How Did You Envision The Gameknight999 Characters In The Books?
I’ve been wondering about this question for a while. I’ve been drawing lately, and my brother asked me to draw Gameknight999 characters. So, I started by looking back in the books for descriptions so I could get it accurate. But, then I realized that as someone reads, they picture the characters in their heads differently then what the author pictured. So, I was just generally curious. Anyone can submit their answers in the comments. Just be sure to follow the example! Also, I’m not doing descriptions for monsters, since they’re pretty much already pictured in Minecraft. These are just the villagers and users/user-that-is-not-a-user (and the occasional virus/antivirus). Feel free to look up my faceclaims, or put your faceclaims for the characters (please forgive my faceclaims, lots of them are from animes lol). And for fun, I also included a character’s theme song. Feel free to change up your answers on this one; just whatever represents the character. I mostly did mine from musicals. If you do put down songs, please keep them pretty clean. Remember, people may look these up, so we want to keep them PG.
This isn’t supposed to be formal, just have fun with it. Thank you! And thank you to Mr. Cheverton who wrote these fun novels.
Terms that you may or may not know:
Faceclaim: term used in role play games to describe a person used for the physical description of a character
Pog: It basically means “Play Of the Game” in gaming terms.
Descriptions Template Example:
Gameknight999 Description: Even though it says in the books (somewhere) that Gameknight is 12 years old, I always pictured him a tiny bit older, maybe like 15. In my imagination he had dark blue eyes and light-brown hair, sorta like a chestnut color. For some strange reason, I always pictured him with a greyish/blue jacket, covering a red and white striped shirt, with dark jeans. I guess you could say my overall image of him is as a regular teenager, probably around ninth grade or so. In my mind, he was more subtle about everything, very kind and nice, and overall friendly to everyone. His faceclaim for me was a mix between Yuuta Togashi from Love Chunibyo & Other Delusions, Albert Mondego from Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo, and Yuu Otosaka from Charlotte.
Gameknight999 Theme(s): Take Back the Night by Tryhardninja and Warriors by 2Wei
Monet113 Description: Gameknight’s sister always seemed a little more childish in the book, but in my head I did picture her as a teenager as well. More like a very young teenager, like maybe around 13-14 years old, but not super old. Like it says in the book, I did picture her with blue hair, sorta like a light fluorescent/neon blue, pulled back into a halfback. Her eyes were also the same color as her hair, but in a bit of a darker shade. I’d always imagine her in a sorta school-girl outfit. A jean jacket over a white top, with a tan skirt and leather belt, complete with black high heels. In my mind, Monet was always very hyper and excited to help out. It’s like you could read her mind the way she was moving around. She always spoke her mind, and was very nonchalant about the way it made other people feel. Her faceclaim is Hatsune Miku and Sayaka Miki from Puella Magi Madoka Magica.
Monet113 Theme(s): If I Could Tell Her from Dear Evan Hansen (THE MOVIE IS COMING OUT ON SEPTEMBER 24th!!!)
Monkeypants_271 Description: This one always makes me laugh, because it is the hardest one to imagine. I always pictured a vervet monkey, with a brown body and a blonde face. Dressed in a very flashy light blue jumpsuit, complete with the Superman cape. That’s about as far as the description can get, because it was so ridiculous and funny that it’s super straight-forward. Personality-wise, I always saw Monkeypants as a comedic factor, as well as a loving parent. Gameknight would often get frustrated with him for not knowing modern terms (PvP being an example), but Monkeypants would shrug it off. He was funny, helpful, a little strict, but overall a guardian watching over the main character. I don’t really have a faceclaim, other than Superman mixed with that one monkey from Night At The Museum.
Sidenote:
I think it would be funny if Gameknight999 tried teaching his dad the correct way to say “Pog.”
Monkeypants_271 Theme(s): Take on Me by a-ha and Africa by TOTO (This was probably the hardest one to pick because I had no idea what to do).
Herobrine Description: This was probably the one that was the most different from the books. In my head, I imagined him as a man around 18-24 years old, so young adult, but not like middle aged (for some reason that scares me XD). He’d have black hair hanging around his ears, and, of course, his eyes would always be glowing white. But that’s about where it stops for me. In the book, it says he wears a smock, but I always pictured him in more of a loose, dark grey/black Japanese kimono (beautiful pieces of clothing btw). Instead of a fierce look, it was more elegant and sophisticated. He was a guy who knew what he was doing, and was very passionate, yet almost gentlemanly about it. I mainly made him look like this because of his backstory. I bought the box set of the Gameknight999 series, and so there was a little short story in the back of one of the books. Basically, at the VERY beginning, Herobrine wanted the monsters and villagers to be friends. (I was like Wha . . ? when I read it the first time lol). So, because of his backstory, I kinda tend to make him a little less psychotic, and more like a gentleman thief sorta character. (Though, I gotta say, we all love the bad guys with sad backstories). His faceclaim is Akutagawa Ryunosuke from Bungo Stray Dogs, Sebastian Michaelis from Black Butler, and Matoba Seiji from Natsume’s Book of Friends (Akutagawa has more of the personality, and Seiji and Sebastian have more of the looks for the character).
Herobrine Theme(s): Alive from Jekyll & Hyde: The Gothic Musical Thriller and Nightmare by Set It Off
Entity_303 Description: I always thought Enitiy_303 to be about 19 years old. In my mind, he would usually have bright blonde hair and blue eyes, similar to Crafter. However, he is taller and slimmer in my mind. I usually saw him in a black coat and pants. I would always imagine him with a very charismatic sneer on his face, always playful and teasing when he’s taunting Gameknight999. His faceclaim is Heiwajima Shizuo from Durarara.
