1. The Nether

A vast expanse of red blocks comprising of what looked to be charred stone mixed with some broken glass and hardened lava flowed across the landscape, making up the ground and celing of this enormous land, which looked to be a cave. Lava flowed all throughout the cavern, as rivers on the netherrack surface, flowing as lavafalls from the celing, collecting into everything from small puddles to huge oceans of molten rock. Dotted around on the celing were patches of glowstone, its glow producing almost the same light as the lava below, making everything clear for all to see.

A large, man-sized pig standing on its hind legs walked across the landscape, holding a gold sword. This pig-man’s flesh was rotting off the bones in green chunks, in some places bone and meat showing. This zombie pigman walked across the netherrack towards a group of healthy pigmen, scaring them off. It fell into the lava from poor eyesight due to it rotting alive, and took a long bath, appearing to be unaffected by the lava.

A large cube suddenly leaped up from a lower netherrack ledge, stretching out and squishing back together like a spring. It seemed to be comprised of an outer shell of netherrack and an inner core of flame and brimstone. Hatred flared in this magma cube’s eyes, directed to any possible invaders of its territory.

And suddenly, a large rectangular ring composed of obsidian appeared, seeming to stretch out from a vast portal of some kind. Inside the obsidian ring itself was a swirling, purple mist. It gave off an eerie otherworldly glow, as if it was some kind of teleportation machine, or a doorway to another world. A few seconds after it appeared, a very creepy noise seemed to emanate out from it, as purple teleportation particles swirled around it.

The swirling purple portal inside the ring started to stretch and morph, then the shadow of… something started to come through it. As this black silhouette came closer, the noise got louder, and the portal morphed even more. Then, the tip of a very sharp blade made from diamonds came out, getting longer and longer until finally it reached the handle, then a hand came through.

At this point, the nether mobs were very confused, as an entire arm came through the large portal. Then, a human emerged, dressed in iron armor from his helmet to his boots, with a shield and diamond sword. She had a purple jacket, a black skirt, blonde hair, and green eyes.

And this woman’s name was Kai.

2. Kai’s Adventure

As I came through the portal, I was overwhelmed with a wave of heat hitting me like a speeding minecart, baking my lungs with each breath, and making my sweat evaporate. I knew from the stories that the Nether would be hot, but I had severely underestimated how hot it could possibly be!

I felt a little nauseous coming through that portal, but I simply shook it off and plodded on. I could not be deterred from my quest. As I walked along, I heard a split-splat from a nearby magma cube, turned around, and put up my shield, preparing for a fight.

I had read that magma cubes were hostile, molten cousins of slimes who were less energetic and loved crushing and melting their victims. I sidestepped quickly, dodging the magma cube before it landed on me, then striked it with my sword. It reeled from the blow; a large crack formed across its body from my sword. I leaped up, and brought down a fatal blow upon the colossal magma cube, destroying it. But the battle was far from over, as, like it’s slime cousins, it split into three smaller versions of itself, being birthed from the infinite molten rock and screaming souls that is the Nether.

As they were smaller, they moved quicker, but also had a harder time of landing on me. As I ran at one with my sword, another cube ambushed me, landing on my head and attempting, and failing, to crush my skull. I reeled from the damage, my hair singed off a bit, eating a loaf of bread while defending myself with my shield. I healed after a few seconds, then jumped right back into the fight. This time, I circled my enemies so only one was facing me at any given time. This made the battle far easier, but as I destroyed them, more and more came at me.

I realized that charging in would only get me killed, so I fled, shooting arrows at my assailants in the process. As I struck them down one by one, they tried to come closer to destroy me, but I was always one step ahead-or behind, if you will-for them to catch me. But, in the heat of the battle, I accidently hit a zombie pigman.

And as this rotting abomination screamed and called out to it’s fellow pigman, I knew I was in for it.
