The Minecraft Diaries – Secrets under the Surface: Server Meltdown

(This story takes place in FrozenBoy20’s first book in the fourth series. No timeline connection to Mark Cheverton’s whatsoever)

=GameKnight999 – Blackout=

Monet113 and MonkeyPants271 stood up beside me inside the hidey-hole I’ve built what felt like a million years ago.

“Wh- where are we?” Monet said as she stood up from the ground.

“We’re in my hidey-hole,” I quietly replied, “Remember? You read about it when you were scrounging through my notes.”

I looked around the tiny room and memories from the past bubbled up into my mind. I stared down into the mine I dug up when I was struggling to find minerals when I first came into Minecraft (By accident), and at the end, I saw a cave system lit up with torches. Turning around, I saw a chest in the corner of the hidey-hole, a crafting table placed next to it, and two furnaces filled in the space in the other corner.

“So… you said you want to visit Crafter and his friends, Jenny?” MonkeyPants asked casually to my sister.

“Yes! I want to go!” Monet jumped up and down excitedly.

“Everyone, take out your weapons.” I said cautiously as I drew my diamond sword, “I’m not sure if it’s day or nighttime outside. We wouldn’t want to run into monsters unprepared.”

The two nodded in response as Monet and MonkeyPants took out their own weapons.

“Alright, let’s go.” I said.

I took out my shovel and dug out a doorway, light from the torches in the hidey-hole spilled out into the night of the outside world. The moans of zombies and the clattering of skeletons chilled our nerves to our very feet, they weren’t close by, but their very presence had still nearly paralyzed us.

Okay, let’s face it, the voice in my head began, you killed Erebus at the steps at The Source, you ran straight into Malacoda trying to save Crafter, you even captured Herobrine and dumped him into the void… blah, blah, blah… and you still freak out over just a couple of mindless monsters?

Shut up, I told the voice.

All of us got out of the hole and I quickly covered up the doorway with dirt, cutting all the light inside from reaching out into the woods.

“We’re going to head in that direction,” I said quietly as I pointed my sword to the way of Crafter’s village, “Move fast but quietly, we don’t want to attract any unwanted attention from those creatures.”

“Let’s get started then.” MonkeyPants nodded.

I faced the direction that led to Crafter’s village and we began walking.

*********
The blocky sun finally rose over the horizon, filling the sky with a spectrum of colours. At first, it was red, then as the bright sun rose higher in the sky, the sky turned to orange, then finally changing to light blue.

Monet stared at the sky in astonishment, “I really still can’t get over how beautiful the sunrise looks.”

GameKnight smiled, “Me too. I’m just glad we don’t have monsters chasing us this time.”

We climbed a small hill speckled with dandelions and rose, grass dotted the surface here and there. As we got to the top of the hill, in the distance we saw…

…Crafter’s village.

Monet jumped up and down in excitement beside me, she suddenly dashed off to the village screaming, “Stitcher! I’m coming!” MonkeyPants and I rushed off to catch up with my little sister.

One of the Watchers in the tower saw us and shouted, “Open the gates!”

The gates to the village opened up, letting us in. Dozens of villager saw us walking through the streets of Crafter’s village.

“GameKnight999 is back!” One of them shouted.

Then a group of villagers walked up to us. I saw Stitcher, Hunter, Digger, Herder, and of course, my best friend… Crafter.

Stitcher came running up to Monet giving each other a bear hug as they laughed.

They really did miss each other.

Turning back to the group, I saw my best friend Crafter walk up to me with a smile on his face.

“GameKnight999!” He exclaimed, “It’s very nice to see you again!”

Crafter stretched out his arms as if ready for a hug, and I smiled as I strolled up to him.

Then the world went black.

**********
“What the hell was that!?” A voice of a guy exclaimed in the distance.

“I think I saw… a flash of blue and then I heard a thump.” Another voice said nervously, this time being a girl.

“Geez, you think?” The first voice said.

“Sounds like some ‘visitors’ from the other servers just dropped by,” A second girl voice said sarcastically, “How nice of them.”

“Hopefully, that’s not the case,” A second male voice replied, “The Greencrest refugee list thingy already went up to like… six pages. We don’t need any more than that.”

“Let’s just check it out.” A girl’s voice said.

I lifted my head up from the grass laid around me. I tried to look up, but I can only detect four pairs of legs jogging towards us before my head slumped down into the grass again.

“Oh god…” I heard one of the girls say.

“It’s getting worse.”  A familiar voice said quietly.

I lifted my head again and this time, I looked up to the four people that was standing before us.

“Well… If it isn’t the great GameKnight999 and his friends.” FrozenBoy20 said as he strolled up to me.

“Wha… How…?” I muttered.

“Great timing, GameKnight. Great timing,” FrozenBoy20 muttered as he offered his hand to me. I took it, and he lifted me up.

“What do you mean ‘Great timing’?” I asked my friend, “What am I in for, dude?”

Frosty studied our group of people who has just plopped into this landscape, he sighed, then looked back at me with a serious look painted on his face.

“Well, GameKnight999…” He began, “You’re going to be stuck here until this damn war is over.”
