietly, as we head into a large lobby. I see an extensive line at the front desk and join the queue. I wave goodbye to my dad and I head to the front of the line.

“Hey, kid, what’s your name?” the guy at the desk asks me.

“Jimmy,” I respond, and he hands me a lanyard with an IP, my name, the number 204, the words MINECRAFT COMPETITION, and a Discord link.

“The IP address is the IP to the server you’re going to be playing on, and the number is the computer you’re going to be at. Have fun, and good luck!”

LOCATION: Conference Room A, Mojang Offices, Sweden

TIME: 10:00 AM

I walk into a room with the large words GAMING COMPETITION on it and find my desk. I began to fidget with the mouse. Some people here would intentionally ruin my experience here, and I know that because that used to be my favorite thing to do, grief people. I joined the Discord call and put on my headphones. I log in with my Minecraft account and type in the IP.

I spawn on the Blue team’s island, and I go around meeting the players. It seemed like the game had already started and our bed was protected with obsidian somehow. We assembled in the underground base that  some of the builders had made and I found out that two hackers had made an End portal in the base. That’s where they got all the obsidian!

I met up with some users named Snoofus_217 and Progamer_739. I crafted a diamond pick and we bridged over to the Orange team’s side. While Progamer and Snoofus battled out the players, I took out the pickaxe and a set of shears and began mining into their bed defense, which was made of iron blocks and orange wool. I got to the wool and began using the shears, and finally broke their bed.

Snoofus had TNT, so we each got on the explosive block and blasted ourselves over to our island.

We used the iron blocks from the Orange team’s bed defense and protected our bed with them. I heard that someone was planning to get a Nether star for a beacon, so I bought Wither skulls and Soul sand for some iron blocks from the store. I jumped into the End portal, summoned the Wither under the bedrock portal, and killed it easily. I got the Nether Star and got some obsidian. I made a Beacon and killed myself because KeepInventory was on. When I respawned, I gave the Beacon to a builder. Someone told me that there was a spy on our team. How would Orange have known about the materials our bed defense was made of?

It turns out that they had broken our bed using enchanted netherite pickaxes at the moment I had respawned. How did they get those? Then I guessed that they must have stolen it from our island. I began to replace our bed defense. While I was replacing the last blocks, someone began to hit me from behind. I turned around, and that’s when I found out who the spy was…

It was Snoofus! He began to hit me with an enchanted netherite sword, and I decided to kill everyone on Orange, starting with Snoofus. I began bridging toward the Diamond generators, and he followed me.

I began to use an Infinity, Power 3, and Punch 3 bow that Technoblade had given me before the game had started. One of my shots landed true, and Snoofus fell off. I began to bridge toward the Orange team’s island. I started throwing fire charges and managed to kill a few people, but there were still a lot of good players. I called for backup, and soon Techno came across the bridge I had made to get here and shot more charges. He killed more people, and I began to attack one of the hackers. He hit me so that i al

I did an epic backward bridging and used a fire charge to shoot him off the bridge. What I didn’t realize was that someone from Orange was sniping at me with a TNT cannon and I was blown off the bridge. I had an Ender Pearl, so I threw it toward one of the islands, hoping it would land true. It didn’t, and so I fell into the Void.

Once your bed is broken and you die in Bedwars, you gamemode is set to Spectator mode. So I began to fly around looking at the game. Soon Technoblade fell off, and since he was the leader of our team, and the rest of the teams’ beds were broken, Orange had won.

I thought, Maybe this was pretty fun to do with a team and not grief for a change. Games like Bedwars and PvP can be really fun when you don’t cheat.

I left the server and joined the Hypixel PvP server on which the next battle would take place. We spawned in one spot and immediately began to run away from each other to collect our armor. We had started with an Autosmelt iron pick and I began to chip away at an iron vein. It yielded about 5 iron, so I crafted a set of boots and a shovel. Then when I began to search for diamonds, I dropped into a ravine that some other players had already found.

