StoneHold is one of the original sanctuaries in which mankind hid during the GreatFire and the LongNight. Men took their families, animals, supplies . . . everything they needed to survive and brought them into these huge caves. Once inside, they dug deep into the bowels of the Earth, tunneling deeper and deeper, trying to put as much stone between themselves and the ColdHeat (nuclear radiation).

As they burrowed, these men grew stronger and stronger, their muscular forms becoming magnified by the ColdHeat. When they went deep enough, the warmth of the earth’s core gave these intrepid miners the heat needed to grow their crops and warm their homes. For centuries, people lived in StoneHold and hundreds of other caves all across thew world.

After generations of life in their subterranean community, the dark clouds that masked out the sun slowly thinned and finally parted. These stout survivors emerged from their caves and found the world had survived. The GreatFire had destroyed nearly everything from their previous lives of machines and greed and arrogance. Only the ruins of their greatest cities still stood, though the towering buildings of metal and glass were warped and melted.

The giants emerged from StoneHold and the other great underground cities and gazed upon the scars covering the planet. By hammer and stone, they swore never to allow the GreatFire to again blanket the planet with its fiery kiss. Advanced technology was banned, a focus on simple lives was their aim, for they are Giants, and do not need machines to thrive. All they need is their strength, their warhammer, and the Nine Stones of The Way to guide their lives.

Giant cities are always built into the side of a cliff or carved into a mountain. The caverns dug for these community go deep underground, but always start up high on the cliff or steep slopes. To gain access to the city, one must climb the Giant’s Causeway. These are huge steps in the shape of a hexagon. Each step is a solid column of stone, meticulously carved so as the fit tight next to the neighboring steps. All giant cities have Giant’s Causeways, and the existence of a Causeway likely indicates there was a giant village somewhere nearby.

Are there any Giant’s Causeways in our world   . . . I wonder???

By hammer and stone, if you click the buttons on the right and share this page to social media, it’ll be a GIANT help!