Entity_303 Theme: No One Must Ever Know from Jekyll & Hyde: The Gothic Musical Thriller (THIS SONG IS AMAZING AND I THINK IT TOTALY WORKS FOR THE CHARACTER WHEN HE’S REGRETTING HIS BAD DECISIONS. However, it may not exactly be the right fit, and there was another song that I wanted to use, but it swore so . . . )
The Oracle: I always imagined her as more of a middle-aged woman, with sort of ashy brown hair, with a few white streaks. Her eyes would usually be a hazelnut color, and she’d always have smile wrinkles around her eyes and mouth. She would usually be wearing a long, dark brown robe, with GETA sandals, and she’d always be seen with a long, polished, knobby cane. She’d kinda give off a loving grandmother vib, while also sort of a Moana grandmother vibe at the same time (I could seriously imagine the Oracle saying the line to Gameknight999, “Is there something you would like to hear?”).
The Oracle Theme(s): Isabella’s Lullaby by Takahiro Obata
Crafter Description: Crafter in my eyes was always a kid between the ages 10-14. He’d have this bright blonde hair and bright blue eyes. In the book it says he wears a crafter’s smock, but instead I imagined him with a black shirt with grey stripes running across the shirt. He’d have black pants and shoes as well. Personality-wise, he pretty stuck with the personality in the book. Bright and outgoing, serious and supportive. His faceclaim is Kenji Miyazawa from Bungou Stray Dogs.
Crafter Theme(s): Reason Living (From Bungo Stray Dogs 2) by Amalee
Hunter Description: I figured Hunter is between the ages of 16-18. Like the book says, I always imagined her with bright red hair. In my eyes, she had blue eyes that matched her top. She would usually have brown pants and boots. To me, she was always sarcastic and tough. She’d always have a smirk on her face in my mind. Her faceclaim is Akane Sakurada from Joukamachi no Dandelion, and Kallen Stadfeld from Code Geass.
Hunter Theme(s): Let the Flames Begin by Paramore
Stitcher Description: I figured Stitcher is between the ages of 14-16. Like the book says, I always imagined her with bright red hair. Similar to her sister, she had the same sort of outfit, except for a green shirt instead of blue, and green eyes instead of blue. She was more sweet to me, like Monet, but could be serious if need be. Her faceclaims are Nausicaa from Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, and Kyoto Sakura from Puella Magi Madoka Magica.
Stitcher Theme(s): Survivor by 2Wei
Herder Description: Herder was the sweetheart of the group in my opinion, so I put him at about the age of 15. I imagined him with black hair and silver eyes. I would often imagine him in a sweatshirt of some kind, with dogs imprinted on the shirt. His faceclaim is Ranpo and Atsushi Nakajima, both from Bungo Stray Dogs
Herder Theme(s): Lemonade by Alex Boye
Digger Description: I imagined him at about 20-30 years old, with cropped black hair and stoney eyes. I could imagine him in his grey smock, with a pickaxe always thrown over one shoulder. He would basically be the BFG for the entire group. His faceclaim is Teru Mikami from Death Note.
Digger Theme(s): History Has Its Eyes On You from Hamilton
Yeah, you could not be farther than my interpretation.
I mean, you made me laugh hard. In my head, not in a bad way. Also, props for the Digger theme. That’s fits in the most absurd way.
Ok, I sorta have to start with Gameknight. As Tommy, I’ve always seen him as twelve. Taller than me when I first started reading these, only not so much now since I am insanely tall. And Jenny, I think she’s like nine or maybe ten. Spiky but sweet. Like a pineapple or something. But it’s a completely different story in Minecraft. Then, as Gameknight, I always saw him as like 20 or 25. You know, like a Minecraft skin. But they referred to Monet as a girl, so I always saw her around Stitchers age. Herder and Stitcher it’s actually kind of easy to see them as teenagers, but I think they’re around Gameknight’s real age, eleven or twelve. Digger is probably like thirty, because he was married and had kids but Topper and Filler are pretty young. Hunter is definitely 16,17,or 18. With her it’s kinda hard to tell but judging on Stitchers age I doubt she’s older than that. Crafter I actually see him maybe 6, 7, or 8. He’s supposed to be really little. Now, Herobrine is probably my favorite. I like him almost as much as Gameknight. I think black hair, sorta longish but not by much and messy, black smock, a weird smile, a little tan, and with very bright eyes. I don’t see the gentleman thing. More as a very smart psycho that is very good at being evil and controlling himself. I see all the villagers in smocks, Gameknight in green and blue, Monet in whatever weird crazy stuff she wears. Also, because I think even Mr. Cheverton forgot in the last books, Topper and Filler are two blond six year old twins. Topper is a boy and Filler is a girl. And in my story Sky is Herder and Stitchers age and Wonder is like eighteen or something. Sorry for the long comment!
No no, don’t apologize for the long comment. It was interesting. I do agree with the twins. I did notice that that one of the twins had a reverse gender thing. I think in the first book one twin was a girl, and then in one of the last books it was switched to a boy. Also, I totally agree with you that Herobrine was my favorite character to break down. I like your “smart psycho” idea. If you look up the face claims I have for him, I’d like to know if you think he looks “right for the character”. In fact, doing that for all the characters would be interesting. I think I got Monet’s faceclaim pretty right, but it’d be cool to hear from others.
I also think I got Stitcher and Hunter’s faceclaim right as well. But you can tell me.