I found diamonds right next to me and so I began to mine them and some obsidian next to them. That vein got me 5 diamonds, so I used it to craft a helmet. I found more diamonds and quickly crafted a diamond sword, a chest plate, and leggings. I almost had a full set of diamond armor.

I crafted myself a shield and found a dungeon. Inside the chest, I found an enchanted apple!!! I went back to the surface and found a desert temple. In the chests were two more enchanted apples! I found a diamond and a Power 3 enchanted book. I went to a village and found some iron ingots and a chestplate. I began to mine for some more iron to get an anvil. I got a bow and enchanted all my stuff.

I went back up to the surface and killed some skeletons to get an arrow. PvP was starting, so I sky-based and began to drill at the players from above. I headed down and began to shoot at everyone. I dealt some damage myself and a hacker shot me with an Arrow of Decaying (Wither effect), I began to slowly take damage. Luckily, I had a bucket of milk and I cured the effect. I grabbed the arrow that had hit me and threw my old arrow away. I jumped off my skybase and began to run towards the end goal of the game, hitting people back with my sword.

People began to shoot arrows at me and I was down to 10 hp (5 hearts) quickly. I began to place blocks behind me to stop the players from reaching me. I was 10 blocks away from the goal when someone set me on fire with lava. I poured some water onto myself and ran up to the block of wool that you had to mine to win. I began to cut it with some shears I had crafted earlier. Someone began to attack me from behind! I turned around to find someone named Gameknight283 behind me. I managed to whittle him down and got the block. That means that my team had won.

You know what, this is getting ridiculously fun. I thought. It seems that having a real team is a good experience for me. And I can also learn the art of teamwork while I’m at it. Maybe it wasn’t such a good idea to turn into a griefer.

For the third game, my team from PvP was split into 100 teams, each team with 10 players. Each team had their own big floating island. The server had the Random Drops modpack, and whoever got the most overpowered by the end of the game, each member of his or her team got $500. I got paired up with BionicLMAO, yourmom739, amongusfam348, Mr. Beast, Witherslayer747, and a few more players. We opened each of our starter chests. I got some wood planks, apples, a sapling, some bread, a wooden axe, and a wooden pickaxe.

We set up our crafting table and began to break things. I soon got a pair of bridging boots (summons a bridge made of wool whenever you press shift) , an netherite chestplate, a ruby sword, and ruby leggings. We placed our beds in a hole underground, and we retired for the night.

The next Minecraft day, I asked my teammates if we should bridge to the next island. We all said yes, so I began to make a bridge to the next island. Once we got there, we killed the inhabitants of the island. Once they died, we picked up their stuff. We followed our bridge and I shifted and right-clicked on the bridge, which removed all evidence of the bridge we had made.

We put on the armor from the kills and soon I had combined my bridging boots with netherite to make netherite bridging boots. They had cloud leggings, which let me fly. Then I put on a netherite helmet and my chestplate. I also had a bow with Infinity and Multishot on it and an arrow. They also had an enchanting table, so we enchanted our gear with some lapis.

Then I flew to the next island, killed the island’s inhabitants from the air, and grabbed their stuff. I threw away what I didn’t need and went back to the island. They had some cloud leggings as well so I gave those leggings to my teammates.

I began to slowly get more OP and gave more things to my teammates. Soon we had a nice house, shulker boxes all organized, and our inventories filled to the brim. The end goal was to kill everyone and give your things to the judge of the game, who was in a bedrock box. I had some more cloud leggings, so I gave them to my teammates and we killed everyone we could.

Someone had spawn eggs somehow, and he summoned a bunch of creepers and endermen. We took them out easily, but at the last minute, an enderman knocked me off. Luckily I had set my spawn, so I respawned on our island.

