Day 1: Saturday, March 12th, 2013
The warehouse

Earlier today, my friends asked me to meet them on 561 Brookhaven road. They said something about finding a cool thing, and they wanted me to see it. I arrived there a short while later, but they weren’t there. “Hello, guys?”, I asked. Silence. My friends were never this late. I was sure I was at the right place though. “Guys?”, I asked once more. Thankfully, my friends heard me this time and came running toward me. “Hey Mark, what’s up?”, one of my friends asked. “So earlier today you told me about finding something cool and you wanted me to come here. What is it?” “Oh, it’s an abandoned warehouse down the street.” “Cool! I have to go for dinner in a while though, since it’s almost 8:00 PM.” “You’ll have enough time.” So I headed down the street, through the warehouse’s open doors. Little did I know, that was the worst decision of my life.

Day 1.5: Saturday, March 12th, 2013
Into the elevator

As I stepped in the warehouse, I noticed a switch near the big main doors. I wondered if they still worked. “Guys, do you think this switch will still work?” “Probably rusted in place”, my friends replied. “We’ll see!” I pulled the switch down. Surprisingly, it went down smoothly, and the warehouse doors slammed shut. This is cool! I tried to pull the switch back up to reopen the doors, but it was stuck. I kept pushing harder until it snapped. “Looks like we have to reopen this manually”, I told my friends. We all pushed, but the doors were stuck. “Let’s find a different way out.” I wandered around, and found a dusty chair in a corner. One of my friends named Jake was tired and sat down on the chair. Then, he fell through the chair. LITERALLY FELL THROUGH THE CHAIR. He passed through it like it was water and disappeared. “Jake? Where are you?”, we all called. He didn’t respond. I touch the chair and it felt solid. That was odd. So all of us split up to look for Jake. I headed toward the elevator while Guy and Michael checked the piles of empty boxes. Andrew just sort of stood there, staring at the chair in shock. Being the curious person I am, I wanted to see if the elevator still worked. So I pressed the elevator button, and somehow the old, dented elevator doors slowly creaked open. I knew doing this was stupid, but I decided to step in the elevator. The doors closed behind me and the elevator started going down.

Day 2: Sunday, March 13th, 2013
Into the Rooms in the Back

At some point, I must have fallen asleep in the elevator, because my watch said 10:00 AM. “Oh no! I’m sure everyone’s worried about me! I need to get back!” I stood up, frantically pressing the floor 1 button on the elevator. It didn’t stop. It kept going down. The elevator display signaled I was on floor -120. There wasn’t even a button to go that far down! This couldn’t be possible! I punched the elevator doors again and again, attempting in vain to escape the elevator. By now, it was on floor -160. I felt the elevator speeding up. -180. The elevator was out of control. -210. Did the rope holding it up snap? -240. This was such a bad idea. -300. WHAT IS GOING ON!? 600. The elevator was flying down uncontrolled. 900. And then, the elevator display started going haywire, flashing random numbers like 666, 937, 6457234, 01001, and 53672. I didn’t even know where I was. Then, the elevator suddenly screeched to a halt. The display exploded into shards of glass, and the smell of burnt LED lights filled the elevator. The doors slowly creaked open. A robotic voice from the elevator announced,“Welcome to the Rooms in the-the-the” It was frozen, stuck repeating “the”. Then, all of a sudden, I heard someone say “back.” “AHHH!!” I screamed and turned around. Behind me was a floating white sphere with a single blue eye. It blinked its eye. “Hi”, it said. “AHHH!!” I continued screaming. “I won’t hurt you.” the spherical white robot thing said, approaching me. “I can’t hurt you, because I don’t even have arms!” Finally, that convinced me to stop screaming. “Hi, I’m Wheatley.” “I’m Mark. Do you know how to get out of here?” “No. I’ve been stuck here ever since Chell sent me flying into space.” We headed out of the broken elevator. Outside, it was an endless maze of white concrete walls, white concrete floors, white concrete ceilings, and buzzing fluorescent lights. The buzzing was starting to irritate me, but Wheatley told me that I would get used to it. The whole reason I ended up here was because I was looking for Jake, so I decided to search for him. Sure enough, I found him. Actually, he found me. He ran  straight into me. Panting heavily, Jake exclaimed, “We’d better run! You don’t know what is in this maze!” He was just about to punch Wheatley, but I stopped him and convinced him that Wheatley was nice. Just then, we heard a loud oof! We headed toward the sound, and found a confused Michael sitting there, rubbing his head. “How did you get here?”, I asked. “I tripped and fell into a crate, but I went through the crate into here, just like Jake. Sure enough, Guy popped through the ceiling and fell on top of Michael. Apparently, the same thing happened to Guy. “Is everyone ok?”, Guy asked. “Yeah, we’re all fine. I think Andrew is still staring at the chair though.”, Michael replied. Well, now we just need to figure out how to get back.

Day 3: Monday, March 14th, 2013
Finding the key

“I think I know how to escape!”, exclaimed Wheatley. “Quite a while ago, this guy in a yellow suit was here and he was looking for some kind of key. I think we need a key to escape!” We agreed to meet at the broken elevator if we found anything. So we all went searching for the key. Wheatley accompanied Jake, while Guy and Michael looked together. I went alone. I decided to head straight forward. As I looked, I heard a loud clicking noise. I looked around and spotted a skeleton lying on the floor. I approached it cautiously. The skeleton stood up. “AHHH!” I started running away. “YOU FOOLISH MORTAL BEING. YOU SHALL NOT SURVIVE MY WRATH!”, the skeleton boomed, chasing after me. I quickly dodged to the left and hid behind a wall. The skeleton kept running forward, unaware. Phew. That was close. But I wasn’t out of the clear yet. The humming noise I mistook for the fluorescent lights was actually the sound of evil robots approaching. I saw them and dodged out of the way of their laser beams just in time. I went down a different hall and into a dead end. I turned around to go down a different hall, but in front of me was a tall black figure. The black entity made a screeching noise and started running toward me. I was stuck between a monster and a dead end.  Next to the figure, a blob of black goo appeared, taking on a shape similar to the figure, except with a big eye on its head. The figure and the one eyed goo monster started fighting, distracting the monsters and providing me time to sneak away. As I sneaked away, back toward the broken elevator, I tripped. I looked down. I had tripped on a loose piece of carpet. I pulled it up, and alas, underneath was the key!

Day 3.5: Monday, March 14th, 2013
Escape

Swiftly, I picked up the key and ran. Everyone was waiting for me at the elevator. One of them had found a hidden door near the elevator with a keyhole in it. We sprinted to the door and I inserted the key. We opened the door and went through. We had escaped! Behind us, the door slowly disappeared. Wheatley said,“Goodbye!” and flew away into the distance to wherever he came from.  My watch re winded back. Turns out only an hour has passed since I went into the warehouse! I guess time passes differently in a maze. I said goodbye to my friends and headed back home.