We killed everyone, filled our shulkers with shulkers filled with stuff, and we headed over to the judge. We went in, and a lot of people were in line to get to the judge. Soon 3 teams remained, our team, Dream’s team (the Dream SMP), and Fundy’s team. We headed over to a final server, where it would be a giant modded randomizer PvP match. “Get as OP as you can,” the judge said. Then he vanished.

We began to mine things and fended off against other players as we did. I soon had netherite bridge boots (instant bridges), enchanted netherite leggings, something called a Creative mode flightpack combined with a warden’s chestplate (granted 50 extra hearts), an netherite helmet, a netherite sword, a netherite bow, enchanted golden steak, and more overpowered stuff. We were all teleported to a giant arena, and the match started. The team that had the least amount of players left would be eliminated.

I immediately ran towards Dream to take him out. I used my bow to shoot him from a distance, and then went directly into melee. “Come and get me!” he said, and he began to pillar. I followed him, flying using my flightpack. He MLG water bucket and began to run. I trapped him, placed an anvil on his head, and he was smooshed.

Meanwhile, my teammates had taken to killing the other players. Witherslayer had somehow tamed a Wither and was using it to kill all the other players. I began to help out, using Potions of Slowness to slow them down, and killed them easily. The judge arrived, and he judged the team with the least amount of people left as Dream’s team. Everyone from that team got booted, and we joined another server which was a city building competition, which was the fourth and final competition.

Bionic whispered to me: Don’t worry, I have an auto build mod on the server. He gave me a block that simply said ‘Mansion’. I placed it down and a mansion suddenly appeared in front of me. We began to place things down and made roads to ensure we won and installed a few shaders and mods on it to make it look cool. We made a few stores and placed down NPCs (non-player characters) called Citygoers to inhabit the city.

Slowly our city turned from a small town to a large metropolis with stores, an airport with real planes, and a stadium! There were a lot of chests, so we filled them with modded food and materials. We also made a stadium and decorated it with vending machines and floodlights and placed a few NPCs that played soccer. It was getting quite late in real life. The organizers of the competition had rented 4 suites for us in a nearby resort. We all got on the bus that was taking the other team and drove to that resort, and went to bed.

Bright and early the next morning, we got back on the bus and drove back to the Mojang offices. We got on our PCs and began building again. We replaced all of the concrete in the skyscrapers with steel and furnished all the houses and buildings. We added a few more details, like placing cars down and decorating the city with statues of copper and iron.

We also made a subway underground and made many entrances to it in the city. We hollowed out sections of the superflat world we were given and placed water in it to make oceans. We also added stoves in each building and also made it realistic by adding homeless people and thieves in the alleyways. We set spawn to the middle of the city, where city hall was.

Finally, the judges joined, and they judged our builds. Then they left and judged the other team. We all got on a server with both of our cities and all the mods we had on it as well. The judges ruled out Fundy’s team, making us the winner!

“YEAH!!!!” I said, crouching down and up repeatedly multiple times to show my excitement.

We all disconnected, and we were each given our money.

Once we got our money, we immediately went up to the judges’ podium where everyone was given a trophy. On the plane home, my dad said this…

“What did you learn?” he said.

“I learned how to work as a team and behave well. When I look back on my past of griefing, I realize what a mistake I had made and will never do it again.” I replied.

“Good!” my dad said. “We have a big surprise for you once we get home.”

I was very excited when I got home. There was a big blanket over my desk and I said, “Why is there a blanket over my desk?”

My sister ran up. “Uncover it and see!” she said.

I took the blanket off and under it was an amazing PC setup with a Alienware Aurora R15, a Alienware AW410K RGB keyboard, an Alienware AW610M mouse, a Raidmax Drakon DK925 RGB gaming chair, a Lumina webcam, a HyperX QuadCast S Gaming Microphone, and TWO Alienware AW3821DW curved monitors! I hugged my mom.

“Thank you!!!” I said.

“We got it for you as a congrats for winning the competition,” my mom said. “You deserve it.”

I made an account, got Minecraft, Discord, Curseforge, and began my very first video.
